Love it. On a newly minted pilots license I was once flying my Dads 172 near Stockton CA. I was on Oakland center. The controller calls my N number and tells me to divert to Stockton because my Dad thinks the weather is to low for me to be flying. I get to Stockton and he jumps in and we fly to the destination (He was a career Air Force pilot with thousands of hours and of course IFR). Thanks Dad.

I had my eyes glued to everything you did for the whole vid. On your landing I thought you might have passed your exit but ATC said "to the end" so I was just stumped. Mother called. FLOORED ME! After I calmed down I was like "Yea, I can see that happening to me to.". Good vid! Awesome.

LOL !!! Marvelous! Especially now that we have met your co-pilot Mom. Love it. I've had that call. Twice. Once by the tower as you have now experienced and once by CP-140 Aurora (equivalent to a P-3 Orion) that was calling on Guard north of the Queen Charlotte Islands - both initiated by my over anxious Mom when I was a low time pilot. with less than 1,500 hours. The first one was when I was flying a charter up the Strait of Georgia off the coast of British Columbia when the weather deteriorated quickly requiring me to divert to the closest airport and didn't call from the ground right away as heavy rain soon pounded the area. When I made the call to get my clearance to depart, ground was on the horn with an urgent message. Ooops. The second time was a little more real for Mom, when I was flying my first ferry flight in a Cessna T303 ; Japan - Alaska - B.C. and was (according to Mom) overdue on my last big leg between Juneau, Alaska and Port Hardy, B.C. After always calling her that I had landed as I completed each big leg, I had told her I should be arriving in Port Hardy at around 19:00 local time, but she swears I said 9:00 - as in AM. The Canadian Forces (now RCAF) had a routine CP-140 Aurora patrol bouncing around the air anyway and was on the look out - since 11 AM, looking for a Cessna Crusader that hadn't even taken off yet. When my flight plan became activated - the Aurora was called off as it became clear that Mom had it wrong and the Search and Rescue Center in Victoria rang her up to tell her I was just departing Alaskan airspace. Well that didn't stop another CF's Patrol aircraft from getting on Guard to let me know, I was in REALLY BIG trouble with my Mom as I entered Canadian airspace north of the Queen Charlotte's. I didn't sleep much upon arrival and making that telephone call home :-) Have a nice flight!

Ictpilot Ictpilot She promised to cook me steak and Eggs every night forever - if I gave up flying over water. LoL. Mom has never liked "deep" water. Best Mom on the planet and turned 80 this year!!!
Love watching your videos, all the way from down under. You're an excellent pilot always thinking ahead of the aircraft, taking care of the engines, thinking logically about your situation and using the winds to your advantage 👍. I was thinking would it be worth your while to upgrade to the G1000? Still keep the Ipad mini for writing atis readbacks and other tasks. It's just to me the cockpit seems a little cluttered but that's just me, minimalist by nature. I think it's great your mum cares and worried enough about you to call the tower to see where you were. Buy her a big bunch of flowers and give her a kiss. Mum's are the best! 😀
Hey great video Baron and funny too. Especially when the tower says" at least you have someone who cares" and you say (mumbled not real happy ) "yeah". So I am brand new to the channel LOVE aviation and its great to see you set your flight up. I'm getting ready to fly gliders so its completely different, much simpler for me. Have you done a video that does a walk around or tour of your plane? Thanks again man, very nice job!!
Welcome and I am glad you enjoyed it! I flew a glider once. It was a strange sensation for me but I would love to do it again sometime. I have not done an actual walk around video yet. I will try to add that at some point. Or maybe do it on my Instagram some time.
That's nothin......I was on the USS Coral Sea on Yankee Station in 1968, during the Vietnam War and got a message to report to the Captain's Office.....No sailor ever gets ordered to the Captain's Office for good news.....When I walked into the outer offer, a JG handed me a letter from my mother to the Captain that she had not heard from me....he said...."Write your mother."
1980 WESTPAC, doing REFTRA out of Subic. "Petty Officer Wilson, report to the XO's stateroom..." Severe pucker factor! Once again, Mom hadn't heard from me in 3 weeks, sent letter to the command. Sheesh!
My birth mother, NOT the mother that raised me, ruined my military career pulling BS stunts like this. I tried to explain to a couple of CO's what was going on and that she was my birth mother but NOT the mother that raised me...did no good and she basically flushed my career down the crapper! Those damned letters followed me for almost nine years until the Vietnam draw down when I was released from duty along with hundreds of other guys.
The moral of the story, keep your mother informed at all times! I like the idea of eliminating the large I Pad and mounting the mini on the yoke. I think it would be easier than looking right and free up needed room in the cockpit. Love your videos and always learn something new about flying!
Too close to home for me to laugh very hard. Had to play the ending for my wife though. She gets so mad if I don’t call or text before I depart, I have explained to her that I don’t feel comfortable breaking my train of thought after I start my pre-flight walk around. That she knows my expected departure time and if you don’t hear from me I departed on time. I always text upon arrival first thing after engine shutdown. Doesn’t matter though I always get the angry emoji as a reply. I might have messed up though as now she knows she can call the tower and have ATC put me on notice upon arrival. Not very smart am I. Lol
And here I was concentrating on everything you were doing to see if I could catch the mistake. Did not see that one coming though and that is a biggy! Love it!
