Great painting tutorial. The kind that gives you an insight into an artists process and thinking but also helps the observer when they are painting. Much more informative than speeded up tutorials with music!
So glad it was helpful! Thank you Pamela :-)
So good to observe the whole process, thank you for sharing.😊👏👏
My pleasure 😊
Excellent painting tutorial. Always love to hear what you're thinking when you are creating! ❤️💫👏
Thank you very much Sam! x
I like this video because it reassured me that even great painters like you fuss when they do plein air. I thought it was just me because I wasn’t good at Plein air but your paintings are beautiful. I’ll keep trying. Thank you.
Hi Eugenia, you right plein air is not easy and some paints are a battle!! This one shows that battle. I'm glad it reassures you, good luck with your painting, Clare
Great video! Love seeing the process and hearing your thought process 👍
Thank you Priyanthan, I'm so glad you liked my thought process in this one!
Fabulous! Ms. Bowen is the best I've seen at communicating what she is thinking as she surveys the scene before her and explicates in real time the technical aspects of composing the scene on the canvas and mixing the colors - all essential tools the painter deploys in making a work. And Mr. B's camera work complements her perfectly.
Wow, thank you! Such nice comments Gary! 💕📽🎨😊
Thank you ❤
You're welcome Diane! ❤️
Love watching you paint, so relaxing. Beautiful accent and commentary.
Thank you for your kind words! 🎨👩🏻🎨❤️
You are so good. This video shows you trouble shooting and once in a while your confidence flagged. I want you to know how that gives me hope as you are so good and your work is so fine. Such a great day. I am so grateful to you sharing your process!
Thank you Marti for your kind words, so pleased it is helpful!🙏😍
Very nice painting 🎉
Thank you Saleem! 🙏😊
Really enjoyed this tutorial. I started to watch it as my son proposed to his girlfriend there yesterday. The painting has inspired me to pick up my oil paints :)
Wow that’s lovely, very romantic 💙💕glad it’s inspired you to have a go at painting again 🎨
'Using all the primaries in different amounts when mixing colours helps them to be less bright/strong' - the best piece of advice among many that I will take away from this video. Thank you.
I’m glad you picked up this, as it’s one of the main mixing tools I use. I hope it helps you!!
@@ClareBowenArtist I have previously been using a complementary colour to dull down colours, even a bit of white but you lose chroma when you do that (greens being an example). Looking forward to experimenting with primaries.
@@bradad2026 Sounds like your'e on the right track. Enjoy the primaries experimenting, I'm sure it will help your panting!
Excellent tutorial. Thanks for giving us a peak inside your thinking. Beautiful place, Bessy Cove.
My pleasure 😊
Lovely painting. Beautiful colors. You captured the light perfectly.
Thank you so much Christian! 😀
Absolutely superb video, great content, camera work, explanation and tutorial.
Hi Nick, very much appreciated, thank you :-)
Another great painting. I just wanted you to know how much your commentaries help when you explain your thoughts and certainly your colour mixing variations. I’m learning so much from you. Thank you for taking the time….
Thank you so much for saying Skass, it really helps to hear that with the video making! Happy painting.... best, Clare
Love your work and courage!
Thank you Jennifer!😍
Very nice and lovely peacefull place. Here in Ireland, you find a seemingly quiet remote place to paint...delighted, you open your bag to set up and......some fool standing there motionless, mouth open, staring at you...
Thanks Paul! Ireland does sound beautiful hope to paint there one day…
Enjoyed it!been carving at the same time ,thanks!Erhard Lux
Thank you Erhard, sounds great that you were doing something creative at the same time! 👨🎨
I’ve got Michael Harding Yellow Lake phobia .. whenever I have it on my palette I panic, destroyed whole puddles before with that beast … also the scarlet lake.
Sorry to hear your puddle troubles Stu!💛❤️💛❤️
@@ClareBowenArtist BTW: where on earth do you get your palette garage?? I MUST get one
Awesome
Thank you so much Nicky!
Love your watching and listening to you while you’re doing your beautiful paintings. Is your plein air set up the Open M Box? I wish it was available
Hi Dawn thank you! It is an open box m. I now use a Daytripper or daybreak easel. I like them just as much! 🎨😊
Hi Clare. Just come across your lovely tutorials ❤ love your beautiful harbours..very inspirational...Could I ask where you got your your plein air easel from? Thank you love debs in Spain
Thank you Debbie, pleased you enjoy the videos! The easel is an Open Box M which I am sad to say is no longer available. I use a new company, Prolific Painter and their Day Tripper easel which is a bit heavier but excellent in all other respects!👩🏻🎨❤️
Just found your channel. It's nice to see your process and I love the painting. Also thanks to your husband for a great camera work. I liked the zooming in to see the details. Was that a woman swimming in what must be freezing water? Burrr
Hi Charm, so pleased you found us & thanks for subscribing! I am blessed to have a husband who is a photographer! I'll pass on your compliment. There were swimmers, the water was so clear it did look inviting but as you say pretty chilly in January!
Hola, gracias por tus videos . Se podrá agregar a este video subtítulos en Español ? Muchas gracias
Hello Mirta! I am sorry it not possible for Spanish subtitles. The filming is not by a professional company but my husband or by me! 📽😊♥️
Please tell me about your paint holder . Thank you ! Enjoy your videos.
Hi Louise, it is called a Palette Garage from Great Art Tools in America. Unfortunately, they won’t ship to the UK and shipping costs to Europe are prohibitive.
Hi Clare, love your radiant paintings. New to oil paint I am wondering what is it your dipping your brush into? Thanks.
Thank you Sabine! Turpentine 😊🎨
Hi Clare thanks. I will give plein air a go this Summer. More used to pastel, but need to learn colourmixing. Thanks for your cheerful Videos. You seem to always get going and smiling. No complaints😊You are a great role model as personality and painter. Sunny mood very catchy😁but it must be hard work living from art. And you make it seem so easy. Thanks for that. Rare these days👍🏻
Thanks so much Sabine, it is challenging sometimes but I do love it. Best wishes and happy painting!
Clare, When you get a chance, would you explain the wedge thing that your oil paints are in? I know you have told us about that before, but I can’t remember. Is it something you or hubby made? It looks like a 45 or 90 degree piece of metal ? Just trying to figure it out.
I adore watching you paint. It is most helpful the way you explain your steps and thoughts. Thank you so much for your videos.
Your paintings are beautiful.
When you were plein aire painting at Lake Lucerne Switzerland, it was most fascinating. I actually went there a few years ago. Absolutely gorgeous place. Paint on 😍😍😍
Hi Sandra it’s called a Palette Garage from the USA. Sadly don’t ship to the UK anymore. Hope that helps! 😊🎨
@@ClareBowenArtist thank you. I live in the USA. I have never seen that before but I will try to locate one. Thank you.
What about without that house?
Yes a possibility, will try that subject again one day! 👍🎨
Many thanks for your demons . I just have found your demo recently in you tube and like 👍 them so much . I will take time to watch over your all videos . This painting you did in this video makes me remembering Monet’s paintings I also like your still life demon in Eric Rhoads middle day art school video . . Love your paintings and especially your demos with such detail processes. Thank you.
Try bigger brushes
Thank you a great suggestion 🎨
