I like my artillery in this game and tend to equip 3-4 batteries per full stack army. Against a primarily force of line infantry I use my two cavalry companies to faint an attack to make the enemy form squares immediately targeting them with cannon fire which decimates their numbers leaving them low in moral and manpower for my infantry counter attack under continuous cannon fire if the terrain allows it. Cavalry then engage once melee or routing commences

fun fact, yes you have wider range in quare and can get some prior shots in by it, but your rank will only fire if all have reloaded, so its not efficent to use n 90% of scenarios

And that, guys, is why you shouldn’t go to the battlefield drunk and high as bollocks.

I've never see them do actual drill before. Is this a mod or have I just been that oblivious

You mean units? They are from this mod www.moddb.com/mods/imperial-splendour Animations are from my small mod which adds couple of units to the custom battles, it is not really playable as i use it for testing and videos.

The Russian uniforms you see are also included in Darthmod. I would also recommend the Causas Belli mod add on, and the Additional Units Mod (Darthmod Edition) for Empire.

It took them 35 seconds to reload. Wow... Experienced solider back then would be able to shoot 3 times in such space of time. Realism at its finest.

I think 3 times a minute is generally considered good for this time .

@@michaelprobert4014 This is why he said 'experienced' soldiers... from the sources I read, the British could manage between 3-4 shots per minute (if the weather was right)...

@@sksaddrakk5183 Three times in 35 seconds is pushing it I think ..but we are agreed once every 20 seconds rather than once every 12 ish seconds .

@@michaelprobert4014 Well I counted the first 'free' shot as well... so assuming you enter battle with a loaded gun (which in my opinion would be reasonable) you fire (1 shot), 20 second reload (2nd shot) 20 second reload (3rd shot) 20 second reload (4th shot)... so within the first minute 4 volleys were fired... of course such rate of fire is not sustainable, as the soldier get tired and the barrels fouled by the black powder residues and so on... and of course with time soldiers will have to stop loading to replace a chipped flint or fix other malfunctions (or alternatively pick up the musket of a fallen comrade)... so yes the 4 shots a minute are based on elite regiments on a dry day when they are fresh into the battle (and bayonets were not fixed)...

I know, but it's all for gameplay. If it took them an average of like 20 secs to reload, the battles would be way quicker because men would die faster, unless the unit sizes were massive which would take a massive toll on your cpu and lower-end devices.
