I went for a gastroscopy today. They found nothing. But for four years i have been choking on food like potatoes..bread meat chicken. Food just goes down very very slowly. I had the worst day of my life today with the fear of this gastroscopy today. I understand so much better now after watching this video. I wish you were my doctor. Thank you so much for this
There is an illness called achalasia. Although it is unlikely, because it is quite rare, it might be worth looking into this. You would need to see an upper GI consultant rather than ENT.
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon Globus sensation is also anxiety based… I have a very good theory what causes nasal polyps but can’t seem to get an ENT to talk to me without consultation fee 🤷🏼♂️… are you interested in this conversation Vik?

Many desperate people finding it difficult to access any healthcare at the moment. I am very concerned with the constant lump feeling in my throat, can't get anyone to take me seriously for love nor money. Super worried that it could be something serious. Will try anything to get rid of this lump feeling in throat. Thank you for your dedication and effort to help those who feel abandoned. Would be super happy to come to any event that you set up. I'll be keeping an eye open for any info that you may send me. Many thanks.
I wish I could come to England and have you examine my throat! So many doctors are not willing to go into this detail in examination and just choose the easiest option which doesnt help at all and then tell you it's your fault! It would be so great to really know what's going on and treat that!
Let me guess the dr’s say you got anxiety. I honestly don’t have these symptoms. I have a constant annoying pain around by throat and jaw. I swear my lymph nodes are the source of the pain. The dr says to take these anti depressants. I said heck no.
They always want to say everything is anxiety! I'm a mental health therapist! I know what anxiety is!!! I once had a bad reaction to a medication and it was causing tachycardia. Of course they tried to give me anxiety medication which I did not take 🙄 ended up with my whole body twitching until they finally realized the issue. Took one 2 weeks for the meds to finally leave my body.
@ugabuga1361 oh yeah I totally understand that I had my doctor after a lengthy conversation about nodes they found in my lungs and that I was having trouble breathing et cetera they had done a CT scan 2 years prior and said the nodes looked the same in the 2ct scans and then asked if I was in therapy. I laughed so hard and looked him dead in the face and said Yes actually for the last 15 years. And his face turned into a face of Shame and I said don't even go near the fact you think that this is in my head. Turns out a year later I've got rheumatoid arthritis and their rheumatoid nodules which can be really bad on top of the fact that now my joints are starting to become deformed all because they thought I needed therapy🤬🤬🤬
I have been to ENT multiple times with something which I believe is something effecting my throat. Your videos are helping to ease my anxiety so thankyou
God bless you! Finally a doctor that knows something about what I have been going through! I have so much trouble swallowing food, even drinking liquids slow down and gets stuck in an area in my neck. As if the food and drink is trying to move past a lump in the way. Even when I swallow saliva I feel the lump. I have a history of acid reflux and hiatus hernia. I had this hiatus hernia for decades. Then they did another barium swallow, ( the first one I had about 30 yrs ago that showed and diagnosed large hernia) a say they didn't see one; they said it was gone! I have been on acid pump inhibitors for over 30 yrs. If I stop taking them, I vomit blood from the acid. I also have severe esophageal spasms that feel like and mimic a heart attack. I have to take Glycerol Trinitrate spray. Food is always in my esophagus and mostly undigested for many hours later. There's always something coming up. I think I still have the hernia. I also have a ton of pullups in my stomach that are what bleed. But with the lump in my neck food gets stuck and won't move. If I drink to try and move it, the liquid won't go past and painfully fills above it and it all pours out when I tip forward. It is an awful problem. My GP, who is new, my old one retired, doesn't seem concerned and seems to not understand. The Consultant I was seeing for the pollups and getting scopes every two yrs to get a sample and check for changes in the pollups, just decided to drop me. He said they were monitoring it long enough. Even though I have such a history even of an ulcer, he dropped me. I have to get my GP to get me back on a waiting list to see someone for this problem. I have been fearful of a tumour or some growth there. You have calmed my fears and gave me hope. It is very frightening to get it stuck there and it won't shift. I chew well and small bites but, still a problem. Like I said, even water slows down going past the lump, which I think may be the cricopharyngees muscle. Especially with my history. Should I see an ENT consultant like yourself here in Ireland, or another type of consultant? Thank you again for calming some of my worries. God bless you!✝️🕊🙏🏻
I had this feeling for 4 months Had a camera down yesterday and thankfully was clear Your video bought me great comfort and understanding of this so thank you
1. My throat-clearing is not so much caused by that *one liter of nasal mucus per day* and a swallowing problem, but for the fact that my vocal cords and tissues are *overly neurally activated*. My ENT said that I have mild edema and erythema of the vocal cords. Your information fits the phenomenon. 2. Probably need a barium-swallow esophagram. Would those *mucosal patches* or pharyngal pouches* have showed up on an endoscopy? I had the endoscopy at the Gastrointestinal department. The test results were negative for "everything" down to the duodenum. The doctor observed a small hiatus hernia. 3. My globus is abating, but I have a bit of dysphagia. I am trying my own swallowing exercises. Great writing, doctor. Very much to the point. You have completed a lot of missing information that I could not figure from Dr. Jamie Koufman, Dr. Johnathon Aviv, and hundreds of articles and videos that I watched. Will read your e-book. Thank you from America!
Thanks. For a short synopsis, this has to be one of the best informative and indepth explanations on the web about this/these conditions. Very well explained and clearly put. Obviously second nature doc knowing your craft well. For a sufferer going through this myself, the sleep deprevation , constant ill affect and anxiety alone is brutal. silence many suffer with. This definitely gave me some relief based on the treatment methods, explanations and knowing it can be cured.
I have been suffering with this on and off for a year. See my post here and how a side effect of low calcium can cause this. I started taking calcium supplements and it went away within hours. Might not be your issue, but wow it helped me. I was really suffering. I also have been taking vitamin D and magnesium which might help, but it was the calcium added last that really, really helped me. I hope it helps you too. I had been having heartburn so I also was trying to reduce that but it wasn't enough. Anxiety made it worse yes, but the magnesium and vitamin D especially has helped a little bit with that.
I had this and now take ACV each morning and it has helped hugely! I found out that normal acid in stomach makes the upper valve close properly but if the acid isn't as strong which happens as we age the valve doesnt close properly causing acid reflux and a feeling of a lump in the throat. I learnt this from Dr Berg who has a vid explaining how it all works. I am so grateful. No drugs necessary! 😊
First thank you for your video but I think I have a problem with the flap and the opening in my throat there seems to be and area that itches Once food or drink passes near it it forces me to cough what is causing this I can’t eat Please help
