What is so messed up to me with the verdict is the jury WALKED the school. Saw it.... how can anyone say yea he should live... no way
I agree! They milked it to just let him be alive. If they think heaven is real those jurors that screwed everyone are never going to be in any heaven.
That's what angers me. That that day was kept frozen in time in that place. The victims loved ones knowing this and hoping maybe just maybe that will help get the outcome they needed. And not even that
They saw the crime scene, the blood and bullet holes, the bodies of the victims, the autopsies, they heard the gun shots and childrens screams, they saw his long history of violence and homicidal thoughts, they saw he had no mercy. They did not care.
After today I'm confused as to what the death penalty is for. Seriously.
No excuses. Something is wrong with this damn country.

I feel this woman’s anger, pain and frustration! She is completely correct! It’s sad that she came to America from Britain and has this tragedy happen to her child and family. What a disgusting miscarriage of Justice!

Although I respect her grief, for her to bring up BLM into the room of many ethnic families who are suffering, claiming that she was last to know about her daughter because she is Black, is highly ungenerous. My heart is breaking for this mother.
And now his fate lies in the hands of a prisoner who will have the courage to right this wrong. Courage that one juror…did not have. May that juror be haunted by her decision and may Cruz be dealt with quickly and without mercy!

The death penalty either needs to be used or it needs to be eliminated entirely.
By having the death penalty available as a maximum sentence and not using it to punish the worst of crimes, we are denying justice to victims of the most heinous crimes.

The jury should come before the cameras and explain their reasoning for this decision. They should be confronted by the families.
It was one person from the jury that voted against the death penalty. So heartbreaking for the families to be that close to getting justice.
That would be a terrible idea not only on the fact that it was one juror, but on the fact that puts a target on their backs.

Absolutely not no one would ever do jury duty and if it’s 1 or 3 jurors it’s not unanimous I feel for these families however the shootings are still happening get rid of those guns

This mom is brave. I agree in everything she said. She and the other families should go to the Supreme Court to appeal the verdict.
For Florida to have capital punishment and not implying it in this case its a real hard slap in the face for the victims and the families who for ever would go through this life with a terrible pain in their hearts.

Did you even watch the trial? Cruz didn't have the weapon on him, and he evacuated with the other students. In the confusion, obviously the police wouldn't have spotted Cruz right away.

@@halcyon2017 the fact when they approached him or apprehended him, they did so very lightly and gentle. If he were black, he would have been taken out, he should’ve been taken out execution style that day especially knowing what he’s done. Due to his race, he’s been given way too much respect and this sentence speaks volumes on that.

Justice was not done. He may suffer more however, with this decision. Fetal alcohol syndrome does not make you a murderer. He was obsessed with the culture of death. He understood right from wrong.
Fetal alcohol syndrome does not make one a murderer. True. However, it does make one susceptible to having serious issues. We know that the guy who murdered had an upbringing where he was blamed for his disorder and treated with such indignity as a result, eventhough he didn't choose it. We also know that he cut himself. He mistakenly blamed himself and he blamed himself enough to cut himself. He was taught that. I think that blaming others and resorting to killing are a part of the next level from that point. It's not really his fault. He is just a product of his environment.
Other prisoners do not take kindly to people like NC. Hopefully he gets a more gruesome and suitable justice at the hands of others in there

It is crazy to me that someone with his background (being expelled for and having the cops called on him several times for violence) was able to obtain a weapon at 19, but some people will still argue until they're blue in the face that more control over who's able to get these guns will do absolutely nothing.....

Yes it's true that "criminals don't follow laws" and you can obtain weapons illegally but the majority of these school shooters are loners that don't have the connections to do this

It's really sad that (presuming) Helena's family came to the US for a life with more opportunities/better quality of life, when she was killed AT SCHOOL, where she should be SAFE. I am from England and we made a change when there was ONE school shooting.

The juror needs to face severe penalties if proven they withheld information prior to being selected to serve as a juror. The families deserve it after this verdict.
