So, I just found out these weren’t termite holes… it’s Wormy Chestnut. Better safe than sorry?
You aught to change the description and video title then
@@denisefrandsen5106are you denise or theguy in the pic?
This piece is stunning 😍 I'd keep it and love it for now. 😊
@@noeraldinkabam I am Denise
It's still helpful and the right way to treat termites :)@@denisefrandsen5106
STUNNING and I mean STUNNING!!!! makeover on this piece!!! I’m envious of whoever is lucky enough to own this now!!
omg thank you so much!!! i kinda wish i kept it! but the new owner loves it :)
I’m obsessed with this piece! The milk paint and black wax were a perfect combo. Beautiful work, Abby!!
Thank you so much!!! I love this stuff 😍
Agreed! I am obsessed with it too, it was a stunning makeover!
I did an old buffet that the Verneer was falling off . I took it all off , sander & stained it…looks beautiful ! Still using it today 25 yrs later.
Love that!! This is why real wood construction is so amazing 😻
I must say your work is exquisite - well done. Attention to detail and the finish look is spot on no brush marks. Love your work so keep it up. You certainly have a craft in your hands
Thank you very much!
Girlllllllll , first of all hands down.... You are the master of patience... N your job outstanding....
Thank you so much!!
The idea and process of restoration rather than trashing something…what a win:-). Great job!
thank you so much!!
The prep work was a beast, always is, but well worth the effort in the end. This piece turned out amazingly beautiful, and your attention to detail is very impressive. I would not be able to part with it, no way. This is the first time I’ve seen your work and I’ve subscribed to your channel. Look forward to seeing more amazing makeovers!
Wow, thank you so much for subscribing!!
I much appreciate your honesty when you make a mistake for two reasons....it helps me to learn and as great as your furniture turns out it makes me think if even you can make a mistake maybe I'll be ok.
Oh wow! That wax transformed the look. Absolutely gorgeous!
thank you so much!
Very nice job. An alternate approach to the termites or wood worm: 20 Mule team borax /water/ small amount of dish detergent. Wash repeatedly, let dry , repeat 2-3 x. Fill holes, etc.
Powder post beetles, I think. Most likely while the tree was still alive, or dying. They have all left years ago. Those holes are from the larva burrowing out and eating along the way. Looks great!
thank you so much! I've heard woodworms and powder post beetles.. not sure the difference?
THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY MOM'S OLD CABINET!!!!!!! The only difference is, my mom's cabinet had a wooden design on the inside part of the glass that was only attached to the wood part of the door. My mom's cabinet came with a dining table with 6 chairs. It got passed down in our family.
That’s the best ❤ you should keep it in the family!
Too late. I already regret giving it away. :(@@flippedbyabby
Ive refinished some furniture, but not to the extent to which you have gone. Your skill is extraordinary. Keep going. I'll be waiting to see your next project
Thank you so much!
My mom had a cabinet just like this one. I was so sad to see all the damage. You did a great job. Great respect for the piece.
Thank you!
The TLC you put into salvaging this piece! I wouldn’t be able to sell it. Just gorgeous!!!!!
Thank you!!
You really did make a lovely job of refurbing that piece. 🥰🇬🇧🐾🐾❄️
Thank you!!
We can't get enough of this! Enjoying, therapeutic even, watching your full process. It makes the end result even sweeter. ✨🙌
Thank you so much!!
Beautiful piece, love how it turned out. You kept that antique charm.
Thank you so much!
Wow! One of my favorites you’ve done! It looks SO good. I love the wood grain still popping though. It’s clean and would look good in any home yet you saved the original character of it.
Thank you so much!!! It’s my current favorite 🤩
You can use white vinegar and get it Warmed up. Then put the hard wear in and let it soak. I collect early antiques and I find that white vinegar works well without the abrasive. Plus it’s good for cleaning gold and silver jewelry. I don’t usually like these furniture flipping videos but you did a good job with this piece. Kudos.
Great tip! For the hardware? Thank you so much!
@@flippedbyabby you’re most welcome.😁
I use this method as well. I've also done it on my own kitchen handles. Even though the handles look really clean, you'd be surprised by how much junk is on them 🤮 I then just wipe off any residue with a microfibre cloth
@@annieallardyce7613 that’s why you use a toothbrush just be gentle. . My jewelry and dresser hardware come out spotless.
Agreed. Use 50% vinegar, 50% water. Put the hardware in a pan and when it starts boiling you stop it. With gloves (don’t want to burn your hands) use a toothbrush and start with dish soap. Run water over it and the, once again with the toothbrush, use brasso. It’s none abrasive. You will get the most beautiful finish.
Hello from The Republic of Ireland 👋🏻☘️ What a beautiful job! 🙌🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
This was a true labor of love and a joy to watch. It turned out gorgeous! I don't think I could part with it.
Thank you so much!!
You did a spectacular job. This is a true labor of love. I just couldn't sell it.
Thank you so much! It was hard to part with 😭 but the new owner loves it
Wow….you did a fabulous job! It’s stunning. I love the color, and I agree, I’m glad you cleaned the nobs. I was wondering if those were worm holes as I have furniture like that. Well, nobody will have to worry about this ever getting damaged thanks to you!
Thank you so much!
It’s is truly beautiful. You did an amazing job
Thank you!
Love your "Paint Pants" you are a true DIY'er.
A beautiful and sympathetic refinish. One of the best I’ve seen.
Thank you so much!!
Hello, I love how this turned out! I really like the color and I really like how the wax looks on there I'm going to have to try this wax. It turned out to be such a beautiful piece.

