👴 Old Composer Reactions 🤘
If you ever do The Willing Well 1-4 by Coheed and Cambria you're in for a treat.
Definitely need a Slow Burn video of them!
Hell yes
Definitely a great call! That song suite is a huge part of why Good Apollo Vol 1 remains my favorite single release from Coheed and Cambria. And I only qualify that because I count the two Afterman albums as one big album and that one is on par or slightly higher for me, but it isn't one release. But really my favorite between them goes back and forth.
Definitely
I've been wanting to see his take on The Final Cut for a while now.
Coheed is definitely one of those, "They're just off doing their own thing" bands. They have a little bit of everything in their catalogue, sappy love-rock songs, your standard 4/4 rock/pop-punk stuff, slightly more progressive off-time rock songs, to stuff that's full on borderline metal prog-rock. It's likely a product of the fact that a majority of their stuff is part of a multi-album spanning sci-fi concept story. It's almost schizophrenic because the tracks jump all over the place thematically over the course of an album, but that's because each song is like a chapter in the story, and the vibe changes from character to character. They're definitely a band worth taking a deeper dive into. Can't recommend them enough.
I am a lifer Coheed fan and every reaction I see I click and I love EVERY ONE OF THEM. So please, be you friend, and just do you and when a Coheed reaction shows up in my notifications I will NOT hesitate to click and tell my family and doggos to go the fuck away from 15 min. Much love! Hope you break that 250K and keep climbing
Its a monthly tradition to find new reactions for me lol. Love seeing peoples love for them sprout!
Great song. The title track from A Window of a Waking Mind is incredible. Mooooore Coheed.
Dark and Heavy from them: Gravity’s Union, Ladders of Supremacy.
YES PLEASE! I have only seen 2 reactions to Window of the Waking Mind in youtube and I would love for him to decompose that one :D
Also a great choice.
Please please please do Ladders of Supremacy!
Can't wait for Coheed Slow Burn ... such a range of material to pull from! Thanks Geebz!
Im still here and you are absolutely right about coheeds sound. They have always been like that. They stand out. Such an amazing band. Claudio and the rest of the guys put a crazy amount of work into everything they put out and it shows.
I love seeing Coheed come up on the channel! I think a Slow Burn Session of the Willing Well songs would be a great video!
I have been asking for this, it would be such a great experience for him to do them all at once!
@@EJarres I would love to see him do any suite of Coheed songs! The Afterman albums are probably my favorite, so the Key Entity ones would be cool as well.
100%
Im an ‘old’ Coheed nerd/fan, and this album REALLY surprised me in how much I loved it and have since replayed it from front to back like 1000x over. Incredible song and album.
A similar artist worth checking out is Mandroid Echostar!
Man I am exactly the same, Been with them since the very early days but this album just didn't catch me hey. I skipped through a fair bit. I tried so hard to like it.
I agree!! I wasn't a huge fan of some of the middle albums, but this one got me back into them!!! Saw them in concert this summer and they were awesome! Played songs from all their albums!!
I think my favorite part of this video is the "let's get started" 3 seconds later you just start vibing and it's exactly how I felt the first time hearing this song.
Alright! New Geebz vid with my morning coffee.
I'm still here. Just glad to see Coheed being supported. I got what you were saying at the end.
Geebz & Coheed, thats an automatic like & view. these are the rules of the internet.
Most definitely a standout band !!!!! I must admit I am a huge fan every time I hear any of their songs my head just tingles . Coheed and Cambria 4 life
Claudio provides me with endless ASMR
Slow burn on their Willing Well suite would be primo
Distinctive is the word you were looking for Geebz!
This song always puts a smile on my face.
Distinguishable is the word you are looking for Geebz.
They keep getting better and have never phoned in an album.
I'm back from my hiatus 🤘🎸
For no reason today i decided to watch people react /review coheed and im not disappointed.
Favorite band for sure.
I love Coheed and Cambria! Love Claudio's voice and love (and I am also a bit envy of) His hair... hehe!
You’re at the absolute tip of the Iceberg when it comes to Coheed. There’s some absolutely wild rides in their deep cut tracks.
I'm still here! Love Claudio!!
