What is up guys, Dr. Sami here & in this video Im gunna talk about the differences between some of the best mouthwashes on the market
So today I’m going to be giving a lot of information about the different uses & ingredients within some of the most popular mouthwashes
& there are ( emphatically) so many different products out there that it can be really confusing to figure out which one works best for you.
I think the best way to break this down is to have a conversation about freshening your breathe, eliminating gum disease & preventing cavities. & later in the video, we will talk a little bit more about specialty mouthrinses & the differences between alcoholic & nonalcoholic mouthwashes. Lets start with breath. Alot of my friends use mouthwash because they crave that minty fresh breathe (Smirk) I can’t tell you how many times I see my friends pounding back shots of Listerine before going out & a lot of commercials out there give the illusion that simply using mouthwash can instantaneously cure this bad breathe.
But thats simply not true.
The ultimate source of bad breathe stems from odor emitting bacteria from the breakdown of food. & the easiest way to get rid of that to actively clean your teeth every single day. So then why should you use mouthwash!
Well some mouthwashes help with gum disease. For instance, antibacterial mouthwashes have Ingredients like CPC (Cetylpyridinium Chloride) which can reduce gingival inflammation!
I show listerine here as an example but there are so many different mouthwashes out there that have similar properties. Now, if your gum disease is severe then your dentist may want give you a prescription mouth rinse like chlorhexidine which has awesome antibacterial properties. Definitely take some time to ask your dentist which applies to you!
What about mouthwashes that protect our teeth!
Well that’s where fluoride washes come in. Fluoride is in essence is a mineral that can help reduce the formation of cavities. It is found in the majority of toothpastes & in fact our body naturally produces fluoride every single day. So it would make sense that mouthwashes with a high concentration of fluoride would help strengthen your teeth over time & remember the best time to use this type of mouthwash is in between brushing sessions like the afternoon or before you go out.
It is meant to supplement the amount of fluoride you get everyday from brushing with toothpaste!
One last thing needs to be said about alcoholic vs nonalcoholic mouthwashes (chugging alcohol). Alcoholic mouthwashes have a drying property so make sure to avoid it if you feel like you are susceptible to dry mouth. & there are some patients that are concerned about the link between alcohol and oral cancers. However, the ada states that current research has “failed to find an association between mouthwash use and oral cancer”

I didn`t know the cause of my bad breath. Using this method helped me realize not only the cause of my disorder, but its solution also. My breath was really improved right after following every thing in this guide. .

I use the listerine with alcohol and it dry my mouth so bad that I dehydrate so bad and I brush day and night so thanks I'm change my mouth wash asap
After years of use everyday, my mouth is now impossibly dry and uncomfortable. I will need to change my rputine a bit, as I regret doing what I did very much. 😞

been to the dentist recently and was told i suffer from gum disease due to tartar build up. i had mistakenly bought the purple crest pro health mouth wash. Think listerine would suit me better. However, I noticed that purple crest pro health contains CPC, in this case, is this a better option over listerine?

I brush my teeth’s 3 times a day minimum, morning waking up, mid day and after I go to bed, sometimes I’ll brush it 4 times depending on what I eat. I always use a little bit of fluoride(crest) after brushing my teeth for extra freshness.
That’s extremely bad for you I hope you know instead of improving your teeth’s health you are drastically damaging it. I wouldn’t be surprised if you lose all your teeth at 35 if you keep that up. Do some research.

@@setripperuh? I brush my teeth morning and night and use crest toothpaste and use a top quality electric toothbrush. Also crest advanced mouthwash. Also floss. Am I going to lose my teeth🤔. Should I just not brush my teeth🤷♂️.
I've tried all types of mouth washes and they all make my tongue and mouth taste and feel weird. It messes up the bacteria in my mouth. My tongue taste like metal. Anticavaity and antiseptic both do this.

Crest Advanced Clinical Mouthwash - is that any different from al the mouthwashes?
Please pleaaase respond 🙏🏾 so I've had bad breath for a while maybe like a month or something and i was wondering what kind of lesterine mouth wash i should use cause i use the green one and it does not help even when i brush my teeth 2 times a day 3 when i have the opportunity and it's really annoying because especially when i wake up in the morning it's really bad and makes me kind of nauseous so!
so what I do is i brush my teeth before bed and i leave the toothpaste in my mouth and tounge. spit out the exess. in the morning ur breath wont be as bad. aslo use toungue scraper and drink water.

Listerine also makes chewable mouthwash tablets you chew it and it's equivalent to using mouthwash because it actually creates mouthwash as you're chewing it and then you spit it out like you would mouthwash

I heard that some mouthwashes even stain teeth. For example Act 1 Mouthwash Restoring. Act 1 Mouthwash has the ingredient cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) which stains teeth.
