The Australian Rugby League was going fully proffesional in the 80's. An incredibly popular product needed to go to the next level. I loved this so much. When jimmy and Tina did this it was perfect. Jimmy always said that it was Tina that made him want to be a singer. He fell in love with her and her style, talent, voice her everything when he broke in to an Adelaide nightclub one night and saw her perform live when he was a teen. Worked out well for everyone I think
All those who worked with Tina on the NRL project, all spoke very highly of her. She was friendly, giving, down to earth and natural and all of course were in awe of her. Australia was very blessed to have had her in our lives, even just for a short time. Sad loss for the whole world.

Tina? it sounds like the Temptations or Supremes or some other Motown group. A bit like people thinking that Tina's version or Rolling on the River was the original :) it was a CCR song.

Quick history of this song. Originally recorded by Bonnie Tyler in 1988 as The Best, It was later covered by Tina Turner in 1989. The Turner cover has been used in many commercials. In 1992 Turner recorded this duet with Jimmy Barnes for the NRL which has since become the games anthem.
Close, it was the ARL back then (NRL was what came of the ARL and Superleague competing for 2 seasons and both struggling... similar to what'll probably happen in the US with the NFL and XFL).

Jimmy Barnes tells of sneaking in to see Ike & Tina Turner in Adelaide when he was a youngster. This would have been magic for him. It’s great that you’re showcasing the great talent we have in Australia. The latest journey into this talent takes me right back to my younger years, and just confirms to me that music simply isn’t the same these days. I should tell you, you shouldn’t be surprised to see Johnny Diesel (also known as Mark Lisotte) in many of Jimmy’s projects. He’s his brother-in-law, and clearly love and respect each other. Right after watching this video, I came across an interview of Jimmy promoting his latest project on a chat show that I’ve already seen. You might be interested as Tina passed away this very day and he was asked about working with her. It’s also surprising that one of the hosts made the same comment as you about them being the male and female versions of each other! Keep up the good work!

This song used to come on for Friday night football. I remember i was probably 4 or 5, and Dad would watch the footy in the loungeroom with my uncles, and me and my mum would watch movies on a tiny little tv in the kitchen. Mum would doze off in the kitchen and I would always sneak into the loungeroom with the boys and sit on my dads lap and cheer on our team (Canterbury Bulldogs btw lol). The memories seem a little ghetto now when i think of Mum asleep on the kitchen floor. But my Dad is long passed now, and this is a memory I had forgotten. Thanks for reminding me❤️

Yep, I agree, the male and female equivalent of each other. They bring out the best of each other. Diesel solo guitar in his own right. Great guitarist, 'only the best'!
Tina Turner was my favourite. Saw her in concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in the 1980s. I was near the front...and in awe of her voice....and her thighs! RIP the Ent Cent & RIP Tina! Tina will live on forever!
It was an Aussie that resurrected Tina's career and she even became an ambassador for our NRL football and became loved by average Aussies. She spent lot's of time here and got to know many of our singers.

