So join me, Koifish, as I take on the legendary ISP Artillery Only Challenge!
JUST Artillery! That means NO infantry, NO cavalry, JUST the strong power of mortars, Cannons and ARTILLERY!
I'm doing a long campaign, spanning from the Ottoman Empire, Italy and all the way to Arabia In Total War: Empire! Long live the ARTILLERY! So join my adventure all over the world in search for glory, It's nothing but the finest of line Artillery, Artillery and the power of ARTILLERY!

Total War: Empire is one of my all time favorite games! The 1700's setting, the grand scale of the battles, the line battles, the historical accuracy, and yes, even the broken naval warfare!

To be fair, massed mobile artillery was a thing since Gustavus Adolphus, way before Napoleon.

The Ottomans have three moons on their flag. Artillery makes the battlefield look like the moon with all the shell craters. Coincidence?

Always thought it was weird how the most advanced cannon nation in Europe was also the nation that stuck to melee infantry and even sometimes bows. The ottomans have such a seriously interesting history.
Try to see it in the Padishah's perspective. Guns are cool and all, but swords and big fucking cannons are metal as fuck, and the gory carnage they unleash gives any man worthy of his salt a raging murder boner. So yeah, the ottomans are pretty relatable.
Yeah there's a bunch of reasons why that was the case. The ottoman army much like most armies was fairly dependent on irregular troops (peasants) from all over joining for the chance to gain loot and a few coins after campaigning most of them only had their swords and a some personal muskets that belonged in museums rather than on a battlefield. The ruling classes didn't feel the need to have an extensive professional army most of the time. And most of the legitimate military bureaucracy was corrupt. They were content just lording over the land and paying lip service to the sublime porte, thinking for whatever reason they were safe from foreign powers or internal rebellion or maybe they knew but didn't care because they could always move to safer lands when danger came. And the central government was either too corrupt or too weak to bother forcing the other nobility around the empire to invest in well trained and equipped troops. By the time anyone tried to do something the country fell behind everyone else. The European nations on the other hand tended to have more national cohesion considering most of them had strong central regions of power to draw from so they could afford to put in the training and provisions. kind of hard for an overextended multiethnic and multireligous country to anything
Anatolia the main source of recruitment for the army was barely more turkish than bulgaria or greece; as in not a lot. And the economy there was mostly ignored by the government. It's surprising the ottomans did as well as they did all things considered.
During the 18th century government tried to reform the janissaries according to up-to-date european practices by employing european advisers but they resisted the change. Seeing it was hard to refrom the current army the Sultan raised another, a new model army but he paid the price of reform with his life (III. Selim). His son, II. Mahmud had to wait patiently for 18 years to abolish janissaries to build a new and modern army.

As someone who pre-ordered the special edition of this game way back in the day, and played Turkey straight out of the box, I can confirm that the Organ Gun is OP AF.
I absolutely love cannons! Every time I hear a cannon fire I star grinning from ear to ear! If I was any good at these strategy games I would probably try this challenge myself.

I wish you'd do an entire campaign like that xD It's one thing to dominate the early game but with the major faction coming at you, the challenge would be much more difficult lmfao
Units changing on their own is specific to Minor Factions Revenge for some reason. Never had it happen in the base game but no army could escape it with the mod enabled.

I recreated those castle siege attacks with japan and Vampire Coast pirates. Works perfectly until you run out of ammo.