From start to finish… wonderful job! Such care and attention to details👍🏾
Thank you so much!
Awww Breathtakingly beautiful I so so enjoyed your video in this amazing transformation congratulations.Eva from Scotland xx
Thank you so much!
I’ve read in forums online that you can make your own mix of Borax and water instead of purchasing an expensive product to treat for termites. I haven’t done this, but plan to do a bit more research. Happy painting!
Is stunning, a vintage smaller furniture piece that may fit anywhere in the dining room or kitcken. Great job!
Yes! Thank you!
I have my husband’s grandmothers cabinet very similar. No real damage just needs a good clean and finish refresh.
That is awesome!
WOW!!! So much work for this one BUT she is absolutely amazing! Great Job Abby!

Stunning piece, you highlighted the details just enough, now it is sophisticated and velvety, plus your staging was perfect! I have subscribed:)
Yay!! Thank you so much for subscribing 😊
@@flippedbyabby I just saw the video clip where you show the nasty comments......try to not let them get to you....I have been flipping furniture for many many years since I was 15 and I am almost 60 now. I trained in London in design college and believe me, your piece inspired me to start up again! I would have done exactly the same. The water damage would have made all the veneer loose and would have bubbled over time so better you dealt with it now than later......you were going to paint the piece anyway so replacing the veneer was not necessary. These Ego trolls want to stand on their soap box and tell everyone they are doing everything wrong. They are entitled to their claims regardless it is a free world after all. In the meantime all you need is one person to fall in love with your piece and job done......if I lived in US, I would have snapped that up! Keep on with your gorgeous flips, I for one love them!
Beautiful, wow! Great job. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much!
This is truly beautiful and I learned so much. Thank you!!

Fantastic job you've done, it's so beautiful and if it was mine I would definitely have to keep it.
Thank you very much :)
I have refinished several pieces over the years. Good job.
That is awesome! Thank you!!
I love when these old Pease of furniture are restored. There Beautiful made of real wood. There also part of our furniture history. Great Job. From Sparks , Nevada😊
Ok, you have convinced me now that removing the damaged veneer is the right thing to do 😢. The fear of dismembering and possibly irreversibly damaging a beautiful piece of history is now a lot less scary. Thank you❤
It's definitely a slight risk because you never know what the wood underneath looks like! I had no other option because it was so waterdamaged
While I'm generally against painting most older furniture there was not much hope for that one.. Nice job.
Thank you!! It was definitely in rough condition
Beautiful ! Great job. You respected the antique style.
Thank you so much!
That’s beautiful, very posh looking. 😊
Thank you! 😊
Love this! Almost looks like the color is milk chocolate and I like how you distressed the edges. It’s so cool how a piece evolves…
Thanks so much 😊

I used to work at an antique place n flipped for yrs. You could get much more if you wait it out n list it in proper places. ❤ I love that paint for Romany reasons ❤