1992. What a year. This was such an amazing anthem for Rugby League. Catchy, uplifting, inspiring, I don't think I have ever heard a single Aussie ever diss this song. And of course 1992 was the first time my team won the grand final. COME ON BRONCOS!!!! This year for sure!!!!
Yep, I agree, the male and female equivalent of each other. They bring out the best of each other. Diesel solo guitar in his own right. Great guitarist, 'only the best'!
just love how they look so happy that is soul music
Tina Turner was my favourite. Saw her in concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in the 1980s. I was near the front...and in awe of her voice....and her thighs! RIP the Ent Cent & RIP Tina! Tina will live on forever!
Jimmy was so nervous doing this duet, Tina turned around to him and said "don't worry honey I'll make you look good"
It was an Aussie that resurrected Tina's career and she even became an ambassador for our NRL football and became loved by average Aussies. She spent lot's of time here and got to know many of our singers.
I really love this. This is a dream pairing. Tina and Jimmy are amazing together. Their voices complement each other. You can see how much they like each other too, great rapport. I think you can tell Jimmy's a really nice guy. Yes and Diesel is there too. I reckon Tina had a good time when she was in Australia.
Jimmy Barnes and Tina Turner are the most absolutely perfect combination it is possible to imagine, and they bounce off each other as they take it to the next level. It is obvious too that Tina is loving finding a voice that can match her in every way. Their musical chemistry is simply amazing. Truly the best!
I’m really glad you talked about people say Jimmy’s screaming, he’s not but he certainly has got that gravel in his voice that I love to hear. 🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
Mate when the restrictions are all over, you obviously have to come to Oz to do a doco on all your favourite Aussie artists!!
This is awesome 👍👍 I haven't heard this duet for ages, still love it 🎶🎸🎶🎸🎶🎸
I've fortunate enough to see Jimmy Barnes live, the man's incredible 💖👍🎶💖👍🎶
This song has ALWAYS been my fav of Tinas’, for all these years since she released
it. But oh my good god!! The chemistry between these two is phenomenal!! Crazy!
What a wonderful gift I have received tonight! ❤️🔥 to discover a new joy..I thank you
from my soul!! Peace and Joy. ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Jimmy is still performing and touring. He is a great singer and an amazing person.
Mark Lizotte aka Diesel is an American-born Australia singer-songwriter and guitar legend who also happens to be a brother-in-law to Jane & Jimmy Barnes. I can only imagine how the music and lyrics would be pumping when this vastly talented family gets together…there ain’t no second prize as they’re all…it’s right on the tip of my tongue…Brilliant!!!!
Hi from Sydney Australia loving the programs and your reactions are very enjoyable to witness.👏👏👏
I had to comment on your comment about the two being the male, female version of each other because your so true. I'm glad to see your excitement and enthusiasm towards some of our greatest cheers, The Good Lord has shared some phenomenal beings. 🙏🇦🇺
Thank you for your comment ❤️

Driving wheels, Jimmy classic. Pure oz rock. Chisel live was fantastic
One person you should check out is John Swan of Swanee in "Temporary heartbreak" and "If I was a carpenter. John Swan is Jimmy Barnes' older brother. He has a powerful voice as well. Well worth a listen!!
And Lady What’s Your Name! 😃💕
@@cathybedwell1877 yes totally, I loved the band way back in the day, still do!!
And Diesel is his brother-in-law if I’m not wrong!
Matthew and sail away are even better vocal performances from Swanee
Wow wow wow…. Amazing power rock voices
This REACT is the best. Love it 🥰 Love Tina, Jimmy and Johnny ❣️
Tina Turner will forever and always have a very special place in Australians hearts. From her manager being Australian to what she did for our sport of rugby league. She will always be an honorary Aussie.
Lol when you squeeze that water bottle yesssssssa best reaction love from oz,n well done you saw johnny❤
Brings back great memories this song. The pinnacle of Australian Rugby league . Tina became the voice of the league during the Winfield cup and it was only natural to get an Aussie legend like Jimmy to jump in on this great song. What a great time it was
Man, this video is giving me so much joy today.
RIP Tina 😢
Just Brilliant!! Loved it so much.
I find it adorably ironic that the name of _Tip Of My Tongue_ was on the tip of yours talking about it. Love this version of the song. You're 100% right, their voices are like the male and female version of each other.
Thank you for your comment ❤️
How are you doing?
It’s nice meeting you here.
I love your enthusiasm, it says it all. Coolness personified.😁
There’s a video titled: Child chisel - “bow river”. If you haven’t seen it I’d be doing myself a favour and getting my lookers on that asap
Bow River...one of my favourites
That's good old Diesel on the guitar

First time hearing this, what a dynamic duo and your right they are the male/female version of each other.

This is rock royalty Oz style - Tina has a big connection with Australia - starring role in one of the Mad Max movies ‘Beyond Thunderdome’.
