So the ramp fee story...goes like this. I have been into Atlantic Midway several times in the past. I have always done so to pick up or drop-off a family member. In doing so, they charge me a "Drop off" fee which is less than the normal "Ramp Fee". On this day, I was picking up my son who was waiting for me in the FBO. I went to the counter to pay my fee. She handed me the $345 fee. I said, no you need to charge me the drop off fee. To which she responded that I wasn't dropping somebody off, I was picking somebody up. I asked her to tell me the difference...either way, I taxi in, I park, I get out of the plane, I go to the counter and pay the bill and then I leave. She acknowledged that there was no difference but that it was again a drop-off fee not a pick up fee. I asked her to call her manager. She picked up the phone and talked to somebody-or acted like she was. She hung it up and said she couldn't do anything about it. I argued my point some more and finally surrendered and left. Two days later, the manager Mike called me. We went through the whole scenario again and he regurgitated what the lady behind the counter told me. I asked him to explain to me the difference between a drop off and a pick up that neccesitated the higher charge. Not surprisingly, he couldn't explain the difference but assured me that he looked into it and I was charged the correct price.

With a drop off your passenger gets out of the airplane, walks thru the FBO, gets into his ride, and is wheels up in a matter of seconds. With the pick up while your passenger is waiting there is time to use the facilities, drink some of that free stale, burned coffee, eat some of those yummie stale free cookies, maybe grab a bag of that special soggy FBO popcorn, and then set a spell on those very special FBO couches. You don't expect Atlantic to be giving that stuff away now do you?
Oh....wait a minute...I suppose a drop off passenger could use the facilities and eat the food while waiting for his ride to show up. Never mind.
Anyway nice grease job and thanks for the ride. Check six.

It's not a "greaser" until you have to call tower/ground to confirm you are on the ground! Auto spoilers is the way I usually knew there is weight on the wheels. Of course, that assumes I remembered to lower the gear... You will know that you forgot the gear because it will take MAX power to taxi clear of the runway.

I was really worried for you even though I don't know you but I have such a good relaxing time with you in the right seat on your flights, I have seen the others pilot videos but yours is the only one I watch now exclusively due to the way you make us feel like we're there with you and teach us, none pilots, what you do while flying alone. it is very interesting and your music selections, when you play them, are great too, they really add to the flight. So happy for you and here's wishing you and yours the best of festive seasons now and on through to the New Year.

@Premier 1 Driver Greg, my reasoning for wanting to meet you revolves around my writings. I am a private pilot but never got beyond for several reasons, although I've flown 15 different aircraft to include the Grob 109 Sailplane in Ft. Wayne and T-28 Trojan in Texas. I moved around a lot to include living 20-years in Canada where I was given a modified C152 to fly at will. All I had to do was put gas in it for eight-years. I developed a back injury in 2010 and went through many procedures and medications, one of them being Oxycodone. I was and have never been addicted to it, but because of the bad rap it has received, I stopped flying for fear of losing my medical. I returned to the US in 2014 and continued my writing. You can see my six-books on Amazon. I'm writing a 7th. I have been featured in a magazine called The Universal Pages. Each of my main characters flies a personal jet of some type. The primary character flies a rebuilt Polish TS-11 Iskra. So the reason for meeting you is to get a better understanding of what it's like to sit in one's own jet, preparation, phraseology, etc. BTW, while in Canada, I was on the airport escort security detail at Calgary International. I got to meet and sit in the seat of the former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Not many Americans can make that statement. Also I got to meet two F-16 pilots on their visit and the picture taken of me with them is used in two of my books. As you look at my profile picture, that's the same picture with the pilot's edited out. So again these are my reasons for wanting to meet you.

One of the best instructional videos for IFR procedures and weather avoidance. It is great practice to follow along by inserting the route into Foreflight. Well done!
