The foot repair is amazing! The piece is awesome!!!!! The colors and the texture are so interesting! I absolutely love it! It's a bit like rusted without the red tones of rust but still it's very alive... like a metal decomposition ! Your efford and trials were worth it ! This chest was like a blank canvas and you made unique and Sarah style! Thanks so much for sharing. I love that you have the confidence and the boldness to redo a piece ...

You nailed this project!! What a gorgeous transformation for a trunk that was literally treated as "junk". It was amazing to see how light the wood is now and how the painting techniques you applied, changed the trunk's personality making it more versatile as décor. It is so rewarding to watch you save pieces from the landfill, not just for our earth, but for the sheer joy of revaluing something that was thought to be a lost cause. You have the awesome ability to assess the structural bones and massage the design until you bring the essence of the piece to the surface. It's so healing, to watch the repairs. I have a serious appreciation for the way you are willing to go beyond what's comfortable, and tackle processes, like wood bleach. You've made me feel brave to step outside my own comfort zone, because the results are truly worth it. This is one of my favorite pieces of all time! ❤

Sometimes it makes me sad because I remember all my family who were furniture repairers and refinishers and sellers of antiques and the good smells of wood and chemicals and waxes and the sounds of their voices. Other times the memories make me happy. Coming here I get part of my past back and feel the wood in my hands and remember the little tasks they gave me to do.

creating a mould to create a bondo replacement for the missing piece of the foot is one thing learned that I may use in the future. I have a free secretary desk/dresser combo that a dog has chewed a corner and am going to give the hot glue mould making a try. It is a piece that I want to keep for myself, it likely is from the late 40s and have seen one for $700.. Still trying to decide whether to scuff sand and paint, or to strip, stain, and poly. I love natural wood. Thank you for posting the video.

Now, when I get “overloaded” with ideas, I have learned it saves time in the long run to DO NOTHING. Wait. Draw a mock up design. Practice colors on notebook paper, not the final object. Sit down & rest. Go shopping for shoes or a handbag. Take it slow.

Perfect old world patina. Love the process of saving that orphan left by a dumpster.

I love the hot glue trick to replace broken foot. I don't know why she painted it so many times. Not a fan of the finished colt or patina but liked watching her.

Hey Anne glad you liked the hot glue trick. As far as the painting goes, I was trying things out they didn’t work and that last look is definitely not a look for everybody but I’m glad you still enjoyed watching it. Have a good week.

I am happy you were able to give this piece a new life & keep it out of the landfill. Even though it appears that I’m in the minority, I really didn’t care for the finished look. But there are many who would love it in their home. Either way, you’ve made it useable again. Great job!

Such an amazing transformation. I love everything about it. And that foot you repaired,,,,WOWSIE, if we hadn't seen that it was missing a piece, we'd never know. I don't think there is anything you can't do when it comes to furniture. As always, GREAT job Sarah and thanks for another great video. 💜

Love DIY Paint. Just an FYI for anyone not in the US, the Black Velvet is not their true black, it has a blue undertone. Little Black Dress is their TRUE black and its so pigmented and gorgeous, which incredible coverage (well all of the DIY colors are very pigmented and have ridiculous coverage). Really loving what I'm seeing here! Love how this took a turn, the second finish is perfect for this!
