There are lots of different options and since what gives a burning sensation is the alcohol content, its likely that an alcohol-less brand will work just fine for you. Generally theyre more expensive but not so much more that youd be forced not tk use them.
You're not doing anything wrong, you just don't like how it makes your mouth feel disgusting, which is kinda ironic lol. I've eaten plenty of foods that I brushed my teeth afterwords because I felt like my teeth and tongue were disgusting and I felt uncomfortable not drinking it down with something or not brushing my teeth immediately afterword.

I guess alcohol does a good job of killing the bacteria and other germs. Yes it burns but It comes down to your tolerance level. I do get that burning sensation but I think of it as mouthwash doing its job, more the burn, better the cleaning.

No. Don't fill it with water. You don't have to use 20ml, 10ml is enough. Just do it for 45 seconds, spit it out and do not rinse with water. Also, when brushing your teeth, just spit it out and do not rinse with water.

Don't wash your mouth out with water after spitting the mouthwash, you're basically making it useless. It needs to stay on your teeth for at least 30 minutes, and water, food, etc will remove it from the teeth.