I know exactly what that's like, as a major airline pilot for 28 years, no matter where I was in the world, my Mom would stay up and would not go to sleep, if it was night time in the U.S. expecting a call from me as soon as I arrive at the hotel. I can't tell you how much I miss that now! I lost my Mom to Alzheimers, it will be two years this October. For those that are lucky enough to still have their Mom in their life, please do call your Mom every chance you have! because the day will come where you may not have that chance. Thank you Baron Pilot for this fun video and this great reminder to others. Happy flying :)
Mate, its 11:46pm here in Sydney Australia and ive just stumbled upon your vids. I never thought i'd find something like this so interesting to watch so cheers!
I skipped most of the flight. Takeoffs and landings are the fun parts. This reminds of the passenger-arithmetic exercise that ends with "how many stops did the bus make?" Love the camera views.
Enjoy these moments with your mom and these funny things that happen. I lost my mom in 2011 to liver and breast cancer. Awesome video you had me in suspense the whole time LoL. Cherish the relationship. Even if you are in trouble with your mom Lmao ! Times like these are memories you we have of her for the rest of your life. I miss my mom very much.
You don’t have to watch a train wreck to learn something. Every video is full of learning moments both good and bad. From how someone gets their clearance to how they interact with ATC. You can also pickup on other pilot’s habits. Both what you want to emulate as well as those you don’t. But if nothing else you learned that a controller will not say “you are in big trouble” what they would say is “ have a number for you to call for a possible pilot deviation “ thanks for watching.
Mid '70s got Go-Stop-Right-Left directions from Tower to get to Air Service after cowering at ctr of runway in absolute whiteout. Had one wheel quadruple bounce sort of landing after Mini Snow Tornado shot Rt wing straight up, w/Lt wing at runway, correction whacked Instructor on side window w/KO. In Ypsi so had Ford Heavy right behind, but when we disappeared, he did Go Round. Couldn't get Ambulance for Instructor as freak storm so sudden traffic on I-94 & U.S. 23 smashed together, Instructor woke up groggy, glanced at me and said, "Are we ready for that lessen?" FAA & Air Serv Supvs laughed their azzes off, told details of Incident, and Instructor so whacked out he insisted he be listed as PIC! He was about 45, Community College Teacher for Aviation, & wanted his name on it to show students "It Can Happen To You". He claimed once he handed those out, they studied for realzies. So FAA collected data from Controller & Ford Heavy with both agreeing landing was best worst landing they had ever scene, and Best Probable Outcome: Firey Cartwheel Crash without survivors. I never got a letter or phone call, but that was obvious my last lesson. I am not a pilot.
All that buildup, I only watched this video to get to know I'm supposed to talk to my mother. That is genius sir, plus the video was chill yet really interesting. Kudos.
I noticed that the re-route that they gave you to go to ROMMY changed your flight path... ROMMY TO CTY takes you through restricted area R-2908. Did you get vectors around that did you deviate? Thanks for the vids.
I watched so intently. You are a true professional. Dot the i’s and crossing t’s. I thought, what could he have possibly done wrong? Great flight and beautiful aircraft. Thanks for the video.
Do as I do: When you suspect something is clickbaity, read a couple of comments to determine if it's actually clickbait, and if it is, just fast-forward to the end for the content. Then right after just close the video, don't give it a like or dislike, and don't give the channel a subscription. Because clickbaiters don't deserve any interaction beyond the view and a comment informing others about it.
I don't care who you are, that there is funny. It speaks of your great character BP, Thank you and keep them coming....

Welcome and I am glad you enjoyed it! I flew a glider once. It was a strange sensation for me but I would love to do it again sometime. I have not done an actual walk around video yet. I will try to add that at some point. Or maybe do it on my Instagram some time.
I'm not in aviation at all, but I think I should make an important call right now.
Awesome as always Baron Pilot, Kris. Doug from Canada, started to follow you about a month ago. Your living my dream. Cheers
Chase your dreams! You only live once!!
A controller with a sense of humor...good on her! ;-)
Isn't that great!
HAHA Well to her defense, you were at war!
You done messed up A-Aron!
oops! LOL
Insubordinate... and churlish.
Key & Peele - Substitute Teacher XD
Baron Pilot did you get grounded?? bum smacked?? lectured??
Do you wanna go to war Balackay?! Lol
The moral of the story, keep your mother informed at all times! I like the idea of eliminating the large I Pad and mounting the mini on the yoke. I think it would be easier than looking right and free up needed room in the cockpit. Love your videos and always learn something new about flying!
Since this video I have done more experimenting. Just need to get use to not having it at my finger tips
Maybe a trip to the shop for a complete panel replacement would be better then both pads. It's only (allot of) money. ;)
My son just sent me this video! I love it, I AM this mom!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! But don't be!!! LOL J/K
Well you had me scanning your flight the entire trip. Nicest trick ever. Got a good chuckle.