CALCIUM. More specifically low calcium. I have been suffering with this feeling for nearly a year. The main thing that has changed in my life lately was I largely cut out meat and dairy. I saw an dr. eric berg video on globus here on youtube ('what to do for lump in throat' is the title). He recommended taking two specific forms of calcium supplements. If you search hypocalcemia/low calcium one of symptoms is issues with throat and breathing. Vitamin D can be needed to help absorb calcium (which is partly why some supplements even have both, I assume). My avoiding cheese completely and this sensation from hell lined up perfectly. I can't even believe how much better I feel. I have been taking magnesium, vitamin D and now calcium which all can help various things (such as anxiety to help me relax over this)... but the calcium is what really got it to go away. First I ordered food with some cheese in it, also took a daily multi vitamin which started to help. Then I got calcium supplements and FINALLY. I didn't connect the dots until later but days when I'd eat a lot of edamame and broccoli, I would feel my throat relax. Even on the merck website hypocalcemia has various mentions of the throat issues with non medicine recommendations. (take calcium and vitamin D may be needed also). I still think acid reflux is probably the major issue, but it is disappointing to not see more on calcium on various website, cause it fixed it within hours. I highly recommend calcium supplements. I will also say - too much calcium in the form of tums is what killed my father being on dialysis for years. Calcified his insides until many amputations and eventually heart attacks. So you need to be extremely careful at least on dialysis. However for 36 year old me, wow calcium finally helped me. Combined with vitamin D supplementation in the winter I feel night and day different than the last entire year plus whenever I was eating no cheese/dairy. I hope this helps someone else. It is literally a side effect of low calcium listed all over on many sources.
I had globus hystrictus it was awful and I thought I had cancer eventually I had a camera down nothing was there it was anxiety and once I started realising this it totally disappeared
I’m currently very worried that I have throat cancer. Is there anyway you can help me rule it out? Or how did you rule out throat cancer? My anxiety is so bad about it that I can’t sleep.. thinking about going to get checked out but if I can be proven wrong about my symptoms being cancer that would be incredible. 😬💚
How u getting on? ive got the same feeling nd abd been thinking the same be over 3 plus weeks now feels like something is in my throat im clearing my throat all the time bringing up small clear mucus type sliva intermittent voice changes mild aches in throat all day i can swallow food with no pains and been to docs theyve all checked me over and sent me away one give me a leflet on anxiety ive been worried sick with it
I know it has been a while and I just found your video. I have been dealing with GLOBUS for over 4 years and the doctors could find nothing. I would love to have a copy of your book. Love your videos ! Thank you
I wish I had seen this video 30 years ago. I have been taken acid reflux my hole life with no success. You explain it so well. Thanks for your videos your helping alot of people
What a superb channel this it. I was looking for advice like this that I can trust but I never expected to be fortunate enough to find something as great as this. Solid information wonderfully explained. Thank you very much.❤️👍
Very interesting to hear about the possible components of this feeling of lump in the throat. I get that feeling occasionally while eating, and it absolutely keeps me from eating or drinking until things in the throat relax and the lump goes away. Then, I can continue eating as if nothing had happened. I find it happens more frequently after the first few bites of a meal, especially if I am eating too fast, and eating such things as chicken. Then, hard stop. At that point - very uncomfortable, hard to talk, etc. Can last for minutes or much more, with a quite full/bloated feeling in the stomach. Even trying to swallow small sips of water can bring a bit of the food back up. Lately I have found a quick fix. I have found that for me, taking even a small drink of coca cola relieves the bloated stomach feeling and the lump on the throat feeling, and I can carry on eating as if nothing had happened. Not sure what is happening, but I now always try to keep a small bit of coca cola on hand just in case this situation occurs.
Wow! Just wow. You are an amazing doctor. I think just listening to you break down this condition has brought me relief. Thank you for this detailed information. Now, my issue is this. Since 2021, I have had what an ENT doctor described as globus sensation on my throat, after an endoscopy. He ascribed it to fizzy drinks and advised that I stop taking them. I stopped and noticed improvement. However, since early March, this year, the sensation is severe and causing some bit of pain in my ear and throat. I have no breathing, swallowing, and detectable lumps around my neck. And my voice is okay. I am saying this because I am dead scared of throat cancer. But, I am guilty because I started taking fizzy drinks, and energy drinks starting late last year until January 2024. I am a bit concerned! In Zambia, my country, to see an ENT takes about three months because those specialized doctors are found in only the capital city at a referral hospital. Unfortunately, even when you seek early diagnosis, the system fails you and if you are unlucky, you end up losing your life. I am signing up for the free book. Thank you once more.
Well I just saw an ENT for this very thing and he didn’t tell any of this. He told me just drink some water it will help( it doesn’t) So thank you Dr. for this information!! Best wishes from 🇨🇦
To all of you experiencing frustration or difficulty with this, trust me, it gets so much better as time goes on. I have a mix of severe anxiety, acid reflux, and had chronic post nasal drip. I’ve been experiencing this for a little over a year now and there are tons on times I let it get to me but I can tell you that after a while you forget it’s even happening, you will get through this, any people finding a better way to treat or help comment below!
I feel like something struck in my throat. It’s completely making me depressed and can’t able to overcome from it. Past 9days I’m undergoing this problem. Can anyone give some words towards it ?
In 1989 I was in law school and had this lump in my throat sensation. I went to dr and found nothing. I had this medical book my health insurance gave to all patients. Listed inside in the Glossary was Lump in Throat. Looked it up and it said anxiety could be the issue. The book was right.
Thankyou so much for this video. For years i have suffered to extremes. I have hyperinflated lungs, emphysema, ive just been diagnosed with severe Obstructive sleep apnoea, but about 3 months ago, i was at ENT for the camera down my throat, and they diagnosed GLOBUS. And prescribed Gaviscon Advance, and how to take it. But there was no discussion why, like this video explains, and the importance of it. Unfortunately consultants no longer have the time or the staff for explaining to patients whats going on, and its became a bit of a cattle market, in, out , next!. i caught your video on sleep apnoea, and then found this. Gonna see my doc tmrw and get a fresh bottle
I had globus due to iron deficiency without anemia from over a decade of blood donations. Did not know that was a thing. Started supplementing with heme iron and it resolved in a few weeks.
been watching different videos about throat cancer, glad that i found this, im experiencing this, thats why i always clear my throat, i thought i got a phlegm in my throat that i cant get rid off, i also experience acid reflux and this video make sense and its my 1st time hearing the GLOBUS. im very scared that ill have a symptoms of throat cancer, but i dont have difficulty in swallowing food. i only got itchy throat for years . its hereditary, my aunt has this.
It’s been crazy weekend. I went to a doctor today, as I thought I have some serious health issue. That’s what I felt is swollen salivary gland- submandibular. However, after the treatment, the doctor said that I’m okay… but I still feel weird. So yeah, your video clearly represents the way I feel (my throat).
In the US you can find Reflux Gourmet alginate therapy. I've experienced not so much a lump but instead a persistent tickle or itch in that region close to my vocal cords for over a year. Clearing my throat of a little mucus offers a few seconds of relief. My symptom is exacerbated by deeper breathing and travelling in the car with A/C on. ENT scope looked normal. I'll try more consistent use of alginate as you suggest to see if that helps. I've always used it on and off. I look forward to the next videos on this topic!
