Acutally listerine helped me cure my periodontitis well to everyone who has gum problems i know using listerine hurts but i tell you, you won't regret using it. It maintains my good breath and my overall mouth healt though. It cured my gingivitis, plaque and also helped reduce my tar tar. Actually I've been using a lot of mouthwash products like colgate plax? But not to be biased or anything i tried comparing it to listerine but listerine did help me.
for real i lost my bad breath when i started using it.

Periodintitis cant be cured. Listerene can help keep it at bay. It can help remove symptoms of gingivitis.

Mouthwash are mild soap for your mouth with a taste of mint or some other pleasantly fresh tasting ingredients. Most mouth wash are basically just antiseptic wash to quickly kill a few microbial here and there but it's in no way a substitute to brushing.
My recommendation is if can't be bothered to floss your teeth then seriously consider visiting your dentist to get your mouth scaled at least twice a year and supplement that with good brushing habit.
Yes your entire mouth needs to be clean, not just your teeth. The rough surface of your tongue has tons of germs. That’s why it can get that whitish film on it. And it gives you bad breath too!

Justin well I've seen 1st hand, people I know who brushed everyday like your supposed to, who still had plaque stained teeth. they didn't have the time or money for dental visits. after they started using this product with brushing, their teeth became whiter and their gums healthier. noticeably so. the problem with most studies is they can be influenced by who's funding them. just like polling, as I've heard said many times, want to know the truth, follow the money.
Maybe it's just the result of new good eating habits?

The real issue here isn't that Listerine was a floor cleaner or that people were scared into thinking that their breath is bad. It's that it contains alcohol which dries out your mouth, which is counterproductive to keeping your mouth healthy.

I use off brand brown mouthwash to wash my leather seats in my car. Not only does it kill bacteria I believe it’s strong but gentle. So I think it was really funny when at the beginning of the video y’all said it was used as a cleaner.

I brush my teeth in the morning before work, then repeat at work after lunch and repeat after dinner before bed. I also floss as needed. Sometimes I would follow-up with a quick "Listerine cool mint" rinse. I've come to realize that Listerine causes me to suffer from intense headaches. I've only done home test after suspecting, however I am positive that Listerine hurts my head. I've stopped using Listerine and switched to another brand and as a result of switching brands, I no longer suffer from any side-effects by using the other product. Maybe there is something in Listerine that I'm allergic to? But again, it is confirmed to cause painful headaches for me. The side-effects I suffered from prompted me to look into this product. Interesting to say the least.

Don't use listerine, I can feel that my gums became more sensitive after 3 days of use (2× a day). My teeth did become whiter, but they feel weaker. Just stick to toothbrush and toothpaste.
Floss and brush. In Canada, they sell a "mouthwash" for $1.00 called Lavoris - sold at dollar stores and it works to kill bad breath - for the entire day. It has hydrogen peroxide in it - which used to be a treatment for EVERYTHING, and whitens my teeth! These overpriced things - all they do is take away the GOOD bacteria and leave you with the bad. True, brushing your tongue is helpful - also - bad breath can come from the stomach - so on an empty stomach, you can wreak. Try eating and then doing your dental routine with what I mentioned.

Listerine has essential oils witch can help reduce cariogenic bacteria, and therefore reduce the risk of cavities. The malodor(bad breath) is just a temporary fix. This video is interesting, and unorthodox. I would love to re-post it, but I can not substantiate the information. It would be nice if these types of videos sited their references so that the information can be confirmed as reliable. Just like in the academic world. I do not know about a floor cleaner, but Johnson and Johnson current owner of Listerine claims that it was used first as a surgical antiseptic in 1879. Tongue scraping or brushing is the best way to control malodor.
What if you fill your mouth with Listerine then you brush your teeth with the Listerine still inside so that when the brush loosens the plaque and germs the Listerine kills it?

I would bet that the no alcohol version, while it doesn't dry out your mouth, isn't as effective at killing germs.

Buy the Zero Alcohol Listerine. If it’s still strong, dilute it slightly. This worked for me. The Alcohol is probably burning and irritating your gums.

dandruff is a fungus, and listerine has a component in it that kills fungus. I think its thymol. Its supposed to work great on dandruff. Id rather use Listerine than head and shoulders anyday if i had dandruff

Thymol which is an herbal (yes, herbal) antiseptic and antifungal. People also wash their feet with it to kill odors. Doesn’t mean it also doesn’t have decades backing it to be a safe and effective mouthwash.
