Crafters don’t have a ton of money to spend on tools. It can be disheartening to watch some of the most popular design team members blow me away with some of their projects, only to find that the supply list is long and expensive. Some go out of their way to suggest alternative products that we may already own ... but many do not. I understand that this is their job, and I really do enjoy the videos. Thank you again for your tips - this video is SAVED !

Maybe it cost more to make the Siser products? or the craft industry has a very high markup?

Buy yourself a weeder with hook and you will facepalm for what you have been missing. It turned out to be an all purpose tool, always in my hand, not just for weeding but also to pick up small items from the working table, lift up the corner of paper or cardstock when they are hard to pick up etc. I never since use exacto for such things. I even use it to remove scraps from the mat unless the pieces are really small, thus preserving the stickiness.

I have been so stinking happy with my Dododum! Every project has come out perfect! In fact my very first project I did with my cricut was personalize my Dododum bag. It comes with a drawstring storage bag so on the front I put "Stacey's Dododum" and an iron icon I got from design space. On the back I made the temperature guide since it has 3 temp options I made a chart and put the temp of each option to help me knowwhat settings to use with the various vinyls (seems like every brand uses different temp settings) anyway I love mine! I can honestly recommend it! If you watch it goes on sale too. It's often listed as a hot buy! Amazon will chose a color (mine was green) and slash the price 30% off! I wanted pink because that's my aesthetic but the grass green shade is super pretty and was $20 cheaper thank the pink! Highly recommend!

I know the Cricut mats are expensive if buying on Amazon, Joanns, etc. But if you have a premium access membership and hit the big sales and use promo codes on their site you can get them so much cheaper than any other off brand. I just purchased 16 mats at $2.58 each. I haven’t seen an off brand that cheap anywhere.

I have the Cricut Maker and I’m not really liking it, or Design Space. I’ve heard such good things about the Brother. And I love the idea of just being able to scan stuff and cut it out….like scanning a stamp and not needing the $$ matching dies to cut it out, just use the Brother machine.

Watch out for the nicapa mats. If you look at the 1 star reviews it says that the adhesive comes off on to your items. This is true, I have only had it 3 weeks. I have used it with htv, and when I peeled the mat up the adhesive was all over the carrier sheets. And forget about using baby wipes on them because the with very little touch the adhesive was coming off.

Cricut has gone away from supporting their “fan base” to trying to cut their throats by the way of issuing statement that they will require subscription fees for this and that (its a whole thing) and the crafting community (which banded together holds ALL the power) has decided to STAND UP not only for themselves but for US! The sad thing is, I am watching this from the UK and a lot of the recommended alternatives in this video seem to be US companies that cost an arm and leg to ship across to the UK! Anyone out there know where us UK crafters can buy the non-cricut alternatives (as they are even hard to find on UK version of Amazon).