I’m very worried about my condition now but thanks a lot doc for this tip. My ENT prescribed me 2 gaviscon advance and I felt some changes however I didn’t know that I need to continue for several weeks or months that’s why I still have the lumpiness feeling. I will continue to take as per your advise. Thank you so much this is very helpful 😊
HOW I CURED MY GLOBUS! So background story first, i had my globus for two weeks now and its so frustrating like something is slightly holding my throat. Its not painful but feeling it there irritates me so much. Tho there are times in the day that i dont feel it first when i wake up in the morning and when im eating. So one afternoon i decide to play my guitar randomly and singing cuz we have a performance in our school. I sang for like straight 30 min and after that I didn't notice it yet but when i lie down in bed it was goneeee.I also discovered ways to ease the sensation and who knows this might remove yours. Since globus sensation is due to muscle contraction inside your throat i try to vomit myself and what i notice is that my esophagus feels enlarged and the sensation hoes away You can also try exercising because when you exercise your throat expands due to need of air and it will easen the sensation. Hope this works!
I never knew anything about this muscle after taking anatomy and being a licensed nurse. But I've had this choking problem for years and when I would start choking. I would have to stop breathing for up to 3 minutes because I couldn't inhale. This explains it perfectly the muscle is closing. It's tightening up where in which I cannot inhale. And I have to wait for it to relax before I can breath Terrifying what diagnosis is that Please tell me
I'm excited to see the other 2 videos! Honestly, I'm a mess, literally. This has been one of the most complete and understandable dive into the issue that I've seen, even if it doesn't apply to me. I had a lovely barium lunch a couple of years ago and it revealed that not only do I swallow like a 90 year old (I'm 56), my swallow reflex is very delayed (which explains why I could open my throat and down a 12 ounce wine cooler in one go when I was 19), as well as that I can sweep my vallecula to be sure my pills have gone down when I have the sensation that one got stuck. Unfortunately, it was a referred sensation as the pill was found to be stuck at my esophageal sphincter that doesn't always open, or opens when it shouldn't. I also have a C-bar that will likely have to be shaved at some point so I can swallow. Nissen? NO way. If I need to vomit, I can't think of anything more miserable than not being able to. I have had a dry cough in my sleep for years, as well as laryngospasms that are terrifying if you don't know to breathe through your nose. How did I learn to breathe through my nose to convince my brain that I can actually still breathe fine? After my hyst, I came to in PACU, sitting bolt upright in bed, stridoring, and asking for my own racemic epi. No one had a clue what happened. Years later, I had to have a partial sigmoid colectomy (have you figured out I'm a retired medical person?) for diverticulitis with diverticulosis. I warned Anesthesia. I came to, in PACU, bolt upright in bed with the Anesthesiologist looking at me with his arms crossed. Back to "sleep" to awaken to this guy on the phone with the best ENT in town. Asked whether I wanted the scope via my nose or my mouth. Chose my mouth. I have a deviated septum and couldn't tell him about it. Because of what I will say next, I was diagnosed with Paradoxical Vocal Cord Motion Abnormality, which explained the stridor on extubation for those 2 surgeries. I've always loved singing. After, instead of singing Linda Ronstadt, I sang bass. Vocal cords are irreparably changed. I can actually sing super-low bass to a point. I have some form of Ehler's-Danlos that I've never wanted to be tested for to the tune of $1000 out of pocket because I have no cardiac or ocular symptoms. Hyper-mobile joints with stenotic sphincters (the first was my cervix, diagnosed at age 12). So, none of my sphincters work entirely well all of the time. Some, not at all. Thus, my swallowing issues and the weak muscles and the stenotic, testy sphincters, the stuck pills. Besides that, my vallecula pools and the empties right down my trachea. There's also a pocket beneath that fills with solids, and when all of that liquifies/melts, it also goes straight down my trachea. Thank goodness I have a good cough. How did I come to know all of this? Because I actually passed out when liquid ended up in my trachea. Liquid is hard to clear from the trachea. And I still had access to the best ENT in town just before he retired.
I am now eating natural ingredients, like fruit and veg liquidated, also porridge and soups, this helps a lot, until i get the camera down my throat, lovely, can't wait ,good luck to all, all the best ❤❤❤
Have you ever had someone describe their globus sensation to go away in any sort of social situation? I have it daily, all day, but if I have a friend come stay with me, it will be gone the entire time. I also don't have the feeling first thing in the morning, but develops after eating. I also feel relief while I'm eating a meal, and it comes back 10 minutes later.
What a great video. Thank you so much for posting. It explains my symptoms so much better than my GP ever did, from acid reflux and laryngospasms a few years ago right, right up to current throat issues. I've been so worried about the feeling of a lump in my throat over the last couple of months! Question: could GLOBUS effect the mobility of the neck (such as muscle tightness/stiffness on one side)?
I had this during the summer, due to stress and anxiety. Choked on tiny candy pieces; had to resort to liquid diet for a few times; etc. Autumn came and behold, all symptoms are gone. Just like that.
Thank you very much, the video was very useful. I have had globus for years and no one has ever explained what might be causing it, I have simply been told that it is not serious and not to worry. I look forward to seeing the other videos and reading the book. Hopefully I will be able to make the conference in London.
In the 80s my father was told that coffee can cause Globus. Sure enough, stopping coffee cured it for him. I experience exactly the same thing - some types of instant coffee or coffee pods will entirely predictably cause this effect for several days. Real coffee never does, though. Coffee manufacturers were aware of this phenomenon by the 90s, because at least one was studying it.
Hi doctor am really proud of having u here I have come to learn that am not alone with this problem am Uganda east Africa is it possible to get that medicine or can it reach to me here in Uganda thanks
Thank you so much. You just explained exactly what I was feeling in my throat. They did biopsy found erosion, and ulcers. Prescribed omeprazole, sucralfate oral, and prebiotic restora rx. Certain foods make symptoms come back like coffee, and other foods.
Hi Dr Veer, thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos. I have been really struggling with this condition for some months now and it's taken a huge toll on my mental health. So much so that I have considered the worst to be free of this sensation. I have a couple of questions. Do you know whether its normal to also get some mild muscle pains in the anterior muscles of the throat as part of the globus sensation? Secondly, can you recommend an ENT specialist in New Zealand? Many thanks and keep up the good work which is a real service to mankind!
I may be jumping ahead….but what about neurosensory cough? After about 10yrs of ENT and Gastros telling me it was GERD/LPR, nothing helped. After hours and hours of doing my own research, I decided that my problem could be NSC. After persuading my MD to allow me to try Gabapentin, and titrating it myself, i finally had relief. It was a miracle drug of sorts. However, it took high doses of GBP to reach therapeutic levels (for me.) I am a dentist, and it became problematic to see patients, so I switched to amitryptaline, again titrating, and have dialed in relief at 50mg/day.
These are the best videos on Globus I’ve ever seen. Thank you. I have had Globus for 3.5 years. Causal or coincidentally I had 3.5mm epiglottis trimmed due to flapping and breathing obstruction but the tight ball in throat feeling remains. I had hoped the surgery would have fixed this but it did not. I also have large tonsils. What could be the cause?
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon And you Vik, btw Radiology department at Darent Valley has sent my CT scan over from back in Sept of 2021 so has been done via IPD to you 👍