I think I understand what you were getting at at the end of the reaction? A lot of Prog, Emo, Metal, Hard Rock, etc bands maintain a dark, brooding, hard edge. Coheed doesn't shy away from bringing synth, power pop, glam rock, etc into their work. Children of the Fence for the most part accept them for being who they are, although a lot of Prog Metal purists eschew the new stuff. I appreciate all of it.
Still here and love your Coheed reviews. More from Coheed is definitely the Willing Well suite. Personal favorite is Gravity's Union.
Would love for you to do a slow burn on Coheed!
I'm just another cotf who's still here. Love the content, and would love even more Coheed content. The Willing Wells are my top request.
Seeing someone smile while listening to Coheed makes me soooooo happy
You're one of my favorite YTs. I love this channel. More Coheed!
Been a fan of Coheed since Good Apollo came out, and this is easily my favorite album they have done in all these years. One of my favorite albums of the year and a hard contender for AOTY.
Absolutely agree AOTY! I’m also a long time fan as well - and this album is top 3 for me. Also them playing the songs on this album live are on another level!
@@chasenthehype Sadly I have never gotten to see them live. I really would love to.
@@Swollen_Goat it's a hell of an experience! And I gotta agree with you. This is the best album they've put out since GAIV.
Architects: A New Moral Low Ground - definitely worth a listen, very dynamic.
Absolutely love this song and album!! I also love the rhythm in the track Comatose on the album.
Seeing this live had about 3k people dancing to this song... something about it is more dancing then the other songs and soo much fun
Still here Geebz! I'd highly recommend The Dear Hunter! I saw the open for Coheed a few years back and fell just as in love with them as I did Coheed (maybe even more in love for a period of time). Their Acts I-V albums are insane!
TDH is so damn good, man. Casey Crescenzo is just off on his own planet, building ridiculous arrangements for us.
Coheed and Cambria's pretty much always sat themselves well within both the prog rock and pop punk genres while flirting with a few others. It's one of my favorite things about them.
Anything off their album No World for Tomorrow is a treat by the way
Coheed's catalog is extensive and quite the experience. You will find so much diversity and joy after each track.
Coheed is always a unique experience when you listen to them. I can't think of too many people who can sing the way Claudio does, let alone do so in a band like this.
Would absolutely LOVE to hear a slow burn of them, I was thinking of that before you even said it!
Many have talked about getting to songs from their 3rd album _Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV,..._ and one of my favorite tracks from them is _The Willing Well II: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness._ It has such a powerful and driving end, it's such a good song.
Thanks, Geebz! Always good to hear C&C on here, appreciate all you do, man!
I'm still here, and keep on rocking!🤘🤙
his vocals were extraordinary
They’re my faaaaavorite.
Fun Fact: Claudio sang on a cover of a Rush song called Anthem with Danny Carey, the amazing bassist Les Claypool of Primus fame and Bill Kelliher of Mastodon. I saw it on a youtube channel called 2 Seconds to Late Night. The host of the channel calls himself Gwarsenio Hall, they've done some amazing covers on that channel.
Distinctive! I think that was the word! Describes Coheed in a nutshell for me. Also bombastic, angsty, unapologetic, emotional. Love this band.
Lol! A window to the walking man?!?!?
Totally gonna start calling it that now...
Been a fan of coheed since second stage turbine blade, please do more of them...❤️
Highly recommend Domino the Destitute. I can't say it strongly enough, though I think for you specifically, Geebz, the songs Radio Bye Bye and The Running Free would be right up your alley.
You know what's a masterpiece? The willing well III apollo II the telling truth
I think Coheed is a standout. There’s honestly no real comparison you’re right. Extremely unique.
A slow burn on The Camper Velourium I, II, and III would be fantastic. IKSSE3 will always be my favorite by Coheed.
Big time Coheed fan and love seeing you break their sound down. While it would be cool to run through a group of their prog songs for the slow burn, I really think picking one track from each of the first 4 albums and one from each of the most recent two would be great for you. You could do any song from those albums and you could get a good experience of their discography. The Coheed fans would love it as well.
