Absolutely Gorgeous! The stain is awesome. The color of the piece goes ideally with the stained top. The use of gold, just the little details, makes the piece unique, elegant and interesting! Thanks so much for sharing
I am viewing this channel to learn how correctly refinish furniture before I proceed with a few pieces that I own and intend to keep. It’s all very fascinating but I can’t help to already feel EXHAUSTED before I’ve even attempted anything!!
Well, the nice thing about starting with your own pieces is that you can take your time and practice on those pieces. Your first pieces might be a little rough, but you’ll learn and improve with each piece. 🙌🏼
Lisa, you're the professional, so I'm not going to be upset with you if you paint a piece or not lol. You can clearly see what's wrong and you know what to do for the best outcome. If I had a piece of furniture that needed work, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to you and let you decide what is the best for it. Your finished piece is just gorgeous and I think yours was the winner. Thank you so much for sharing!
That is the most beautiful Jacobean piece I have ever seen! I'm not a fan of Jacobean furniture. Most of what I've seen is black, old, and dreary looking. You really made this one come to life!
Well done! Nice flip. I love the gold to accent the details, a very nice homage to the design. And I like the end result. And the winning piece is beautiful. I'm not usually into transfers, but this was beautiful. I like the earthy tones. lovely and unique.
Thanks! Yes, I’ve never done transfers either. I think I like them best when people paint the edges and embellish the actual transfer to make it look hand painted. I’m not very artistic like that though 😅
Well, the veneer on these antique pieces is thin. I don’t want to risk blowing through veneer. And really once I have stripped the majority of finish sanding doesn’t take too long 🤷♀️
There are probably as many of us who like the painted route as don’t. Each piece is an individual in what can be done. I totally trust you. You do beautiful work!!! I think you made all the right decisions. Gorgeous!
I enjoyed your video so much. As for the “haters”…..don’t they understand that you are the Queen Wood Wizard? Goodness, I never question your judgement, you are always spot on and your projects turn out spectacular. And this one did not disappoint. Loved it. Wasn’t sure about that tan wash ( not a fan)….not a hater tho…🤪…. but in the end it was beautiful. And the winner of your challenge did a first rate job. Congratulations to all. ❤❤❤
My dad refinished furniture as a hobby & beat it into my head as a kid “you don’t paint wood.” So, I initially freaked out @ paint but it’s so pretty I’m all in 😊 The right paint on the right piece with the right artist makes a world of difference! (I love the gold!)
Gorgeous!….all the entries were absolutely stunning! …the winner was beautiful..but my favorite was the sewing machine redo into a dressing table..so creative and beautiful!..Good job to all!❤❤❤
This is a beautiful piece. I wasn't sure if I would like the dead salmon color, but it looks fantastic, especially with the romance theme. I love the contrast between the light paint and dark stain on top. It is stunning!
I love it! It’s always nice if you can refinish a piece to its before but I think one quality of a good artist is to recognize when you can’t and so you pivot. This was one of those times and I think now it has a beautiful new life❤❤❤ Awesome job 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾
I like this color, and love the gold accents, they are really beautiful, but for my home, I would have probably chosen the blue. Ideally, the way it was is the best option, but better painted than trashed! You did a great job!
End result is gorgeous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Had a thought 💭…if you gild like that again using that paint, you could load the paint into one of those glue syringes & gently release the paint into those grooves? What do you think 🤔?
I think that yours is the best piece of the Challenge. Dead Salmon doesn't exactly have a poetic ring to it, but it is the perfect color for that dresser. I was kind of surprised at the choice of stain for the top (I was thinking walnut, like actual Jacobean furniture had), but I really like how your tones complement the almost-pink of the paint. The gilding is just enough and really brought it home! You gave the old gal some femininity and a little glam, and now she can enjoy a whole new life!
I love your choices. Only one different from my picks. I Loved the fuschia French? dresser with the center highlight. So unique. Not for everyone, but the idea was amazing to me. My #1 was the other dresser
I really like it. What would I do differently? I would do the "flourishes" the same hue but a different lightness so they would be more appreciated as with the original factory color choices. So beautiful though, the work that you did!
Have you checked out Furniture Fables? Good tips on taking the middle ground on painting vs refinishing creatively. Like stripping the veneer off drawers & stenceling over the solid wood. (Similar to what Kathy did with transfers.) It can be beautiful. Kathy understood that. I spotted her as my choice for winner the first time you showed her entry. An old lady can be modern, rustic, And beautiful. And aren't the flipper challenges an opportunity to go outside the business model box? Kathy has some wow techniques in her skill set. Layering gell stain tickles my curiosity. Also Love your stripping tips. Thanks for the contest. I hope you get loads of views.

