This video, and all of the reaction videos on this channel, transform the original material from entertainment into education. The original content that is “reacted” to is analyzed by a musician who is now disabled and uses the performance to highlight technique and further discuss all aspects of the music-making process. In addition, musical theory and style choices are also often analyzed and discussed.
While the video does use the entire song (as things such as vocal endurance and song structure must also be considered), there are many pauses. In addition, often the original content is examined to further explain the musical process. During pauses, the reactor goes into detail on how sounds are produced, why or why not they are good, or if they are particularly difficult to make or play.
The pauses often last a long time, so much so that this video cannot be considered a replacement for the original material. A link to the original video is always placed in the About section, and viewers are encouraged to watch it without pauses and commentary.
Please do note the total time of this video compared to how long the original song is. That should give you an impression of the lengthy commentary provided.
If you wish for further proof of the educational purpose of this channel, please look at my other videos on vocal techniques, and singer health.

This has to be up there with the best male rendition of this song. John’s vocals are just flawless, like a angel singing. You should check out SoHyang from Korea singing this song. She’s phenomenal too and sings the best female cover in my opinion

He had his first hit in 67. Between then and this, he had been in a pantomine two musicals, a tv comedy, co hosted two music shows, and was king of the pops for 5 years. At the stage of this song, he was doing apearances on tv shows and small pub audiences, as the radios had lost interest. It was a hard struggle foe him to get back, as no record company.would give him a deal, and no radio would play him.

John’s older than he appears here but his voice as always is clear, strong with good enunciation and such a lovely tone very recognisable J.F. no matter what genre he sings.

Yes, that's where we got it from Elizabeth, from the charismatic voice. That's where we met each other. That's kind of how we got this channel started. But yeah, it takes a little getting used to talking about females and males, mouth shapes. LOL, thank you for watching the video. My middle name is Lee, by the way. I guess you know that you've watched the video. LOL.

The only lessons are sensational John had were some breathing lessons. I stand corrected but I believe he never had one singing lesson. He is a natural gift to us all

A much younger John here but still with that unmistakable angelic voice. I love this song and John’s version is epic. He puts so much passion and emotion in this and all his music. Awesome.

Gethsemane acapella is now up online! Just sayin 😂 Love this version of Bridge Over Troubled Waters, with young Johnny in his little brown nerdy suit 😂 ❤ You won’t find info on John’s version because he didn’t have one. It wasn’t recorded, he just sang it for the show. He’s also done Your Song (Elton John) btw.

His voice is a lot cleaner here, but I actually enjoyed the grit he developed later on. He could still sing clean when he wanted.

See, that’s why you guys are so great to watch, intelligent and insightful commentary, laced with humour. In all the times I’ve listened to this on my playlist, as in every night to slow my thoughts and bring on sleep, I’ve only ever matched the voice to the song, not the personality to the song - thanks OGL for that perspective.
Yes, he grew a lot into himself as a performer as he got older, but also he comes alive with a crowd, and that was missing there.

    • @oglschmitt

Aww, thank you. ❤❤ It's always fun to do these reactions with Danny. We're both glad that you can get some insight as well as entertainment from our reactions. 🤗
I do tend to associate personality traits with singers I like. From Maynard James Keenan's esoteric intellectualism to Bruce Dickinson's relentless drive. John always comes across as very giving and friendly, so songs like "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "You'll Never Walk Alone" just seem to fit him like a glove. Thank you so much for your compliments and support! 🫂

If you look at his very early work, late 60s, early seventies, he had great interaction with his audience.

I'm fairly certain this was on the Don Lane Show, and Sammy Davis Jr was on the same show, and this was the first time he'd heard JF. He heaped so much praise on John that he shifted from foot to foot with embarrassment. Sammy said then and there that he wanted to take John back with him to the US and launch his career. Sammy was like that -: genuine and generous with his praise and mentorship, but this was next level.

    • @oglschmitt
      @oglschmitt 7 месяцев назад +1

Once again Ms. Jennifer, thank you for a fascinating tidbit of information. It is hard to imagine anyone hearing John and not seeing great things in his future.

    • @jenniferanderson1499

@@oglschmitt I could be wrong - there's a video from 1980 where Don Lane, Sammy and John are sitting chatting, and John is looking very dapper in a tux. But Sammy hopped over from the US for the show regularly and John was also a regular, so their paths crossed a few times, I dare say more behind the scenes. But this mental picture of a very uncomfortable John in a truly dreadful brown suit squirming under lashings of praise from the incomparable, irrepressible SDJ won't go away.