The entire Burning star IV album is incredible. As is pretty much their entire discography, but that album is a masterpiece. They’re just an amazing band all around
"A window of the walking man" That made my day thank you haha
Got to love Coheed bro. I'm still here
Thank you for doing more Coheed! Love your breakdown/reactions! You gotta do "Ladders of Supremacy" off their new album. It absolutely rules!
Yes please! 🥺
Love how you continue to review Coheed! Window of a Waking Mind is a must tho.
Coheed breakdown? Im in.
Their albums are best listened to in order, especially vaxis pts 1 and 2. Songs blend into a story
I've been a fan of Coheed since their first album in 2002 and have enjoyed their entire discography. Easily my favorite band. As a composer, I will echo others in saying you should absolutely do the Willing Well series from Good Apollo I, but also the Window of a Waking Mind title track from their latest album. Unbelievable songwriting. Thanks for the vids!
I only listen to metal these days, but 'Good Apollo vol.1' has been my favorite album since 2005.
The structure of it is perfect to me, even without following the storyline.
So if you ever have a spare 70 mins...
Yeessssss please do a coheed slow burn sesh! Would be amazing to track their evolution in sounds over the years. Suggested tracks would be: time consumer, the crowing, any of the good Apollo tracks, mother superior, domino the destitute, it walks among us... So many options!!
Also, can't wait to hear the next behemoth commentary
Also also... I'm still here!
They have such a dynamic writing process, which I think is really fueled by the fact that the songs are composed around a massive story. And yeah, they are such a unique band that no one really tries to copy their sound. You asked about other bands that people just don't touch because it's such a signature sound or style. For me, the first one that pops into my head is The Mars Volta, which you have already covered. They released a new album just this year after being broken up for almost a decade. Very pop oriented but it's still that eclectic fusion of latin and rock sounds.
Can't feel nothing but happiness whenever I listen to this track no matter the mess I'm in at any given moment, I think I can consider myself as an avid c&c fan coz they never fail to put a smile on my miserable face 😂
You’ve got to do the song Window of the Waking Mind also from their new album. It’s such a cool and unique song. Ladders of Supremacy too is amazing.
Title track off their latest album: "Window of the Waking Mind" Been a Coheed fan for 15 years and I think compositionally it is the best they have ever written
Still here. Always here.
I like to think of C&C as a "musical". Many musicals have a mix of genres depending on story, the setting or the intended reaction. I think these guys do the same thing depending on what part of the story the song is about.
I 100% believe that there isn't another band like Coheed and Cambria.
3
A bit similar. And fronted by Josh's brother.
"Delirium Trigger" would be a cool one to react to.
I'd like a slow burn Coheed session. I saw the Flavor House Atlantic video so I wont include that one but some of my favorites I think should would be good for the slow burn are: Welcome Home, Ten Speed, Feathers, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3, The Running Free, The Camper Velourium III: Al the Killer. Keep in mind also that all these songs are about stories from their comic strips.
Coheed & Cambria is unique and there is no other band or individual who is quite like them. They are their own brand and genre.
Definitely my favourite track from the Album. Thank you for your honest opinion!
Im still here!
When youre talking about is there anyone like them... so they arent exactly a 1-1 comparison but this band they have toured with in the past but the are definitely more proggy with some distinct vocals, that would be Thank You, Scientist. I'd recommend the song Feed Your Horses by them. Again not a complete comparison because Coheed is a very unique band, but they definitely scratch that same itch. Also Coheeds newest album really embraces the poppy-er side of their music as you saw with this track, its more produced and radio-ready than some of their older songs. Spot-on as always Geebz.
Slow burn of Coheed's proggier/heavier stuff would be amazing. Al the Killer, Domino, Willing Wells, Everything Evil
Just a heads up...
Riverside has a new song called "I'm done with you" and it's awesome.
Great band to do a slow burn on, include:
[Song mentioned above]
Escalator shrine
Second life syndrome
river down below
4 different albums, 4 different time periods yet distinctively Riverside. Much to uncover...
