We wish it were real but I'm afraid it's not. I wanted to be an apologist evangelist in defending the faith. I wrote, meditated,prayed, worshiped ,made arguments and read and studied the bible more to learn, and then one day, I realized and asked myself, why am I having to defend something that is supposedly real? From that point on going forth, I started my personal evolution in 2014 to 2019 until I became agnostic and a humanist.Now, i don't have to hate anymore , live in shame or be in bondage to faith and belief. I feel a huge weight lifted. Now, I am more principled, and love genuinely without being directed to, or making excuses of being a "work" through the process of sanctification. It's all a contrivance of man from millenniums on end in a pursuit to understanding the cosmos, reality, the issues of life, nature and purpose. I have a peace with myself, everyone and everything. It's inexpressible.

That doubt was just an open door for the enemy to work in you. But God is calling and wants you back! There is so much things God has done for me that Don’t sight to believe. Anybody can use the scapegoat of faith and a higher intellectual personage externally beyond human understanding. Others claim supernatural and preternatural miracles and resurrections too, even a singular resurrection in initiation to eternal life as well. You have it all figured out huh? Tell me. Give me proof. Everybody has a transformation to a "newness" of life as well. Prove it. I already know what you are going to say. Been there done that. Predictable.

My testimony about this song (Iceland version) - Part 1:
I’m still in love this band no matter what has happened. I was lost for 10 years. During this season, I didn’t want to hear anything about God, nor spirituality, or whatsoever. I just wanted to live my life. I avoided all type of spiritual people and spiritual talk. Well, who needs God? My life was great. Career, family - all was in order.
Until one day, I got sick - for one whole year (if not more). Then my life turned upside down. I felt so bad, life was not anymore on my side, I hit the rock bottom, almost had no more passion about life. Going to hospital, seeing the doctor, and taking medicine were part of my daily life. I was scared and so tired about it.
But God is so merciful. He was so patient to wait for me to come back to Him. During that one year being sick, I was then introduced to their music.
Hawk Nelson has played such a huge role during that season when I came back to Him. I can still remember those days on my sick bed in hospital - when I listened to their music (many times with tears). It is so amazing how God can use music to soften and turn someone’s heart back to Him.

When I had no more strengths, almost lost hope, then this song appeared and reminded me to surrender and ask Him for help. This song had become my prayer too. I needed to humble myself before God, ask Him for forgiveness and come back to Him.
Now I can understand the story of the prodigal son myself.
The news brought me here. This is my first time to hear about the band. It's a beautiful song tbh.
Jon has his life journey to take on, and so much respect for him. God gives us free-will, but He doesn't stop pursuing those whom He called and it doesn't change the fact that He is still God. God bless the band :)

Part 2:
As time went by, finally I got healed from my illness. Thanks be to God, to the doctors and also to my family that had taken care of me.
Every time I see this video now, it reminds me - how life is so fragile, and how glad I am and thankful to have that ‘rough season’ in my life. It turned out, the worst season in my life - could actually be the best season! In fact, I learned the most the concept about life, death, value, friendship, and what important in life during that ‘rough season’! Foremost, I have the experience to know and feel Him more. Those ‘hidden hands’ that created heaven and earth, those ‘hidden hands’ that created me, touched my heart and gave me life once again.
For those who are in the desert of life and feel tired, know that you are not alone. He is there even if maybe you don’t see Him. Rest your worry in Him. If you’ve been away from Him - maybe it’s time to come back now? How long have you been away for, 3 years, 5 years, 20 years? In my case, Father had been patiently waiting for me even after 10 years of being away from Him and I had even never imagined to come back to Him! I have a client of mine who left God for 40 years and then he came back to Him, yes - after 40 years!
Yes, there is nothing impossible for God. What is too difficult for Him? I believe human’s heart is the hardest material on earth instead of diamond. But He is God of heaven and earth. Allow Him to touch your heart. Give your both ears to listen. This is (very) important. Don’t be too busy running around to look for solution. Sometimes all you have to do is just sitting, give your ears and heart to listen, and know that He is God. He is in control. I believe God won’t hide His face for those who humble enough whole heartedly seeking for Him.
Never lose hope.

Props to Jonathan Steingard for coming out and being honest. It takes courage to do what he just did. He's a good man and an honest man. I hope those who believe in God don't criticize or spew hatred towards him. There's nothing more sick and wrong than bullying someone into believing. I'll still listen to their music still and yeah much success and happiness to him!
I totally agree with you on that because any judgement would be the most unchristian thing so eone could do so you know it will happen because let's face it over 50% of so called believers are only there for show or to make them feel like there doing something right!!!! It's totally normal to doubt your faith in God not saying everyone has these doubts but it's ok normal and hopefully he will come out a strong man of God in the end! Lord knows I have had my issues with religion and the church I have forgiven the church and those wrapped up in man made belief system/ however sometimes a good church is just what it takes to bring those that have no knowledge of God the Bible etc cam be there first and only introduction to him!! Today I do not judge but I do believe what is right for one may not be for another!!

