First time watcher. Found this video researching Sony headunits. I had a Sony Xav-5600 in a vehicle I recently sold and was looking for a replacement for a new vehicle. I think the 9000Es is the one I will try thanks to you. This might be one of the single best, realist, heartfelt pieces of RUclips content I have seen. From one Gen x'er to another, I agree the music and life experiences of the late 90's was the best. Every album I relisten to brings back so many memories. Thank you!

At what volume would you set the gains??? It seems like it doesnt go near 5 volts till you're close to max volume

Kenwood needs to get rid of that tired old ui they have had for a Milena also the whole ldac thing voice carplay and Android auto are lossless audio right up into high res files so ldac while awesome made no difference here, And I ain't buying what they're selling about their extra components they may use different capacitors and stuff in there or something, but nothing noteworthy the operating I want to know when they're going to update their user interface get on the digital output train even not all the audio for people are starting to go the way of digital signal processes because anything less is taking a step back when they switch out car components these days if I do there isn't the whole he was sensing doing it, unless you've got a pretty old car otherwise bought Kenwood but this is actually like pretty lame that I've had these same user interface for like eight years and almost nothing has changed even within the head unit since my flagship modeling that was 2020 that's four years ago for technology that's like woeful. Sorry to be so negative. It's just second video I've seen of Kenwood, not upgrading anything. Although I see they finally got a USBC only four years after pioneer 😂

Thanks for the video, I just got my 2024 Wrangler with MT and want to install a remote starter, because here in Canada is pretty much mandatory 😅 Dealer didn't want to do it so I'll have to find someone that wants to install it. I'll look for this product and I'll let you know how it went.

6000 has a TN display that looks much worser and washed out than TFT in 4000

Were you able to achieve a higher max volume (40 was referenced) with your subwoofer output maxed out yet..

When you mentioned the head unit issues my brain immediately went to load resistors but then i remembered Helix is one of the few companies who has built in load resistors, although we had one last week that it wasnt enough for but thankfully we stock the new Metra purple 10 ohm ones. Glad you got it figured out!!!!

Very helpful video... I did have a few questions about the install.. do you have to run a new Mic or can you retain factory? It's there an adapter to use the existing USB pod, or do you have to install a new one? Do you retain the vehicles Maintainance menu to keep track of tire rotation / oil change? And lastly, do you have to plug anything into the odb2 port?

Does this unit show album or station art in HD radio?

Did you try turning up the usb audio gain? Are you using apple car play through USB.

Sure wish the Sony had HD radio. Side question, if one uses an external DSP, is there still a benefit to the Sony's internal DSP ?

I agree with you so much. couple of days ago, I bricked my Kenwood excelon DMX906s while trying to update the firmware (Been able to update it once over the past 4 years without issue). Was so heartbroken. Took my car back to the audio shop that installed it. My guy over there convinced me to spend $950 (Installation and everything) on this Sony XAV-9000ES. Let me tell you, I haven't slept for the past 2 days. I've been so happy with what this head unit did for my overall sound, that I've been chilling in my car for the past 48 hours just listening to all my favorites. I'm literally feeling what it felt like falling in love with those tracks all over again. Being able to play my Hi-res lossless tracks directly from my 1 TB Samsung SSD (T9 pro) has been a game changer. I could only play true lossless from a flash thumb drive with my DMX 906s. It's truly night and day what this unit has done for me so far! Great video by the way :) [The rest of my system is a JL audio build through-and-through]. So sorry for your loss. My condolences. May your brother rest in peace.

Hi, I have been following your Car Stereo/Speakers review and nice to see you are doing an in depth review of them thru which we are able to learn and infer. In line with that would you be able to compare these two units. 1. Kenwood KMM X 705 vs Pioneer MVH - S720BHS (Both top of the line Non-touch Single Din Digital media receivers with 3 RCA, high volts, HD Radio, plays Hi-Res Flac etc..) I would be more interested in FLAC file Sound quality and long term durability. Thanks.

Sorry for going back to such an old video, but you touch on an idea I'm contemplating, while the Metra 6.5'' pod is fine, I am wondering if a better quality 4" in the factory ported pod would actually produce better mid bass. Since you did it, can you please offer a comparison, as I'm sure you've installed plenty of 6.5's up there too. Thank you!

I have a kenwood dmx and can't get any album cover art when using jump drives. Is there any way to get it to work? I use windows media player on my pc to organize and transfer files to my drives. Thanks for any help.

So I have a dash location in my 11 Highlander that was made for some sort of 2 and 1/2 in or something crappy paper tweeter thing. It has like a thick layer of felt over it. It's almost with the distance from my ear and the 6x9 in the door playing full range. I was planning on putting a 3 or 4-in mid-range modified in the dash under the grill and a tweeter on top of the grill facing me. What is your opinion of the mid-range off axis reflecting from the windshield with the Tweeter on access right next to it?

Anyone else has audio delay from IPhone when playing music or YT content? I have an 1-2 second delay have no clue how fix this issue.

Great, Definite and large Sound Quality improvement should be there considering recent HU vs more than 7 year old HU. But Kenwood Radio was 7 years old (an (Archived HU) and like others, they have also updated their Stereos as per advancement in tech. Hence if you have this comparison would be ( considering similar price points ) - it would give a better perspective to current buyers of the Unit. 1. Sony XAV - 9000 ES vs Kenwood DMX958XR 2. Sony XAV - 9500 ES vs Kenwood DMX1057XR or similar ones across SONY/Kenwood/Alpine/Pioneer

Thank you for the video and explanation. I bought a 2024 Preferred and I really regret it. I’ve never owned a car with such terrible audio. It really does sound like an AM transistor radio. I had a 2005 and 2014 Mazda3 and the stock audio was fine.
