Stunning color! Keeping the natural wood tones on the top and bottom gave this piece such a sophistication and elegant look. Beautifully executed.💖💖💖💖💖
That top is definitely Honduras Mahogany red color very tight grain. I built my living room coffee table with it. Yes I'm retired cabinet finisher and furniture builder.

@@ivylane-home I know what you mean about saving the good bits. Our kitchen table is like that. It started off life many years ago as a library table in a church library. Students would sit at these tables and do homework -- safe environment and all that. The whole table is made of oak, so the top could be sanded and saved. But the legs.... needed more help than that. Years of being scuffed by the shoes and boots of youth had left them with some scars too deep to sand out; there would have been something like a matchstick left there. I sanded and refinished the table top and painted the legs forest green. I had intended to use it as a laundry table, but it looked so good when I was finished, I had to have it in the living area of the house. We only have space in this house for a very small kitchen table, and a 35-inch round fits perfectly. It's an odd size, but was made that size to meet some space requirement in the church library that nobody even remembered any more. So it all worked out as if it had been intended that way all along!

I get that not everyone will like it or agree with the painting but that’s life, you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Nice job Lisa, another one saved from landfill 😘
You can always topcoat the areas you’re not keeping wood before you paint so it’s easier for someone to restore down the line if they wanted to.
