I'm in the process of picking out what i want to replace my current head unit. This video ... this channel has made up my mind for me. Going to order the ilx 509 in the next couple of weeks.
So I chose Kenwood components for my recent build. DNR1007XR Headunit w/Garmin, along with their DRV-N520 Dash cam that integrates to my radio. I don't want to call it buyers remorse, but seeing the functionality of the 511 and this dash cam system....you guys have Kenwood beat. My next build will be Alpine.
I am literally at this stage. Was looking In to Kenwood and as about to pull the trigger. Oh boy, good thing I was a research nerd and found this. I’m going Alpine all the way here

I've hard time trying to figure out between those two HU (DNR1007XR and ILX-F511). Your comment intrigued me. Can you elaborate a bit for us please. I'm a bit tempted toward the Kenwood HU and dash cam mostly because of the 4 video inputs, 5v clean all the way, side cameras activated by turn signal, android wireless mirroring. Do you think the ILX-F511 is on top even lacking those features?
I just had this installed and the quality is really bad on the new Halo11 head unit. It’s like NTSC quality. Not sure if it was connected wrong or if the quality is degraded by the head unit. Be sure you check into this before getting this unit.

This looks a lot like the Thinkware F790. I wonder if that Thinkware can talk to the Alpine head unit or if this DVR-C320R is compatible with the Thinkware Multiplexer Box.
I bought that dashcam how to connect to the headunit do you have video how to do ?
Can you pull up the live camera feature while in reverse gear and bring rear facing camera to full screen to use as a back up camera so to speak?
I know this is old, but wondering this as well. Being that live view is disabled when not in park, from my understanding, i imagine you couldn’t have live view; well unless you had a parking brake bypass 🤫
If it’s connected via a always on cigarette lighter (plug-in) will it still detect low battery voltage and shut off?

I just bought the same dashcam with the ilx-f511 halo 11 and when i drive 1 of the 2 devices randomly beep twice. Took a 4hr drive and it wouldnt stop, is there a fix for that?

The dashcam will not connect with the Alpine viewer app when connected to my ilx-f511. The text displayed on the f511 screen is to small to read so I can not see what speed was recorded on each video clip. I pointed the issue out to support and they claim that several employees have the same set up and can see the speed. They ignored my request for screen shots proving that they can read the text. I regret buying the product.
I noticed with the instructions for this dashcam that the video cable can be used with non-Alpine headunits.
Can you elaborate on what the function is for? Would it just pull up the dashcam's video feed on the non-Alpine screen similar to a reverse camera feed?
Are these essentially android radios? Like they have a little operating system built in? Why I’m asking is I’m looking for a way to monitor engine data in my diesel using EFI live or another tuner. Can this plug into my OBD?
Just installed mine and yes it will plug into obd port with additional harness. Got mine from crutchfield
How does the camera look with a tinted back window?
It will darken it a bit depending on your tint but should still be able to see through it no problem.
Is the rear traffic camera SEPARATE from the backup camera?
Its sold as a package so you cannot buy them individually at this time.

It will only directly connect with our newer '5 series' units. 507, 509, 511, etc.

This all sounds awesome but the app gets horrible reviews. That’s a deal breaker for me.
Just put the front and rear cameras in and they do t seem to record in parking mode. I wanted them to record with motion detection if anyone comes near the vehicle. All features are turned on in the app??

1080p ? you cant see anything in 1080p. when will 2k or 4k be available. 1080p is 10 year old tech.....

There’s something wrong here. I just had this installed in my Jeep yesterday with the 511 head unit and the video quality of the dash cam is literally NTSC. It’s really bad. I’m going to see if my installer connected something wrong or if it requires Maestro to get better quality video. But it’s going back if this is what it really is.