This is the epitome of where most Christians are at now adays because of the mix and mash of culture and ideologies and the religious system of the church instead of it being what it use to be and is supposed to be in the end this song is very beautiful because it shows he had a relationship with Jesus but also sad it's like a break up song with God but a plead for help for a work of salvation in the end God's will ... will be done and I've been here numerous times in the end God truly had shown through for me through to many signs that are COINCIDENCES that are unexplainable and also demons that were manifested that came out of me and just experiencing the supernatural in the end I get why people become atheist or agnostic and why Christians are bold and say what they say in the end there truly is a cosmic battle of ones soul and there's no doubt in that because everyone feels it and has felt it from the beginning of time we all are searching for purpose and reason of life and in the end we are searching for the creator and the father and the question... why are we here. It's not that he wants to not and is happy about not believing. He just is struggling as all Christian's do. We in the Christian community need to somehow reach out and let him know he's still accepted and loved, and even if he doesn't believe in God, God still believes in him. We're here for you man. I am.

Until he says that he truly doesn't want to believe in God and chooses that life style, then I will keep on hoping for his return to the belief in God.

Dang this is crazy! I’ve been away from God for soo long. I heard of this band and even tho I was never a fan, it breaks my heart and realize that I have been a lost sheep as well. I just found out about it, and I came here, I feel like the words of this song are so fit for Jon in these moments.. Pray for him, I know how difficult it is to struggle with these feelings, I had been trough this last year and I asked God for miraculous sign to boost my faith and He answered after He allowed some harsh situation in my life, God is so Great.All praise to our Lord Jesus Christ.

But, trust that he knows what is best for him. Believing for the supernatural is exactly what some people need to cope with life. For others it is accepting that the supernatural is not there. How would it feel if I said, "You were mean to be a rational minded person who doesn't believe in myths. There is still hope for you to see the truth...." It would be rude. I didn't know this band existed until the news popped up in my feed that another CCM musician came out as an unbeliever. After clicking on a video talking about what happened, this video appeared in my recommendations. So, I thought I'd drop by to say that this situation will hopefully remind everyone of how one's faith in God should rest only in God, and not in how much faith other people have (or don't have). It doesn't matter how famous, popular, or influential these other people are. As Acts 10:34 (KJV) puts it, "...God is no respecter of persons" meaning that God does not show favoritism to anyone based on their social status.

Back to this song Parachute.
Now you know why this song is very special to me. When I saw the video for the first time, I was so curious where it was made. After doing some research, I found out that it was made in Reynisfjara Beach in Iceland. It looks a pretty cool place to visit.
I asked God to give me chance to visit this place someday when I got healed. You know what? After I got healed, God really fulfilled that wish. I went to the exact same place where this video was made! I travelled thousands of miles just to be there! Of course this happened before Corona. 😀 When I was there, I felt like being in Jerusalem. For me, that place is place of hope. A place that reminds me that God is faithful. A place that reminds me to never lose hope even when life gets rough.
I can still remember the view of that black sand beach, the strong wind, the fresh sea air, the rough wave, everything ... I even sat on the same basalt columns where the members of the band sat (look at the final part of the video).
Now that I found back my faith, I think this is the best thing that happened to me these last years. I won’t trade it back. Sure I’m still on my journey. That’s why I need Him every time in my life. But yeah, Jesus gives me joy and peace that I had been asking for - He is the one true love that I was looking for.

Of course there are prodicals, but to deny him means you never had a personal relationship with the living christ , read the parable in Matthew about this very thing. If you born again and have a personal relationship with jesus. You dont just walk away and deny him .
@Mavors in that case then he should be back one day and will be stronger then before, it might be God's divine purpose for John to grow through that so he knows how it feels and later he will help those who struggle with faith same like he did...

@@GTR-gg9kp didn't used to be, I was a Catholic. I went to Catholic school, church, did all the sacraments like first communion, first confession. I just don't believe in him anymore, he is a God of the gaps and I know the things he's used to explain will eventually be explained logically with science. And it's not like he is as good moraly as you say he is either, for starters no "loving God" creates hell (a place where non believers are torchered with no end for all eternity). Second: torcher and rape aren't listed in the ten commandments but murder is. The explanation on numbers 31 is deep it requires a thorough understanding of God's justice and nature although we cannot comprehend it completely we need to understand the foundation of it given in the bible .