I had a lump I throat years ago and now it's come back. It's the same as before. Poo is like rabbit droppings (sorry), burping and bits of food coming up. The lump is the worst feeling though. There is no escaping it. People keep telling me it's emotional, but I'm fine emotionally apart from the throat. Thank you so much for this video. I 'll try the G Advance you mentioned.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this video. I have been suffering from LPR for about 10 years now. Comes and goes for long periods of time. As of today another bout is going on. I use Gaviscon Advice but did NOT know how often to use it.....I do now. Thank you so much for all the information. So helpful for me.
Thank you so much for this. You just solved my son's swallowing issue. We've been in and out of the hospital for a month now and they can't tell what's causing it. You are a blessing. God bless.
I truly think you need to open an off in Florida USA. i saw part one of your video and it's like you were talking about me I've had this feeling for over 20 years of something in my throat and saw countless specialists the the thick paste liquid test and the camera test Not one issued me that med. i felt the deference the day i took the liquid. thank you
I had this years ago. It got to the point where I could not swallow without constant effort and became extremely dehydrated and was hospitalized. I saw a digestive specialist who told me there was nothing wrong with me and discharged me! Eventually I got to a good digestive specialist who did a manometry test. He diagnosed ‘diffuse esophageal spasm’. I was given calcium channel blockers to manage the esophageal issue. I was also referred to a health care psychologist, who used hypnotism (made me a tape) to listen to at night to normalize the swallowing process. It is not supposed to be a process that requires awareness and I had struggled so long to try to swallow, it was constantly in my awareness. After about 6 months of the calcium channel blockers and the night time tape, I was approaching normal swallowing again. I needed the diltiazem for about 2 years, eventually discontinuing them. This was a horrific experience. I now know more about the process of swallowing and what affects the esophagus than I ever could have imagined.
I am in the United States. I am so glad I came across your video. I have been dealing with acid reflux for several years. Recently I have been dealing with the feeling of lump in throat and feeling like meds get stuck in throat. I have seasonal allergies as well. I am making diet changes and eating slower. I signed up for your newsletter, looking forward to learning how I can solve this problem. Thankful you are on You Tube. I just discovered Zoe and Doctor Will Bulsiewicz. So grateful.
Not sure I can, it is looking overly expensive and I want to give people the chance to mingle with the speakers during a coffee break after each lecture. I'm trying to find a solution
I didn't realise that there were so many people on the zole drugs - i'm thinking of putting an email with help getting yourself off the drug. perhaps i'll make a video on it?
I would be very interested! Your video was eye opening after dealing with 10 years of a ‘cough’. Endoscopy turned out that at the time I had an NSAID use related peptic ulcer, but now pretty stuck on omeprazole twice daily as I can’t seem to digest my food well without it. Would love to get away from this!
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon My son was on a prole drug and Naproxen for years - Looking even at NHS website said long term use should have checks for liver/kidney functions, and nothing from GP surgery - He's off them now and the all the side effects he was having have stopped - things like bad stomach, diarrhea/constipation, ticks etc.
Yes please do!!! I’ve read so many horror stories about how difficult it is to get off them. I have also found an app called nerva which goes with the gut brain connection and seems to be helpful but am only about one week in.
I have actually aspirated contents into my lungs when I've fallen asleep and the upper sphincter muscles relaxes. My throat has swollen and I drool heavily for and hour coughing this acid up. I usually end up with a lung infection after this. I've learned to go to bed with an empty stomach but there are still complications. Mostly air gets stuck and I can't get it out unless I sit up. The pressure this stuck burp causes behind my throat pushing water and medication against it usually keeps me awake. I'm trying to see a doc here in the states but insurance is out of my financial range. I've got major issues after I swallow. All this is probably causing the lump sensation in my throat. Thanks for this video!
This is so interesting as I’ve been on omeprazole for years and it does nothing. Have severe OSA and can’t use anything for it as I have a permanent blocked left nostril and as soon as I lie down I cough and wretch with liquid coming up. Am awaiting a operation on an inflamed Turbinate also. Would definitely be interested in coming to London to a seminar. Your videos are so informative and I wish there were more ENT surgeons like you in the UK I’m going to try gaviscon advance.
Mine started last February. It comes with head pressure, arm numbness, palpitations and nausea. I can hardly sleep at night. I went to see a doctor and run some lab tests, the results were normal. The doctor said, anxiety caused it so he prescribed me meds that can help me. I still have it now though, I have bad days and good days but still got to manage it.
I'm about to watch part 2 but I am very interested in the course you wish to conduct, I've been on my CPAP for about 4 or more years now😪I have this lump feeling that you talk about but no reflux, I will email you also, I was just too excited and had to write immediately
Doctor Veer, I learnt a lot from your videos on the subject, thank you. I am male, 69 years of age and have been diagnosed with stomach reflux in early December 2023. I was prescribed with Peptac Liquid and daily 20 mg of Omeprazole capsules. My persistent sore throat and hoarseness in the voice did improve slightly but has not yet gone away. However after taking the medication for about 25 days (around 5th January 2024), I suddenly found it difficult to swallow any slightly larger hard objects, such as the cod liver oil capsules that I have been taking 20 or thirty years ago. Even the modest sized Omeprazole capsules will cause some discomfort, at the bottom of the throat and just above the chest. Now the span of the discomfort has extended to all day, long after I have swallowed those medication and supplement. Would you be able to help explain what my problem is? By the way is Gaviscon Advance you recommended in the video the same as Peptac Liquid? Thanks for your help.
Thank you! It would be nice if we had the advance in the US. Not a fan of PPIs. I have been on one since january for esophagitis and chemical gastropathy. I am still having the lump and reflux. It has improved but not gone.
When I first experienced this I was terrified and I actually had a very dry mouth and throat and I couldn't breathe. It felt very different to anxiety which I've had before. Are then managed to find some water to have and it was a struggle to even swallow the water. Eventually I did and it seemed to help that I wet my throat. It has been on and off for almost a year now and I get that mucus sensation as well where I feel like there's something stuck at the bottom of my throat like a grain of rice or something and I can just never clear it and sometimes I think it's a tonsil stone that never can be dislodged. Overall I can live with it but it's extremely frustrating. I find that it's easily triggered when I speak a lot or exert power in my voice when I speak. Shouting is basically just not even possible anymore. I get the lump in the throat mostly as like a small type of lump feeling when my throat goes dry. But if I continue to try to speak when my throat is dry, I feel like it's a bigger lump in throat. Like a golf ball size. It's almost like speaking makes it worse. When I eat and drink however, I feel like there is no sensation there. I generally don't drink that much water which I know is bad, but I'm just wondering if that's also something that other people have noticed. Is the lack of water part of the reason this happens?? Anyway, just putting it out there. Would love some more feedback and experience stories. 😊
Yesss you are absolutely right water makes it easy. Dry mouth is worse..It started yesterday for me..And I m really afraid that this will not go soon..if there's anything that worked for you please sharee..thank you!

