      It's just a setting, damn I had the comment for this same question pinned the other day and re-pinned it with something else. Look for something like reverse interrupt on/off. It's the interrupt setting that gets defaulted back to off, you want that on.

      You mean on the head unit it’s quitting the download process? Or you mean in your computer?
      If from the head unit it’s failing, I would reformat the drive and redownload the update and if you still have an issue I would try to reset/restore settings in the radio before trying again. I’ve not run into that issue before. Good luck!

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  9 месяцев назад +1

      It won't actually prompt you to reset, it's something Alpine instructs you to do after it reboots. I think it basically helps to clear the cache after you do the update. I once forgot to do this for a client and we had some connectivity issues and once I did the reset it resolved it. But that will delete all your settings so take note of all your audio settings in the EQ, crossover, time alignment, radio preset channels, back up camera settings etc. before you do it.

    ***FYI***
    The “UPDATE” folder that you’re supposed to copy to the thumb drive, is actually inside of the extracted folder that says “UPDATE”.
    A little confusing… As I kept copying the extracted folder, that said update, but my LX 507 wouldn’t recognize it. Once I realize there was another folder inside of that one called update, I copied that one to the thumb drive, and then my stereo found the update.

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  Год назад

      Weird that you had another folder show up in the download process. Just curious, are you using Windows or Mac? The way I show it in the video, once you download and extract all, there should just be a single folder labeled Update and inside that are the actual update files, but that single Update folder should be the only thing in the USB and when I download these updates and extract I only ever see one folder. Using Windows 11 if that matters.

    Just bought the ILX-507. On board firmware says 1.1.280 Current firmware from the Alpine website says its at 5.0
    Do you have a list of all the revisions inbetween. One of them gives ms 360l (Which I'm not sure is needed)
    Also, is the 1.1.280 the original firmware with this device?

    Does the Ilx-407 have an on/off button to turn it off? Bought a used ‘21 Tundra w/ this already installed and can’t find the “circle w/ dot” for power. I’ve seen other Alpines and seems the power button is on the lower bottom of the frame. Using the long hold of the steering wheel volume method to “mute” for now. Tried asking Alpine but they pointed my to “display off” but I’m looking for old fashioned power on and power off like my factory head had in my F-150 on the volume knob, push volume knob for on and off. I know this is an older video just thought I’d ask since you really know the Alpine product line.

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  5 месяцев назад

      That's a great question. I don't think the iLX-407 does have an on/off button. I was aware of the display on/off, but the radio itself doesn't have a standby option in the sources and I just scanned through the manual and could not find any way to manually power the unit on/off. Under the section labeled "Turning Power On or Off" it states to turn the ignition on/off to power it on or off. So I'm going to say no it does not.

    Wait...you totally skipped the part where you need to completely remove the unit from the vehicle dash to do the update! This is a NOT a very easy process as you suggest at the beginning of the video. I really need some help here. My 1 year old ilx f511 will no longer shut off...ever! Is there a factory reset for this? It worked GREAT for over a year and just yesterday it decided to not shut off when I remove the key or when I press the power button. It also stopped playing Bluetooh Audio from my phone or audio from phone calls. Installed and working correctly for over a year in my 2018 Mercedes Benz Sprinter. Ordered from Crutchfield and installed with the correct kit to allow steering wheel controls and back up camera. This is VERY frustrating, please help

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  11 месяцев назад

      Oh, what a bummer! Wait, why didn't the installer mount the USB in a convenient/accessible location? We always flush mount it for optional 2.4 amp charging and for future updates which is sort of standard industry practice. In the Sprinter there is even an adapter to put the USB in factory spot if desired. Definitely need access and remove to see why the radio is staying on to it so I recommend taking it back to the installer and having the USB properly mounted at the same time so it's easily accessible for future updates because there will be more updates for sure.
      Depending on what parts were used for the initial installation, there could be an issue with the adapter that is normally used for things like retained accessory power (RAP), retaining OEM reverse camera, steering wheel controls etc. One possible quick fix is to pull the fuse in the car for the radio to let it reset. Pop it back in and see if that resolves the issue.

