Fun fact, Barkeeper's friend is NOT an abrasive, but a mild acid cleaner made from RHUBARB and other vegetable waste! It's the natural Oxalic acid from the plants that does most of the cleaning without abrading. Who knew? The acid is what cleans the metal so well as it gets rid of the oxidation.
Great info ... thanks , genius friend !
Yes, it can also be used as a wood bleach on dark water stains or rings. It’s great stuff to have on hand.
@@salvagedbykscott thank you. Good to know. I just got some again.
Good to know
Yikes! I eat rhubarb! Love it actually 🤣...JK
The finish is so soft, you’d just want to brush your hand over this piece of furniture. The finish is night and day. It’s 3.20am in Australia and your restoration makes not sleeping a little easier to bare.
You are so cute, she bared the wood, and it became bearable for you to take! 😊❤
Great
Love it!
mad respect for you always being so careful and educational about PPE, hazardous waste, lead paint, etc. This is absolutely beautiful too!
Yes yes and yes! Just what I wanted to say too! Appreciate!
I doubt she does… lol it’s RUclips. Hahahahhaha
What would you do with the piece if it tested positive for lead?
I like the washed look it’s a lot better than covering up that beautiful grain with regular painting
You're giving another life to pieces of furniture, you're literally a saviour
You have such a good eye. This lighter color looks great on this older piece. I love it. I have to try it.
Seeing the raw wood exposed is so satisfying - my favorite part of refurbishing videos!
I love this look, you’ve done an amazing job. You’re inspired me to start on a set of drawers I’ve had for ever.
For large, unwieldy pieces of furniture, I use tie down straps, lightly tighten them, adjust and glue as necessary and then tighten it to dry overnight. It doesn't mark the wood but holds the entire thing like a giant vice.
Great idea!
This is such a pretty finish. I imagine if you had a whole set and did it in this finish it would be a beautiful bedroom. You did a great job Katie as always.
It is a gorgeous piece. I think a whole bedroom suite would be a bit too monochromatic. This one signature piece is lovely as a stand alone. (To each their own though!)
Beautiful transformation. Love how the beige shows off the wood grain. Awesome job.
This darling has had a classy, modern makeover. Understated & totally elegant. 💝
It turned our really soft and pretty, Katie. Love it.
You are ever the consummate professional! This piece turned out so gorgeous! The soft tones of the wood is modern, yet takes nothing away from the age and elegance of this dresser.
Wow!! Love the finished product. You "reimagined" this ugly duckling right into a stunning swan. Beautiful.
That turned out absolutely beautiful
The perfect finish for this piece. Just beautiful!
This piece turned out beautifully. You do superb work.
For a gal who has never done anything like this, but now a 1st-time (broke..lol) homeowner with some old (inherited/came with the house) furniture, your video made me excited to start my projects! thank you!
congratulations
I love this so much, great job, wow !!!!!!!
How absolutely gorgeous.
Wow! Amazing transformation. I looks amazing.
It’s so nice to see a piece of history saved from becoming part of a land fill. You really did a great job. Time and talent paid off. The dresser is awesome.cheers
Katie, you are SO talented. it's BEAUTIFUL!
Wow! You really made a great tutorial. You obviously have an eye for this. The end-product is beautiful.
Unbelievably gorgeous! Love what you did. ♥️
It looks stunning Katie!
I think it's very interesting. I mean that in a good way. It almost looks like bare wood, almost - perhaps because it's so soft and neutral. It feels like the finish is very wood forward. Great catch and fix on the side panel/drawer slides. Yay to Mr. Salvage for the assistance. I'm really glad you did the drawers as well. I find it so nice when the insides are loved up too.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL
Oh, wow! The result looks beautiful
I really like that finish - simple, clean and elegant. Also agree that doing the inside of the drawers works.
Great Look. Phenomenal Transition. Lot of work 😮

She shook her head a little ...
and bit her lip -- "there's work ahead "
It took the days she thought and then some ...
Warm tea in hand and a restful few minutes ... let her admire the sueded
glow ... soft and rich and so quietly different
You saw the age but it shone with a new freshness ...
She shook her head a little ...and bit her lip ... " I may keep this "...
She turned out the light
Kai, these mean so much to me ❤️ They genuinely warm my heart and make me smile every week. Love you!
😊❤....always !
Thank you. You say it do well.
So beautiful. Love that finish.