Update: I recently went overseas and took a 3 week vacation and at no point during this 3 week vacation did I have this sensation? So I do think it is linked to anxiety at least in my situation. But I really did not think it was and I was very stubborn. But I do think now that it is linked to anxiety
I have been suffering through this since 2009. Mine never lets up and i never get a break from it! I dont wish this upon my biggest enemy (not that i have any anyway)
Thank you for the information, I have been feeling it for 6 years no medicine has ever treated it or even reduce it's size, I eat well but sometimes I feel some pain on my chest... Hope I will find that medicine here in Kenya. 🙏🙏🙏
I've had this for 2 weeks now. It relate to so many of these comments (Dr said the same thing most of y'all say. GERD, anxiety, don't fixate on it. If it gets worse- go to an ENT specialist. If I’m distracted I don’t feel it at all. Some days/hours are better than others. Swallowing water helps.
I’ve seen so many doctors for the globus sensation and usually got the answer “acid reflux” while I don’t really feel the reflux. Or “oh, I see some nasal drip on the back of your throat, that is why”. I even underwent endoscopy and was told “we cannot see anything but maybe it is your anxiety”, I agree because I felt better after the procedure, but there is a missing piece, why anxiety causes the sensation? Now it makes perfect sense! Thank you Dr. Veer! PS: I wonder if my aerophagia caused by CPAP therapy triggers the globus sensation.

