Gasp!!! You did an unbelievable restoration on this piece! That wood grain 😍You’re so talented, Lisa! An absolute inspiration for sticking through the hard stuff❤
Did you ask Robinson Glass? I would stain or do somethng to make that reddish base look darker. This is an excellent piece and you did an amazing job. So glad you used oil. Loved that idea to use the washer.
I didn’t. I only talked with the front desk staff, but someone there might have an idea. Yes, others mentioned the base Honestly, in person it looks great but many seem to think it needs to be black 🤔🖤
Thank you for showing all of the veneer repairs - sometimes it’s really helpful to have many samples of technique for future reference. ❤ I love the washer solution with the hardware too. The final result - just WOW!! Gorgeous.
The mirror was likely attached with a bolt through the hole in the vanity and a thin nut in the slot on the mirror. There could have also been a small bracket from the vanity to the base of the mirror to keep it from twisting. It is a beautiful piece!
Oh my I love this piece. Boy did you get lots of practice with blending in repairs, practice makes perfect. I also love the wood grain, I agree with the oil finish you used. Great job. ❤
You dedication to all those veneer repairs were amazing! Also, your decision to oil the piece was perfect. Lastly, using those washers to mount your hardware was genius…bravo!👏 so beautiful!,
I think anyone lucky enough to own such a beautiful, antique piece isn’t going to mind the repairs. They’re beautifully done and you breathed new life into this gorgeous snap in time. Such incredible work Lisa. You’re quickly becoming my favorite RUclipsr. Love how you always keep it honest and real and keep working to perfect your craft.
I think it looks beautiful. To give a second life to such a unique, unusual piece is a great talent to have. I don’t imagine anybody else is going to have anything like it.
I share the excitement of finding this furniture. I shopped endlessly for a vanity when redoing my granddaughter's bedroom. I saw so many unique pieces! This is awesome! Take it to an antique restorer
You did an absolutely amazing job on this quirky, beautiful piece. I love art deco and it always makes me think of a 30s movie star sitting at the vanity and putting on her makeup or just admiring herself in the mirror. Sterling work! I really enjoyed watching you house the correct veneer and I think if I watch it a couple more times I will try it. Thanks! Beautiful work!
I love this project. I wonder if it had a rod through and also some kind of metal hinge to secure it. It’s obviously top heavy. It looks very dansk danish to me
Hahaha my favorite thing is reading “paint the base” comments because if you did they would say “OMG YOU CRIMINAL YOU RUINED IT.” Phenomenal work Lisa. As always, your patience is unparalleled
Great video! I have no advice on how to attach the mirror. I love this piece. So unique and beautiful. I think you did it justice and restored it to its former glory.
Wasn't sure I would like this, but I am gobsmacked. Your veneer repairs have really advanced, looks like you have mastered another new skill! That oiled finish is incredible. The new hardware is really elevated. Chestler is one of my favorite colors. You will have a happy client!
Oh Lisa…that wood! 🤩🤩🤩❤️❤️❤️. Don’t diminish your repairs, they are so well done I would never even notice, as I’m sure is true for most people. Just wondering , is this piece a dressing table? Trying to visualize since I’ve never seen anything like it before. You are so accomplished. Thank you for sharing. And enjoy your new piece….I’m sure you will. 🥳🙌🏻
I’m behind in my viewing schedule 🫣 I voted for this piece & holy smokes it’s as stunning as I knew it would be! No suggestions for the mirror, I’m sorry, but tons of respect for the work you had to do! Beautiful call on the wax ❤❤❤

And I third that I was going to say one of the things I learned is when adding those little pieces of veneer while the glue is still wet add some of the sanding dust in and it will look more blended in where u can’t really tell unless u no where the repair places are
Absolutely agree, Trena, from John's furniture Repair is the best!! It's a steel rod that goes in the hole, then a metal bracket attachment. She will help you! Good luck & a Absolutely great find!!

I am old as dirt so I can remember furniture like this growing up. It lasted a life time .The pieces offen had black bases or black somewhere on them. I also believe this has a black base because of the marble. It turned out to be beautiful.
From the looks of it, the support may have been a bolt that just went up into the mirror thru a T bracket or a couple of L brackets that were fixed to the back of both parts. There may have been a mounting bit behind the mirror (inside the hollow) that helped stabilize the whole thing. The safest way without trying to remove the mirror to add all that stuff is probably finding a way to get some L brackets and a rod you can glue in, screwing those L brackets to the back and adding some more brackets towards each end. Not the most stable but will hold it if you're not moving it a lot.
I love the original design and how you worked with it so faithfully; eye-catching!! As for these older pieces, to be more usable, I would like to have a base added to most of these so as to accomodate the height(s) of today's people.
Beautiful, I'm so glad that you didnt stain the wood. The grain pattern, and tones of the wood is just gorgeous. I really love how the mirror is lighter it goes beautifully with the base😊😊😊. Fab job on the veneer repairing, you should be so stoked on how well it came out❤ for the mirror, maybe a steel dowel? With a metal support to connect the back of mirror to the back of the piece ? As added support with the metal dowel?
Thanks Michelle! I'm sure stain would have been pretty too, but I just didn't think it needed it. I might have evened out my repairs though. Yes, I'm thinking metal too. It would sturdier.
@ivylaneinteriors that's what I think, cause you said it's so heavy. Then one of those like t shaped brackets for the added support for the mirror to the piece. Cause of the extra holes that were there on both
What an outstanding job. Love the hard wax oil finish on this piece. It’s perfection. I’m not sure people would have fussed about making the base darker. It looks like it was dark to begin with. I use Fusion mineral paint and I love it.

Mit einer Gewindestange sollte es halten.
I need a black ebony stain on the base to pick up the black in the veneer. I love this piece.