I like paint washes better than stain. This one is gorgeous ❤
Me too, it’s suits the old furniture perfectly.
It was so satisfying watching the white paint come off
From the middle of California, I'd like to say how very much I enjoy each and every one of your videos! You are adorable, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and you're even a great teacher for newbies like me. Thank you darling girl!!! Lovely.
Excellent tutorial! I am going to redo my coffee table top using that technique. You are a great teacher!
It was definitely worth all your effort and time! It finished up in splendid form.
You showed a good eye and bought a solid piece of furniture that was worth all the work. The result is great again and the once shabby furniture shines in new splendor. Greetings from Brussels...
Sooo much better! Beautiful restoration
Gorgeous, Gorgeous,
Well Done!
Nice job Katie. So glad you reused the mirror.
A much needed makeover...stunning!!
That’s gorgeous looks simple but elegant minimal love it ❤
It's lovely.....my Grandmother had a smiliar dresser in her bedroom. Her's wasn't a tiger oak look...just dark brown. Your redo gives that piece such a happy look.
So gorgeous. It’s nice to see that you used a color other than the white wash everyone does. Love this piece🤎🤎🤎🤎
Wow what a beautiful job you do!!! Congratulations 🎉 and you help the planet also!
Wow, I'm the first in! Would you attempt this on oak cabinets, and if so would you do anything differently? It seems during the general hate on yellow oak, and craze for shaker, everyone tried to obscure the grain. But I now see a small quiet trend towards accentuating it, along with the more prominent patterns in marble. BTW when I was a kid they called this "pickling".
Kaaaatiiieeee ..yayyy.
Perfect timing.
I clean my house to your videos. It is just the right mix if doing and inspiration and someone also working while you do, and not too distracting but occupying thoughts halfway is enough. Just perfect.
I feel like I'm learning a language in the background or something. And I play them a couple times and peek when I get curious or replaying can catch something I need to learn/see.
Wow that finish is nice. Good job.
Stunning piece. Thank you for saving these furniture pieces.
Wow, wow, wow! Beautiful!!
Gorgeous!
Thanks Katie! You've inspired me to get back into my favorite hobby! This piece is gorgeous!
Simply elegant, Katie!!!
This is so soft and lovely! I really like the beige wash. I think you’ve solved my problem of what to do with my ‘80s bedroom set which is looking rather worse for wear after 40 years of continuous use!🌸
A true furniture artist...Love it❤❤❤
Pretty sure you are my new hero Katie Beautiful results! Thank you.
Looks bloody lovely 👍🏻🇬🇧💐
Gorgeous piece of furniture...amazing color.
It came out amazing. I love the color and the matte finish.
Very warm color. Nice job.
Wow, what a beautiful result. This truly took patience, passion and expertise to pull this off. Amazing.
You did a great job and it looks very nice. Kudos for wearing proper respirator when using those chemicals and disposing of the scraped paint properly. A few suggestions from someone who has been refinishing furniture for 50 years. You can get the exact same effect at half the time and not wasting so much paint or tung oil finish by applying each of those wearing gloves with a cotton rag rubbing it into the wood and wiping at the same time. Also when putting putty on areas of the wood you will save a lot of time sanding it off and get a better affix to the wood by using a flexible putty knife rather than a popsicle stick.
WOW, WOW, WOW...what a fantastic job you did Katie!
Quickly becoming one of my fav piece!
Love how you just do a perfect job everytime..😊
What a great, yummy mid-tone! Not too light, bright or dark, not too red or yellow.
That is a very handsome piece of furniture, excellent results!
So pretty🎉, and you are so kind in donate them all.Beautiful pieces❤
I love it I bought an old piece of furniture and that’s the way I would like to finish it never flipped furniture before but there’s always a first time thanks for sharing
This piece turned out stunning!! I scored a few night stands for free in a front yard 'come and take it' situation and can't wait to use what I have learned from you to refinish them! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world!
Free is Better than paying $60 at auction!
OMG, 10 out of 10. Absolut perfection!
Absolutely gorgeous
I love paint wash finishes... great job but very labour intense.
Wow! Katie. I just love it. Night to day. It’s perfect. Look what long hard work can do. I’m going to use the same process on my dark pieces. Great👍🥰
This is gorgeous. Looks so much better then when others come in with the bright crazy two toned colors. You kept it simple. Bravo!!!👏👏❤