I've been suffering with this sensation again over the last month. I've had it come and go over the last couple of years. This video couldn't of come at a better time! Thank you for sharing. I will try my luck with some gavisgon advance, while I paitently carrying on waiting for my call to see an ent specialist 🤞🏼 Your videos alone though have help me a lot, so for that thank you!
Hello Doc I appreciate the information you shared🙏. However, last April I noticed a small lump in my throat and every time I drink water , I can see that it's also moving up and down. I went to see a doctor and did some tests and all the result were normal and my neck ultrasound also showed that there's no problem and doctor said it's a cartilage. I'm a bit scared since the lump is visible most of the time and feels like something stuck in my throat and choking. I would be grateful if you could help me with my problem. I'm a teacher and my voice is my best weapon. Looking forward to your response Doc. Thank you in advance and God Bless😊
I have the same feeling… i dont have any pain in my neck .. whenever i think of my neck , it just appears from nowhere .:. Yesterday i was with my friends in a party and i forgot about my neck and i had no problem but when i was returning home in my car i just remembered my throat and started again… while eating and drinking i have no problem… its been 1 month now i am facing this problem 😢
Thank you so much for this
Potatoes and chicken here, hate the feeling.
There is an illness called achalasia. Although it is unlikely, because it is quite rare, it might be worth looking into this. You would need to see an upper GI consultant rather than ENT.
Just want to say, I’ve only watched part 1 so far, and the this video, your presentation was outstanding! Thank you.
I genuinely thank God for you dr. You just took so much panic and anxiety from me.

