    Hey 👋 there Mr. B.
    It’s great how you support Clare, filming-and coaching at the same time, keeping spirits up! I know when plein air painting, there is an ebb and flow in emotions, analogous with the tide.

    I like the energy in your clouds. It was wonderful how you scrubbed in the fluffy cloud shapes and instantly had that feeling of light. I’m quite envious of the variety of landforms in Cornwall. Here in Lewes, Delaware everything is flat. Very beachy and prone to flooding.

    • @ClareBowenArtist
      @ClareBowenArtist  3 месяца назад +1

      You’re right Eric it is a scrubby sort of mark - trying to mimic and reflect the shape and feel of a cloud. Using the brush with a really light touch. You’ll have to visit Cornwall one day to get to paint these skies too!! 🎨😁

    Hello Clare, happy to see you again this Sunday! This island reminds me of Mont Saint Michel in Normandy, maybe a bit smaller. In any case your painting is very beautiful with these fleeting clouds that you managed to capture from the start. Thank you for sharing and for Mr B's video. Have a great week.

      Greetings Marcelo and Buenos Aires! The container is called a Palette Garage purchased from Great Art Tools in America. It helps keep the paints fresh as long as needed and sealed for transportation. 😊

    Hi Clare, nice to see you working at early hour of the morning, and capturing in a sketchy manner the atmosphere and the landscape. I do have couple of questions : 1. would you refine this at home, soften edges, correct colors ( as you took a reference photo at beginning :) )? 2. Would you copy it to larger scale ? 3. and if you do, would you try to keep the sight size but add more details from your head, or you would just blow up the whole thing. Recently I started not to fiddle with initial sketch anymore, but to blow it up on a larger size fresh canvas, but had to resize the whole thing and not sure this is the idea of painting landscape on big scale). One drawback with painting from scratch is that I start more to look at the initial photo rather than to my initial sketch, and the final picture does not look fresh anymore, but overworked.
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts

      Hello Dorin, thank you for your comment. Here's my reply :-) 1. Sometimes I do refine at home it depends on the subject and painting. I probably wont touch this one as it's a fleeting impression. 2. I do scale up some paintings usually the ones that I'm really happy with / want to explore it more / or the board was too small to do it justice. I choose the ones to blow up. It is a good exercise and the painting can be a lot more impactful bigger! 3.I dont try and keep sight size just scale up to fit the canvas - usually the same format just bigger. It is easy to become a slave to your photo. I try and limit my time and paint it as though it was a plein air - with time limit and no procrastination! I hope this all helps, good luck with your painting, Clare

      @@ClareBowenArtist yes, thanks for your comments it does help to understand how others are approaching the landscape out of the infinite way of doing it. Also I see you very keen of doing sun rises (which most of times I also do). Do you focus to paint some other moment of the day ? where probably less color is there, and more cool and strong light ,etc

    This is a very strange question, but where on your body does the palette level come up to? Also just checking the tripod doesn't have the centre column extended? I'm 5ft 9in and I just ordered U Go's compact tripod and it packs up well nice and compact, but I think it's too low and not keen on really extending the centre column as it affects stability.
