This is absolutely lovely and I love the muted and blended earth colors and aged look! Such a transformation from a piece of junk to something handsome and beautiful! Your end result is very much admired.
This project was labor intensive. You totally were on your game. Loved the video, thanks for showing the steps. I enjoyed the way you explained everything ❤ Thanks for telling us the terrific news about the sale
The foot you fixed does look amazing. I’m happy this piece stayed out of the landfill and now will live on as a beloved piece in its new life. Great job! It was in horrible shape when you got it, you transformed it.
I'm SOOOO encouraged because EVERY project I do I go though the SAME thing. My hubby always reminds me, "You do this EVERY time. Just let go and have FUN!". It looks GREAT.
The foot repair is amazing! The piece is awesome!!!!! The colors and the texture are so interesting! I absolutely love it! It's a bit like rusted without the red tones of rust but still it's very alive... like a metal decomposition ! Your efford and trials were worth it ! This chest was like a blank canvas and you made unique and Sarah style! Thanks so much for sharing. I love that you have the confidence and the boldness to redo a piece ...
Thank you for saving this beautiful Lane cedar chest. I have one handed down from my Mom, and I cherish. It is now at my daughter's house, and Im hoping will be handed down to one of my granddaughters. Your hard word and persistance certainly paid off. Great job.
And that is a Sarah piece! Textured, antiqued, artistically messy( a huge compliment because it is sooo very hard to get it right.). This piece is what sets you apart and makes you special in my furniture world. Only you can give pieces, textured “old world” charm. Bravo!!!
Sarah this is my style all day long. I think it's one of my favorites. Up there with your wardrobe .. I'm glad you put your heart into it and trusted yourself.
You nailed this project!! What a gorgeous transformation for a trunk that was literally treated as "junk". It was amazing to see how light the wood is now and how the painting techniques you applied, changed the trunk's personality making it more versatile as décor. It is so rewarding to watch you save pieces from the landfill, not just for our earth, but for the sheer joy of revaluing something that was thought to be a lost cause. You have the awesome ability to assess the structural bones and massage the design until you bring the essence of the piece to the surface. It's so healing, to watch the repairs. I have a serious appreciation for the way you are willing to go beyond what's comfortable, and tackle processes, like wood bleach. You've made me feel brave to step outside my own comfort zone, because the results are truly worth it. This is one of my favorite pieces of all time! ❤
Ahhh Cassie thank you lovely!! I wasn't sure there for a minute that I was going to finish it! Happy I did though!!! You blow me away with what you said it is so kind...I don't really think I do anything special...just trying my best not to make it worse 😆 but that said I really do appreciate your encouragement! And the fact that it is your favourite makes my day xx
Ahhh well you are lovely. When I first saw it hope just hoped I didn’t make it worse 😂 as I went on I was worried 🤣🤣 but relieved to finish it! Hope you’re good friend
You are just amazing! I love watching your work...your quirky, don't take yourself too seriously, go with the flow attitude really helps me be willing to experiment!
Woah thank you, Michelle! So appreciate the encouragement. I definitely try not to take myself too seriously. Glad that comes across in the videos. It definitely makes the whole process of painting, furniture more enjoyable. 😂🥰. Have a lovely week.
I love you, Sarah. Been tending to health issues but I’m good now. You make me happy, just watching you work. My studio has been waiting for me with several projects. Cheers, girl.
Oh no Ann!!! I’m so sorry friend you’ve been having to face that. Thinking of you right now! So happy you find my silliness a happy distraction. Hope you can get back to it very soon! Sending you love ❤️
Wow. That is stunning. Imagine how many people will try to replicate the finish you just put on that. She is beautiful and I know I would have wanted to keep it also.
Girl, You’ve got skills! The hot glue mold technique, was phenomenal! It breaks my heart to see items trashed, that could be refurbished. So happy you saved and restored this piece. It is beautiful!!✨
Ahhhh thanks Denise! You are super kind. I am with you. Hate seeing pieces that could’ve been saved just throw away. That hot glue trick has been a game changer for me.
I think the most important thing is to enjoy ourselves because if not it becomes work and that’s not the goal. Such a beautiful piece, you always do such a great job 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I love that crusty, old faded mottled look. It turned out so well. The stamps peek out perfectly and the colours are great. Your repair of the damaged foot is amazing too. The person who thought of that trick deserves a medal.
I love to watch your channel. Sometimes it makes me sad because I remember all my family who were furniture repairers and refinishers and sellers of antiques and the good smells of wood and chemicals and waxes and the sounds of their voices. Other times the memories make me happy. Coming here I get part of my past back and feel the wood in my hands and remember the little tasks they gave me to do.
Ahhh Diane 🥰🤗 such a beautiful memory. I get how those memories are both bitter and sweet. I’m so touched that you enjoying watching it means so much. Thank you 🥰🤗
I’m 75 and flip furniture for family, friends and myself. I have a Lane cedar chest from 1967 and it’s on my list to do next. My health hasn’t been good for last year so postponed it. Thanks for sharing and inspiration to get started.💕💕
This turned out so nicely. Imagine it was going to go into the dumpster and now it’s going into a home to be used and loved. Really like how you share your creative process, the ups and downs of it all. Very interesting ❤
I loved that you tried all the things, even if it didn’t worked out…until it did. The end result is fantastic, love seeing you my friend! Also, congratulations on the sale.
I never miss your videos, they teach me so much. You r very talented and I love what you love in remaking a piece…I like your taste in old things and an old look. Love the end results of this piece…another masterpiece.
I think it's wonderful that you rescued that piece and gave it new life... We all have different tastes, and the shabby finish is not my personal favorite, but you did a great job and made a success of your project.
Wow, that foot-fix was spot on! Good for you for having the vision to rescue this piece but even if it never became reality, you would still have had multiple pieces of nice wood out of it and still for free. I can appreciate the finish you did, even though it isn't something I personally could use. Good job! And congratulations on getting a great price for it, too🤩
I didn't think I was going to like this but I was wrong. I think it looks lovely and could see this at the foot of the bed holding blankets. Congrats on the quick.sell!
creating a mould to create a bondo replacement for the missing piece of the foot is one thing learned that I may use in the future. I have a free secretary desk/dresser combo that a dog has chewed a corner and am going to give the hot glue mould making a try. It is a piece that I want to keep for myself, it likely is from the late 40s and have seen one for $700.. Still trying to decide whether to scuff sand and paint, or to strip, stain, and poly. I love natural wood. Thank you for posting the video.
It’s a process, sometimes the vision in your head is different from the vision before you. You know I’m a huge fan ❤ and love your process. I also love that you donate your finished pieces and your time. You have a big heart Sarah, we need more big hearts today🥰
I love watching your videos because I love taking older pieces myself and making them more modern. Giving them some love and tlc for someone else to love for years to come. I always get amazing tips and ideas from you and you give directions so easily. Amazing ❤