Many desperate people finding it difficult to access any healthcare at the moment. So what was that?
Rule out tmj pain and eagle's syndrome@@ugabuga1361
Your voice is very calm, I can listen to you every day
it's the best detailed information I've heard or read so far. thank you for your valued information.

How did it go away ?

Thansboc
How did it go away?
Hi...I'd like to ask about the lump, did it also go away or went back to normal aftr taking ACV every morning?
What is ACV?
Apple cider vinegar
Do you take the ACV with water and do you take it before or after the meal? Thank you

Can you please tell me what calcium supplement and how many mg did you take? Thanks
@kevinschneider1707 How long after the calcium supplementation your globus sensation felt better?
I had globus hystrictus it was awful and I thought I had cancer eventually I had a camera down nothing was there it was anxiety and once I started realising this it totally disappeared

I need to get shares in cola! Glad that it works for you. Thanks for sharing your insight
Great awareness video doctor. God bless you. You are taking away the worries of many people. Thank you so much 😊
Great video. In my experience stress and anxiety is also a major factor in occasionally getting this.
Wow!

What was the treatment
In the US you can find Reflux Gourmet alginate therapy. I've experienced not so much a lump but instead a persistent tickle or itch in that region close to my vocal cords for over a year. Clearing my throat of a little mucus offers a few seconds of relief. My symptom is exacerbated by deeper breathing and travelling in the car with A/C on. ENT scope looked normal. I'll try more consistent use of alginate as you suggest to see if that helps. I've always used it on and off. I look forward to the next videos on this topic!
I hope you get what you need from the videos. Thanks for the comment
Did it help you?
I’m very worried about my condition now but thanks a lot doc for this tip. My ENT prescribed me 2 gaviscon advance and I felt some changes however I didn’t know that I need to continue for several weeks or months that’s why I still have the lumpiness feeling. I will continue to take as per your advise. Thank you so much this is very helpful 😊
@johnkennethatok68How do you feel, did you get better after continuing the syrup and how long did you take it?
So singing helped it? I'm a singer songwriter and finding singing uncomfortable right now with this horrible sensation
Im suffering with this and i thought maybe its throat cancer😢. Thanks for the video
And I have to wait for it to relax before I can breath Terrifying what diagnosis is that Please tell me
Awesome and profound message Dr. Same my drs have not come out with a proper diagnos, I am asthmatic and going through all you spoke.
Excellent information. Thank you for sharing Vik. Your sharing is very helpful and inspiring
Big thanks from New Zealand, your explanation gave me a sense of relief because it was exactly all about my problem
Thankyou for the video … great information …. Would be very interested in the meeting if you organise one.
Thank you, I want to see what the appetite is for this idea.