The word you're looking for is
"Claudio oh, oh yeah ahae, but I wish that you were, I'm spying on you newow, how important I could have been...to...you "
Coheed for the win!!! This album was really good, I like their earlier albums the best, but all of their albums are always well done
Geebz! Thank you for the video! I'm still here! A band that sounds similar to coheed but heavier like you were asking about is Mandroid Echostar. Canadian boys that do some amazing work! Their singer sounds very much like Claudio of coheed but the band is heavier music wise as a whole. They actually just released a new track for an upcoming album after a 6 year hiatus! Check them out! Mandroid also toured with my favorite band protest the hero! Much love geebz!!
Coheed is amazing and your reaction videos are some of the best around. Thanks for getting into them and looking forward to a slow burn (what's a slow burn?)
I feel I should put my two cents in on bands that are similar stylistically and sonically, as a massive fan I seek other stuff like that. There are a lot I've heard but no one really seems to hit the mark quite so closely as Hidden Hospitals, particularly on their debut album Surface Tension. They're a little on the darker more melancholic side, but still have those prog flourishes while still maintaining a very pleasant, poppy sound.
The song that follows this goes so well together. It’s pair imo. I think it’s “bad man”. My personal fav of this album
Your slow burn for them should have The Crowing, Gravity's Union, Queen of the Dark, Gravemakers and Gunslingers, Number City, and Iron Fist
That list gives you a little bit from across their entire discography with each song being different than the rest. The Crowing gave me my daughters middle name 'Ambellina' & is one of the songs that got me into them in the first place way back over 15 years ago.
You should also check out Claudio's other project The Prizefighter Inferno. The song I recommend there is Run, Gunner Recall, Run! The Town Wants You Dead.
long title I know but its a pretty cool song.
I'd also like to recommend the band Murder By Death with the songs Steal Away, Brother, and Fuego!
Please please check out MBD though, you wont believe their sound when you try to picture what it could be based on the bands name.
I'm still here. And you should take the time to look into the story mythos that this band has created. Keep on rocking my brotha!
Both Vaxis albums were almost like a return to their roots, but an older wiser return to it. Window of the waking mind though is an absolute banger! I'm so glad they chose to work with Zakk Cervini!
Great song, the song a window to the waking mind on this album is the most amazing song by them. It's a very progressive song with multiple genres in it (mainly musical).
To answer the question, they just kinda do their own thing. Whatever style/genre they want to play they try it.
Yeah the suggestion is a life of its own... I've suggested Incubus' - aqueous transmission a ton but i know it is a drop in the sea of suggestions. Some reason this song reminds me of alien ant farm, i think you've done them before. Also the vibe it gives reminds me of 80's kid action movies like never ending story. Well produced/mix.
it's the 'baby are you okay'. made me think of smooth criminal
I'm still here.
I've always thought Claudio Sanchez sounds like John Kimbrough from that old twin cities band Walt Mink. Never been able to unhear it.
To me it feels like they wrote this song with playing it live in mind, such a pump up song. God that’s gonna be sick to see in person lol
Distinct!!! That's the word you wanted! 😂
You’re a hero
COHEED AGAIN YESSIRRR!!!!
I'd love to see you do a reaction and breakdown to "Ladders of Supremacy"
One of the most, for lack of better terms, "epic" track they've made in a loooong time. The rest of the album is fire, but that song is Coheed turned up to 11
Still here
Behome eth lmfao. Im still here!!! 🤙🤘
Co and Ca are a unicorn, in my opinion. I'm still here!
I'm still here. Delirium Trigger was the first song of theirs that I heard, and it blew me away. I've always thought Coheed and Rush are in the same vein, thematically and musically.
The Final Cut my favorite shortly followed by DT
I just discovered your channel and have been watching your Coheed videos. I hope you look at comments on older videos because i still have to catch up on your new stuff, but I would be interested in seeing you take a look at "The Dear Hunter"
Unique is the word you seek.
More coheed please! SLOW BURN!
I would say that Coheed is one of the most unique bands to exist. They filled in a genre and sound that nobody knew they wanted. And they experiment a lot without leaving their songwriting or core sound behind. There's not one album I'd consider a skip by them.
Next track I would recommend is Window of the Waking Mind!
Moontooth reminds me of coheed alot
Distinctive!
I friggin’ love this album.
Great song choice, Geebz!
