Being an Aussie and seeing an American appreciate the awesome power of both of our nation treasures; James Dixon “Jimmy” Barnes and John Peter Farnham is heartwarming. It’s incredible that people from other parts of the world can sit down, listen to the power of the voices of these two men and be in awe of them just like we all have been since the moment we first heard them. My mother introduced Jim and John to me at a very early age back in the 80’s (I am 38 now) and they are both the basis for comparison when it comes to vocal rage and I may be a little bias but for me nobody has ever reached the level of these two men save for someone like perhaps Freddie Mercury. I have read Jimmy's first book back in the day. He has a paragraph about this performance, he rates this a one of his worst. The Reason being is he normally warm up his voice for an hours before going on stage, but this night he didn't. And he is right. It is rough ass guts. During this time he was singing as good as ever, but this was not good. PS. I adore jimmy, named my first born after him

Yea you gotta react to the classic Cold Chisel era when Jimmy was young, Farnham is technically an unbelievable singer but more soft pop/rock, Cold Chisel were more rockers. They were as big as AC/DC to australians plus the guitarist singer had an amazing voice as well.

This is actually a Jimmy Bares song from when he was the lead singer for Cold Chisel but these two have played off each other for years. As per the other comment about Jimmy being drunk, well he was drunk for a lot of his career and we never complained or even mentioned it back then because it didn’t matter he was awesome anyway. Love your channel keep up the good work and thanks for the great memories mate. Shooter.

He apologised later for phoning this performance in, without bothering to give it a lick of warmup or rehearsal. At least the rest of the time he was drunk he was still being professional about it.

The raincoat John is wearing is an Australian coat from a company called Drizabone. (Dry as a Bone) I think the coat he is wearing is the Heavy weight Oilskin Riding Coat. If you see it from the back it has a high split so you can ride horses and it keeps you warm and dry. It’s a legend and a lot of people wear it as a fashion accessory as well as a riding coat. A lot of horse and country people wear them. They are really great coats and wear well. They are an Aussie Icon. I hope you like the information. Hugs from Australia ❤️❤️🐨❤️❤️

Dunno about rivals. Farnsey was more for the mums(album sales skyrocketed on mother's Day) & 'easy listening' radio stations while Barnsey was a pub rocker made good & catered to a very diff hard rock market.

Two Aussie legends having fun. Been around seems like forever. Love that you gave John's Backing singers and musicians praise. They are amazing and as far as I know they always perform with John as well as some solo songs. I saw this concert live years ago and it was breathtaking. Not just great singers but terrific Aussie blokes. Have a read about Jimmy's childhood, he wrote a book about it. Both of them have wonderful supportive wives and families. If you can find Mahalia Barnes Jimmy's Daughter often sings with him. She is fabulous love her singing im on fire. Another great Aussie singer is Kate Cebrano. We have so much talent in our country. Also love you highlighted Guy Sebastian. Just love Guy. He is fabulous. Thanks for your critiques I really enjoy watching them. Thankyou.