I’m old-ish. I’m 74. I like your energy & your style. But you come up with so many ideas, all at the same time! Now, when I get “overloaded” with ideas, I have learned it saves time in the long run to DO NOTHING. Wait. Draw a mock up design. Practice colors on notebook paper, not the final object. Sit down & rest. Go shopping for shoes or a handbag. Take it slow.
I Love How you Created that beautiful Texture BUT at Same Time Made the Wood appear as to Being Present...All With Paint and Major Talent and creativity...you're amazing my friend AMAZING 🤩❣️🙌

I love the hot glue trick to replace broken foot. I don't know why she painted it so many times. Not a fan of the finished colt or patina but liked watching her.
Hey Anne glad you liked the hot glue trick. As far as the painting goes, I was trying things out they didn’t work and that last look is definitely not a look for everybody but I’m glad you still enjoyed watching it. Have a good week.
I am happy you were able to give this piece a new life & keep it out of the landfill. Even though it appears that I’m in the minority, I really didn’t care for the finished look. But there are many who would love it in their home. Either way, you’ve made it useable again. Great job!
I appreciate that Jeanie, thank you. You were right this look is not for everybody, love that we are all different. What look do you enjoy? I’d love to know.
Such an amazing transformation. I love everything about it. And that foot you repaired,,,,WOWSIE, if we hadn't seen that it was missing a piece, we'd never know. I don't think there is anything you can't do when it comes to furniture. As always, GREAT job Sarah and thanks for another great video. 💜
I just found your channel and can’t tell you how happy I am that I did!! Just this one video has encouraged and inspired me so much and I can’t wait to watch more! Thank you so much for taking us through the full process of each step you took to reach such a stunning final result!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Oh my goodness thank you. Welcome! I’m so happy you found it too and not only that - you were encouraged that truly makes my day to hear that. Thank you 🥰
Love DIY Paint. Just an FYI for anyone not in the US, the Black Velvet is not their true black, it has a blue undertone. Little Black Dress is their TRUE black and its so pigmented and gorgeous, which incredible coverage (well all of the DIY colors are very pigmented and have ridiculous coverage). Really loving what I'm seeing here! Love how this took a turn, the second finish is perfect for this!
Using the nails to give the bondo something to grip to is genius!!!! I will definitely be adding that step. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Definitely can’t take credit for that one it was my dad’s suggestion 🥰 glad you found it helpful

The inside was in such good shape. Just needed a little reapplication of cedar oil

Thank you 🥰
Wow girl you did an amazing job! I felt your frustration but look at the result awesome!
How talented you are ! What great things I learned!
I'm so glad!
You're amazing
Ahhh thanks so much
Ahhh Lindz your a fan of Debi’s paint too and your right about Little Black Dress.
Glad your enjoying the makeover
