Art Garfunkel is singing he is the tall blonde in the back. Paul Simon wrote it, he’s in front. No artist can touch the original. This is it. It gets no better.
After hearing Elvis sing it art turned to someone else in the audience and asked”what do we do now?” I guess he liked Elvis’ rendition and it is great as Elvis was a deeply emotional singer. But art and Paul and company really take it home.
Released in 1970. Going on 75 years. As beautiful a piece of music as ever made. Written by genius Paul Simon and masterpiece sung almost completely by Art Garfunkel, the taller one with voice of an angel.
Simon and Garfunkel deserve to be in the rock and roll music hall of fame just for the work they did on this song. Paul wrote the song art sang the song. I can't understand how a person had it within himself to create such a masterpiece of poetry and music. And the thing is he did it over and over again.
This song always gives me goosebumps, but watching you... I am covered with goosebumps! Thank you so much for your beautiful open heart. Thank you for your reaction.
I have watched dozens and dozens of reactions to this song and your's was beautiful and wonderful to watch - you weren't disappointed and I think you were reliving experiences as you listened. Very nice. God Bless. Classic song and Classic Reaction.
Hi John, and happy NY! Well, it's been so long since I listened to the song, and I never knew Art was featured. But you are right, and anyway it was/IS a beautiful song. You have to appreciate Nasa's reaction! I like it when young people will listen to some old singers.
@@nasaafricareactslifestyle I first heard this in 1968 when I was in High School this and Silent Night and the 7 o'clock news that is a tough one as the news is about the war in Viet Nam in 1967.I went into the Marines in 69
It may be the most perfect song ever written. I've listened to it a thousand times (at least) and performed it live for many decades. Bridge Over Troubled Water always takes me where I wanna be.
This is a beautiful, heartfelt tribute to friendship. Some, like me, read it in a more religious context. However you look at it, this is simply a timeless classic. Fifty-three years after it hit the top of the charts, we're still listening to it, discussing it, remembering how it helped us through a hard time. Art Garfunkel's gorgeous vocals just add to the beauty and lushness of the song. Many have covered it, but no one has ever done it better than the originator. Crying is probably the standard reaction to it, whether you're hearing it for the first time or the thousandth.
Many have covered this song but it will never be as good as the original written and performed by Simon and Garfunkle. Art Garfunkle, the taller one, has the silky smooth voice and Paul Simon is considered by many to be a poetic genius. They were HUGE in the 60's and had numerous hit songs. I bought this album as soon as it came out when I was in 10th grade and played it 100's of times. It won 5 grammys including best song. You probably know the song Sound of Silence which has been covered by Disturbed and Pentatonix which was also written by Paul and was also a huge hit for SandG. I would encourage you to also listen The Boxer, Homeward Bound, Mrs. Robinson and many more. After they split up, Paul went on to write and perform many more hit songs. Also in 1981 they reunited to perform a concert in Central Park in NYC in front of 500,000 adoring fans which can be found on YT. I was touched by your reaction and wish you peace. Beautiful reaction.
One of the greatest vocal performances of all time both in the studios & live in 1981 in Central Park in front of 500, 000, where Art casually sang this sometimes with his hands in his pockets
Dear friend, thank you for genuine, honest, heartfelt reaction. I first heard this song as a child and, although I could not understand most of the words, Art's voice touched me deeply and it has always been one of the songs of my life. God bless you sister. From Porto, Portugal I wish all the best for the New Year! Please take care.
First of all, my sympathies to you for the loss of your friend; I know what it's like to lose someone like that...it leaves a hole in your heart. You are so right about this song: it's all about friendship, loyalty, and, most especially, love. Paul Simon wrote this song, and Art Garfunkel (the taller of the two) sang it, with Simon adding his voice in part of the 3rd verse. This is the original version, and, to my mind, has never been, and never *will* be, equaled...Art Garfunkel's voice is just perfect for the lyrics. Great reaction...and, I admire your courage in allowing yourself to show your emotions in the video!
Thank you for sharing your heart so vulnerably. You’re so right. That kind of person is so hard to find and must be cherished. Too often, that realization comes after they’re gone. Bless you.
I think music has a way to reach our emotions no matter how we might think we are somehow in charge of them. In the story 'The Little Prince' by Antoine de Saint-Exupery the title character says: "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” I enjoyed your reaction very much. Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water is an incredible piece of work.
Paul Simon and Art Garfunkle. One of the most successful duos of the late 60s, early 70s. Simon wrote all the lyrics and music. Also renowned for backing track for the film The Graduate. Simon went on to achieve great solo success with albums like Graceland and There goes Rhymin Simon.
Not to get preachy here, but I always thought that if Jesus were to sing a song, He would sing this one. Everything in this song He would do, and indeed He HAS done, for you and I. Beautiful reaction, my dear.
I got this album when I was 12 years old and it changed my musical life. I've heard dozens of artists cover this song but none can do it stronger than this original. Thanks for reacting to this.
My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear friend. I too lost my best friend of 30 years last November. I am still gutted by his passing. You are so right. People need to take that little extra time to let these people know how special they are. How precious the time spent with them is. Because the finality of loss is total. You have such a caring face Dearie. Well you have 1000's of new friends. Though we can never replace your late friend. Please remember Nasa, should 'tears fall from your eyes, we will dry them all. We're on your side when times get rough and friends just can't be found.' Bless you young lady, RNB
I love your beautiful, heartfelt reaction. Sorry for your loss of your dear friend. You have a beautiful soul. No need to be sorry, I feel your hurt. You made me tear up. This is one of the most beautiful songs of all time! They don't make artists like these two anymore. Have a beautiful night. God bless!
Paul Simon is the one with dark hair in the front,he was the writer of most of their songs, this song he especially wrote for Art Garfunkel blond curly hair to sing as a solo...never apologize for expressing your emotions, this song does that,it touches me and I've been hearing it for years, sweet reaction by you.
youll probably see people that loved you in heaven, but even if you dont, dont fret, they loved you for a reason, and it was as much a gift to them as it was to you

I watched your face as you listened and what a genuine, sincere heartfelt reaction. I have watched many reactions to this song but yours is the best!!! God Bless You😊
Art Garfunkel has a voice like an Angel, he was also in the Mike Nichols Film Catch-22 Paul Simon? the little one is a great singer songwriter, and also a very good guitar player.
Your reaction shows how deep you are and the experiences that you have had plus the example that you shared prove that!!!. I would love to just give you a big hug, young lady. Lord's blessings to you and your family !!!!
Art Garfunkel has one of the most eerily beautiful voices that has never been matched in the 50 years since this song was released. He is by far the most underrated singer ever.
Oh my god.......I remember in 1972 in kilkee co clare ireland lying in bed at night when l was 9 years old with this playing in the background, the jukebox in the casino was playing and this was on. I remember looking at the ceiling and hoping it would never end. I was in that house where l stayed on holidays many years ago several years ago to remember that moment.
I'm glad you could discover this song. Simon and Garfunkel are a treasure. This is one of their greatest songs. Another one that touches me deeply is Morning Has Broken by Cat Stevens. It's absolutely beautiful.
When we lose someone who's always had our back, we can never replace them. But we can be that person for someone else. Doing so both honors them and continues their story here in the world. Is that enough? I don't know. It's just the best I've been able to manage.

Thank you...🙏🙏

An appropriate reaction. Paul Simon is one of America's greatest songwriters.

I like your comments on the song. It begins as a humble blues and gospel tune. But ends as a ray of hope.
Paul Simon has dark hair and is short. Art garfunkel is the lead singer and is tall.

And Joe Osborn on bass.
