Did you know that Stevie Nix toured with John Farnham once time...aound 2006 ish.
John was supposed to be her supporting act ....the problem was that as John came on first the crowds went wild for him. And sadly many of the audience left after John finished and many of the rest left before she finished.
She was livid...and wanted to get him off the bill. She was quted saying that she had no idea rhat she would have to conpete with the Bing Crosby of Australia.
She ended up shortening all of his sets. Even tried putting him after her own set...but nothing worked. Poor lady.
Similar thing happened when he toured with Lionel Richie
At the time John was closer to 60 than 50, and had been retired for a few years ....i guess we were all missing our Farnsey so much that we would have bought tickets to anything that had him on board. 😂😂😂😂
He realised pretty quickly that he could still draw a crowd and the rest is history. ❤❤

It may well be Cold Chisel's song...but John totally owns it, especially in both of these performances. The one you started first is actually phenominal....I totally understand how this song sung by either John or Cold Chisel, can bring grown men to tears. But it takes John singing this for me to loose it.

I used to think that too, but ive been told it’s not correct. Steve Prestwich (who wrote it) said it was about a soldier during the Vietnam war