    After Update my Ilx 507 lost the subwoofer. Only the 4 speakers are working now. Even I can not find my phone personal hotspot

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  Год назад

      The last step of this update, is that you have to do a reset at the end and restore everything to default settings so all of your audio settings and phone settings are reset. Back up camera is defaulted back to off, subwoofer default is off, etc. Go into the audio settings and under balance/fader you'll see the check box to turn the subwoofer back on. You may also have to go into the camera settings to turn your reverse camera back on (if equipped) and also all of your EQ/crossover settings. On your phone, you'll need to clear memory of the radio and re-pair.
      If you only did the update and did not do the final step of going back into settings, about, reset/restore, you may have issues reconnecting your phone. You may also encounter issues with SiriusXM presets being stored. It drives me nuts that Alpine designed it this way. I have files of pictures for clients of their audio settings so I can re-enter it for them every time there is an update. It's a really, really bad design IMO. I don't get why they designed it that way.

    Does using you iPhones wifi hotspot to run Tidal stop you being able to use wireless Carplay? Or can it do both at the same time?

    • @carstereochick
      @carstereochick  Год назад +1

      Can you elaborate? This model supports wireless CarPlay and Tidal is a supported app. Do you mean can you do that - listen to Tidal on CarPlay wirelessly - and run your phone as a hotspot for another device to connect to at the same time? That I don't think you can. Haven't tried it, but I did have one client with an Android let me know he couldn't run Android Auto wirelessly and run his phone as a hotspot for his kids using tablets in the backseat.
      Just keep in mind that running Tidal or even Apple Music in hi-res lossless is very data hungry. I prefer to download the music to my phone to avoid interruptions due to inconsistencies in cellular coverage in our area. If I rely on data alone, coverage ranging from from 3-5 bars during my 30 minute commute, I'd be lucky if I get to listen to 4 full songs.

    • @Jonathan_Doe_
      @Jonathan_Doe_ Год назад

      @@carstereochick Basically, this update installs a Tidal app on the head unit itself (Alpines video about the update states that audio quality is inherently limited over carplay so the app needs to be in the head itself).
      So, to run the Tidal app on the head unit, it says that you use your phones wifi hotspot ability to give the head unit internet access.. I think that Wireless Carplay also uses your phones WiFi, so I’m not sure whether running both at the same time will be possible?
      I’m receiving a 705d over the weekend (A decision partially based on your feature/test videos! So I guess I’ll find out once I’ve got it installed/updated) 🙂

      Gotcha, okay I follow you. Honestly I haven't used Tidal recently since Apple started offering hi-res lossless. The i509-WRA-JK doesn't have that feature built in unfortunately, just Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. The previous model, the X409-WRA-JK had the built in navigation with off road feature. Alpine does make an optional add on GPS for the i509-WRA-JK, the KTX-NS01, but I have to make a video on how that works. It's a bit of a let down. Just came out a couple weeks ago. Is that the navigation module you're referring to that you're having trouble with?

      There are a lot of audio adjustment settings in the menu, try lowering the mic if you haven't already. Also, where is the mic? You may need to relocate it. We usually mount it centered by the rear view mirror where the headliner/windshield meet. Depending on the vehicle, sometimes we have to get it closer to the driver near the instrument cluster/vehicle gauges. Also if it's an iPhone, try clearing/forgetting the connection from both devices, do a soft reset on the phone and then re-pair.

      I love playing "Where did the installer hide the USB?". When our shop installs an aftermarket stereo, we try to retain the OEM USB port if there are compatible parts available to do this. I'm not sure if you tried that or what kind of car this is installed in. If the OEM USB port isn't compatible, we usually flush mount a new one in a convenient spot like below the radio or inside a center console. If none of that was discussed with your technician or you weren't charged for parts like that, they may have just routed them to the glove box. There should be 2 - a black one (main one) and a gray (secondary).

      Yes, you need an Apple Lightning to Digital A/V adapter. I did a full review on the iLX-507 that shows how to do that. I'm not sure if they routed an HDMI cable from the back of the radio for you? NOTE - when you want to use the HDMI, you have to turn off the wireless CarPlay connection. That is an Apple limitation, you can't stream through HDMI while connected to the radio for Apple CarPlay. See it here - works the same way on the iLX-F509, 511 or i509 series. Also - the parking brake has to be engaged in order for it to work.

      You're welcome and yes, you've got that correct. The USB is for wired CarPlay/optional charging or for music on a USB thumb drive. If you want to stream anything directly from an iPhone or Android you'll have to go through the HDMI input using an adapter to your phone.

      It's in the video description. YT doesn't always allow links to be posted in the comments. I hope that helps!
