The new pieces turned out phenomenal! Don’t let people’s negative responses get to y’all. You’re right, when you purchase items from the thrift shops they’re definitely not high end, but once you start working on them they change totally. By fixing things needing to be repaired, and painting and/ or staining them to redo them, they BECOME High end! You both have an amazing eye that allows you to see what a piece not only could look like redone, but what it will look like, then you go about creating that high end piece. Keep up what you’re doing because everything turns out wonderful!
Didn't see any of those beautiful mountains but a set of tiny Beatrix Potter books makes up for that 😊 A solid wood cherry chest @ a thrift price is a score -- a little effort & your paint -- saves a lot of $ for the lucky DIY fan & just think of the memories you make for your loved one -- not to mention the bragging rights you get for a quality product you made using JRV sold products !

I am so glad. I have a very large china hutch that I have hauled all over Idaho Washington and Oregon in my motorhome. Right now I am learning different methods for homesteading. Couldn't imagine painting it with a brush so I can hardly wait to get settled on my land.
Jami, I wish I had your insight on making your pieces into high end items. I’ve been watching you for several years now and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything that didn’t look high end when you finished it. The frame you just did that started out red and you used the copper may be one of my most favorite things. The canvas print you used compliments that copper frame so well. Never been a thrift store person but you have given me the bug. I’ve been to a couple stores and walk thru thinking, now what would Jami think about this piece. I can see how you and Zeb get so excited when you thrift. It’s like looking for hidden treasure. My mom and dad were into thrifting back in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Dad made a lot of money just reselling. He didn’t do any restoration projects. But they loved it. Thank you and Zeb for showing us how to make things beautiful. Take care

I really enjoy the makeovers but I will say this I do cry when you paint cherry or mahogany and some of the other nicer woods but that's just because I'm a lover of the wood. And I agree with you I hate that dark cherry wood stain. I love the look of the top that you guys did with the oil

I have cherry tables, and I hate the red stain. I prefer natural wood finishes with danish oil. Sometimes I feel like staining wood is covering up grain-dare I say it? You mine as well paint it 😂 btw, you should display all your cute afghans/quilts in that blanket chest

I recently bought a full size spread and shams for $5. Looked great. They were black. I washed them and when I took them out of the washer, the tags that tell what they are made of had shredded and there was lint all over them. I was upset. Threw the shams away and I'm going to try to delint the spread and wash it again. If I can't get the lint off, it will become a dog blamket.😊
