I became a father right before this album was released. I think this is objectively one of their best albums on its own merit, but it has special meaning for me. This song in particular brings such emotion. My son is autistic and completely non verbal, and the lyrics soeak to my experience as a parent in such a powerful way. Literally each piece of the song has a personal connection for me and its all the more poetic that my favorite band wrote it. My wife and I have had some rough patches and were contemplating divorce prior to getting pregnant. The challenge of parenthood, especially of our special little boy, despite the difficulty, has been the greatest gift for us and our family. Whenever I feel defeated or useless, I remember the words to sing to my son, "so life gets hard, but it's no excuse or your fault..." and the words that hit home the most "am I wrong or did he save me?" Are 100% true...this is a masterpiece and I am so thankful that it came right when I needed it most.

The closing orchestral section makes much more sense if you listen to the album as a whole as that motif appears multiple times throughout Vaxis pt1 and Vaxis pt2

The sheer amount of different styles here all beautifully blended together, not only work as a great end to an album, but in isolation it’s just a fantastic medley with a beautiful through line of narrative

This is my favorite coheed song and a top 5 of all time for me. It’s so magical, apparently Claudio had been listening to a lot of broadway stuff and this inspired him to create this. I felt like everyone got their time to shine and it builds up such an amazing ending.

I grew up to post-hardcore and coheed and all that stuff and something I've noticed: There is no band that is as strong and as consistent in their work as Coheed and Cambria, this is their TENTH ALBUM, and its an absolute wonderful album. There are rarely bands that release their fourth+ album that have good tracks throughout the entirety of the album. Most bands hit their fourth and only have 2 hits on the entire album track listing.

    At 8:24 I had to stop…
I’ve been listening to Coheed and Cambria for many years, but their previous album I couldn’t really get into, so I didn’t really give this one a chance.
However, I’m hear listening to this with you now… and ABSOLUTE CHILLS. Claudio just had a masterful way of composing something truly unique. This really pulls a little something in the way of elements from across the discography and puts them together in a way that is TRULY unique.
Thanks for giving this a listen so that we can experience this together.

I love coheed so much that I have two tattoos dedicated to them: the Afterman: Ascension album cover, and the planetary keywork (an image ripped from one of the old Amory Wars comics). I’ve been listening to them since 2002, and I’ve seen them nearly every time they’ve come to town. One of my all time favorite bands.
Unrelated, I’d love to see a reaction to the group Hailaker, brainchild of Ed Tullett (1/2 of Novo Amor). Either the track Rainmaker, or the track Coma/Smoke. Shoot, the tracks are so short, why not both! Delicate and layered and orchestral - I think your composers mind would very much appreciate them. Hailaker is very under the radar here in the states, but it would be cool to give them a spotlight. There are currently zero reviews for them, which is a shame, considering how good the they are. I’d be happy to chip in a few bucks for a proper review

I'm glad you enjoyed this track! This was an excellent conclusion to the best album they've had in years. It had a bit of everything and was very well composed. I got to see this album performed live and let me tell you, it was a beautiful experience. I've gone to one show of their's per year for 13 years (minus 2020 for obvious reasons, but I made up for that with two last year), and it was my favorite one so far.