Thanks Sophia! I really debated over the details, but I think it turned out in the end.
I would much rather see it painted than pitched in a landfill. Not every piece can be revived... unfortunately. New life and new chapter. ❤
I agree wholeheartedly 🫶
Beautiful❤
That was a much needed makeover!!!😊
Thank you! 😊 agreed!

That is beautiful! I love the nutmeg stain. The gold was perfect. All of the ladies did beatuiful work, but your winner was stunning!
Aw, thank you! 🫶😊
Really nice. Love the nutmeg on the top, everything together looks really great. ❤
Thanks so much 😊 I love the combo too!

I am constantly amazed by the amount of hand sanding!

Aw, Lisa, you are so sweet! Right?! I try to save wood when I can. 🤷♀️
I really debated on that top, but I think it ended up being the right tone. 🤩
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your expertise.

So excited to see what you do to this piece 👏
Thanks Natalie! 🤩
Looks beautiful and looks timeless after the makeover.
Thank you! 😊
This looks stunning Lisa! I love that Farrow & Ball colour, with the warmer wood tone and the gold pigment - it’s the perfect trifecta! 🎉🤩😍
I agree! Thanks sweetie! 🤩

I wish I could hand paint, but I’m not an artist like that. ☺️
I don't use Instagram, I would love to see more of her work..oh well. Love the pieces! You all did a great job!

I agree and the buyer loved it which is the most important. 🤩🙌🏼

I was very skeptical but, I stand corrected.. beautiful job ❤️❤️

I think it came out fabulous. I actually like it better painted out.
Well, thank you very much! 🙌🏼😊
Looks great
Thanks!
I’m glad you went with the darkened top.
Me too! 🤩
Beautiful!!!!!
What do you think of Command paint from BM? Pro’s and Con’s?
I loved it! Dries in 15 minutes and recoat in 1 hour. It sprayed like a dream too. I don’t have a con yet. I’ll definitely be using it again.
End result is gorgeous 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Had a thought 💭…if you gild like that again using that paint, you could load the paint into one of those glue syringes & gently release the paint into those grooves? What do you think 🤔?
Well, the little grooves weren’t smooth or very deep, so I’m not sure if that would work or not. 🤷♀️
That eyebrow statement made me smile!
😅🙌🏼
Quite impressive!
Thanks! 😊
Love it !!! Just don’t like hearing the hand sanding!!! That color is stunning.
I always do antique walnut stain on all wood
Ha! I’ll have to remember to turn down the volume on that! 😅
It’s amazing how antique walnut can look so different on different wood species. 🤔
Beautiful and I love the Nutmeg color ❤
Me too! 🤩
I think that yours is the best piece of the Challenge.
Dead Salmon doesn't exactly have a poetic ring to it, but it is the perfect color for that dresser. Gorgeous 🤎🤎
Thanks so much!! 🤩🙌🏼
It killed me when said you were going to paint it. Too bad you couldn’t haves stained it again, but it did come very beautifully. Impressive! ❤
I know, it was a little sad, but she is lovely in Dead Salmon! The buyer loved it! 🥰
Farrow and Ball have some very good primers. I haven’t used them with a spray gun but they are a lovely finish.
I should check them out!
I love your choices. Only one different from my picks. I Loved the fuschia French? dresser with the center highlight.
So unique. Not for everyone, but the idea was amazing to me.

Dead salmon - dead gorgeous. You saved this and gave it new life.
It’s such a great color in person! 🤩

What is the white filler in a plastic container that you are using to fill chips in the veneer?
It’s DAP wood filler.
😊 cannot wait to see what you do 😊