Hi, thanks for this. Any possibility that you can Zoom the proposed London event or record it and publish it?
I'll see if I can find a venue that would do this for me. Thanks for the idea.
Thank you for this video! 🙏 I have LPR, and this is very useful advice. Also encouraging, that there is hope to get back to normal life.
Fantastic! Thank you so much! Just finished a course of PPI yesterday. Will get Gaviscon Advanced today 👍
Very informative. I would be interested in your seminar in London. Please let me know the details. Thanks

I think mine is anxiety but it's not physically a lump
Exactly. Instant coffee are toxic. They’re poison to our body.
@@stephanthomson4804 coffee ☕️ is what I thought too.
Ohhh thank you for this info
Oh my god
This is exactly my symptoms
Thank you for your videos🙏🏼
I got that same thing what should I do
I may be jumping ahead….but what about neurosensory cough?
I think it causes inflammation because of the pepsin my tonsils are very irritated too because of it. How are you now?
I appreciate your breakdown of this condition. Now I understand. I been dealing w/ this miserable discomfort for 5 days now and just sick of it...
@@WhipzByBlue do you still have that sensation? I've had if for about 2 weeks now

Another great video Vik, I have made my next appointment to see you on July the 10th 😀
Looking forward to seeing you soon

I had a lump I throat years ago and now it's come back. It's the same as before. Poo is like rabbit droppings (sorry), burping and bits of food coming up. The lump is the worst feeling though. There is no escaping it. People keep telling me it's emotional, but I'm fine emotionally apart from the throat. Thank you so much for this video. I 'll try the G Advance you mentioned.
Kudos to you sir! Every single word meant a lot to me and it was explained in a beautiful way. Thanks a lot sir!! God bless you
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for this video.
God bless.
Thank you so much for posting this video, i feel so much better ❤❤
I truly think you need to open an off in Florida USA. i saw part one of your video and it's like you were talking about me I've had this feeling for over 20 years of something in my throat and saw countless specialists the the thick paste liquid test and the camera test Not one issued me that med. i felt the deference the day i took the liquid. thank you
So helpful and clear. Thanks! Off to buy some gaviscon advance ... and sending this video to my doctor!
Hi doctor Veer, that meeting sounds great. Could you do it online as well?
Not sure I can, it is looking overly expensive and I want to give people the chance to mingle with the speakers during a coffee break after each lecture. I'm trying to find a solution
@@VikVeerENTSurgeon Thank you very much for your reply. I understand. Meetings in person with the lecturers would be nice indeed.
Fascinating for me as I've been on a 'prole' for about 8 years. Thank you!
Very informative and helpful. I feel like I understand the feelings in my throat a lot better. Is there a substitute for Gaviscon Advance in the US?
I'm sorry I don't know anything about America, but someone here said on the comments that there was an alternative. Reflux alginate something
Assuming i found the correct one they have it on amazon
This is so interesting as I’ve been on omeprazole for years and it does nothing. Have severe OSA and can’t use anything for it as I have a permanent blocked left nostril and as soon as I lie down I cough and wretch with liquid coming up. Am awaiting a operation on an inflamed Turbinate also.
Would definitely be interested in coming to London to a seminar.
Your videos are so informative and I wish there were more ENT surgeons like you in the UK
I’m going to try gaviscon advance.
Thanks a lot for your informative video, it was very helpful, God bless you
Extremely interesting, where will I find part 2 and 3 please, or are they not online yet?
Couple of weeks for part 2 I think, sorry I'm a one man band with 68 hours a week job. Will do it though, the next should be easy for me.

HI Vik, can i get a copy of the book? Much appreciated your video as it gives me some peace of mind. I will try your advice and see how it works.
Thank you for making this video it's so informative and has really helped me a lot. Much love. ❤
Omg. I’m going to same thing listed here. The numbness scares me . Everything is scary
I had same situation
i try to manage it
It got better after 2 months
Greetings from Jordan. Thank you for the valuable information and advice.
Gavin’s on Advance really helped me. So thankful
How long did you use it?
Thank you! It would be nice if we had the advance in the US. Not a fan of PPIs. I have been on one since january for esophagitis and chemical gastropathy. I am still having the lump and reflux. It has improved but not gone.
Are u fine now
When I first experienced this I was terrified and I actually had a very dry mouth and throat and I couldn't breathe.
@@aquibalamLUMOS same, it started yesterday and I’m reading about it , idk if this keeps happening should I even go to the doctor or am I overreacting?

Hi Did you get the medication
Could u Please tell me what your symptoms were ....
Please I am feeling like I will pass out