Hahaha, I was glued to the screen looking for what you did, that was funny! 😂 I enjoyed the video, great work 👍
Too close to home for me to laugh very hard. Lol
Get her the flightaware app
If she gets that she might find out just how much I fly. Not good either.
Good point. On second thought just get yelled at once in a while. Lol
First time watching and never realized how complicated fly was. Thanks for the lesson I think I'll stick with my wheels.
And here I was concentrating on everything you were doing to see if I could catch the mistake. Did not see that one coming though and that is a biggy! Love it!
25 mins of my life I’ll never get back. Thanks bro
Thanks for watching.
Lol, did she ground you?
LOL
hahahahahahahahaha i know a zillion times i didnt call my mom when i went for a walk or shop or go hiking in the woods
Epic, Tim Weaver!
That was a great pun
LOL - It is an a priori, universal truth:
Moms Rule !!
Turn on CC and read the D-ATIS before MSY departure.
Laughter guaranteed!
I'll have to try that
@windtee I got a good laugh out of that. Thanks for pointing it out.
Wild stuff!
LOL, "Thank you another bomb but we activate the air laughter and women must activate backbone or the runway with my new fighter"
I know it's crazy!
Got to love mom's!
Mate, its 11:46pm here in Sydney Australia and ive just stumbled upon your vids. I never thought i'd find something like this so interesting to watch so cheers!
Welcome to my channel!!! Thanks for watching!! I am glad you enjoy them!
I enjoy the flight. those engines just purr
25 min to set up a mom joke?
OK dude, i watched the whole video paying attetion to your flight and was your mom? really? jajajaja
LOL Glad you enjoyed it!
I want my 20 minutes back.
I skipped to the end
I skipped most of the flight. Takeoffs and landings are the fun parts. This reminds of the passenger-arithmetic exercise that ends with "how many stops did the bus make?" Love the camera views.
Pableixon where the fook is the spoiler alert?
Never notified them you had information "Mike".
Thank you. I’m sorry to hear about your mom. On another side check out my video with Mom. Guaranteed to make you laugh.
This would have been gold if it was 3-5mins max, a quick satisfying laugh. Still, thanks for making these videos
Haha...watching this on Mother's Day 2019. The irony 🤣
Trying to learn. Paid attention to what you did for the whole video. Didn't expect to get trolled. Won't be subscribing.
Really you watched the whole thing instead of fast forwarding to the landing scene? Dum-A!
My wife did the same thing to me just a week ago. Safe flying!
Drinking Starbucks is one mistake.
Coffee on your dash is another.
Starcucks. 😂😂😂😂
Sucked me right in on this.. looking for error the whole trip...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope timeout for bad Baron Pilot does not delay the next video. ;-)
Fingers crossed!! LOL
should the sad chair await ????
I love atc at smaller airports you can actually talk
All that buildup, I only watched this video to get to know I'm supposed to talk to my mother. That is genius sir, plus the video was chill yet really interesting. Kudos.
Glad it was not anything to get you in trouble. MOM, I am coming home!
Me too!!! LOL
25 minutes of my life i'll never get back
Keith Lakeman omg right?
You don't deserve them.
the importance of being Keith
Ultimate click bait. Glad I forwarded to the end.
Lucky, I just wasted my time trying to learn from an actual mistake I thought I missed.
Enjoyed your flight... didn't see that one coming... Call your Mom !!! Awesome...
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for watching!
Haha....you got me. Really enjoyed the video. Sure looked like a beautiful day for flying. Great Job 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it!
Clickbait. Skip to the end. The pilots mom called.
I do not like wasting valuable time on trick-to-view "Click~Bait," are you that desperate for views? I could have been reading Scripture in lieu.
I noticed that the re-route that they gave you to go to ROMMY changed your flight path... ROMMY TO CTY takes you through restricted area R-2908. Did you get vectors around that did you deviate? Thanks for the vids.
No but I did eventually ask to skip ROMMY to cut the corner and make up for the extra routing
Great content. You have the right stuff. Makes me miss flying.
Great departure, great flight, perfect landing , lousy son. Thank you for sharing this. Precious
I watched so intently. You are a true professional. Dot the i’s and crossing t’s. I thought, what could he have possibly done wrong? Great flight and beautiful aircraft. Thanks for the video.
Thank you and thanks for watching
I had to watch the entire video for that?? Really??
I'd like my 25 minutes back.
You just guaranteed I’m not watching any more of your videos.
Awww that was so sweet , love moms... thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
The dreaded call from the tower. OMG... Its still scary... Thank you for sharing.
I'm glad i skipped to the end and didn't watch the whole video lol
You'll be the one to miss something simple.
Click bait 🥴
Save yourself 20 minutes and fast forward 22.30
I did
That’s beautiful! God bless your mom.
Haha it’s nice that you have such nice banter between the tower at the end
I mean that’s sweet and all, but I’m so triggered by the clickbait
