• [720p50] John Farnham ...
Live at the Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia. June 15th, 2003.
Every Aussie here was just waiting for your faces when he started that third verse in that ridiculous high pitch!! And you didn’t disappoint 🤣
Not only the Aussies haha- Germans too!
@@baumi-metal9123 oh yay I’m so glad to hear it!! ❤️
Omg just stop. You don't need to comment on EVERY aussie arist reaction. Damn know it all. Give it a rest
And Suzie's full body shiver at 2:29 said it all an bout the power of this man's voice.
@@baumi-metal9123 Guten Tag brother
John is not only The Voice, he is The Gift. ❤️
A beautiful man with one of the greatest voices in the world. He is amazing. So proud to be Australian 🇦🇺❤❤❤
I have PTSD and im waiting for a service dog myself. Im in tears listening to this and seeing your faces light up.
This man is a living legend . Now you have some idea why he is so loved in Australia . He has had his ups and downs , so have we all . He is us !!
Beautifully put, man. You made me tear up with "He is us!!" Perfect and so true.
I'm 50+yo & grew up going to over 20+ Melbourne concerts....these videos Don't do his real voice justice....His voice will 'vibrate' thru your body when you're there...& even 2hrs after you get home You can Still feel Him....He's Gold!!!!
You'll never find a greater singer than John Farnham!
Elvis fans would disagree.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425
Elvis fans wouldn't know their arse from their elbow.
Cheers!
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 with respect....I am a massive Elvis fan....and I know that he never had the range that John Farnham had....and still has, even in his 70s.
@@micko11154 you can’t say anyone is the best. I’m an Aussie Farnham fan, he’s brilliant, but not everyone has to agree with you. I bet even John would tell you that. He’s a huge Stevie Wonder fan as I guess you know.
@@karlenemacdonald6549 and you are telling me this instead of micko11154 maybe? or maybe the other Elvis fans. settle down. All I did was write Elvis fans would disagree.
When he's gone, it will be like loosing a family member, Australia golden, funny, talented, just a beautiful human being
This comment hits WAY harder today. And you're absolutely correct.
I never get teary at the news of celebrities passing, but when I heard John Farnham was going in for surgery to remove a cancer, I nearly lost the plot.
My god I did this before he got ill, it's scary!!!
And so ridiculously brilliant ... that's why we all love him
I dread that day. He is a national treasure.
If you didn't get it, you now get why we Aussie's call John, The Voice. He is the GOAT!!!! 💯🎼🎵❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Ive watched so many reactions to JF and I'd have to say yours is THE BEST. As an Aussie we have this immense sense of pride about John and how truly amazing and talented he is, and i for one am so happy that others can get to enjoy him toom
Proud Aussie here, that is one of the finest voices ever to be a voice
Finest.
The
Voice
❤ ❤m❤
He’s brilliant. Those pipes. He is currently battling cancer, and we may never hear him sing again as he had part of his jaw removed. Thankful we have so much of his incredible music to listen to forever. . 🙏🏼
Can only send him all our love and hope our love will get him thru this bad time
At 59 years old I am an old classic rocker, and I play the drums and guitar. But watching you guys brings me joy as you endeavor onto new genres which I love. John Farnham is unbelievable and I’m sad to say it’s only in the last year that I have ever heard of him. He should’ve been a world treasure.
That guys voice is sublime. He sure can hit some notes.
Even better live with no tech. assistance.
Really, really hope that John Farnham can pull though after the massive cancer operation on his mouth a few days ago. As an Australian, it has been more recently that I have come to appreciate this man much more than I did when I was younger. Watching the world discover his talent has given me some pause for thought. It is amazing how as humans we always seem to fall into the trap of not understanding what we have until there is a threat that we might lose it. Let's hope John has many more years ahead of him although given the extent of his recent surgery there is a very real possibility that he may never be able to sing again.
Amen xx
This is definetly one of his best live performence. It shows his vocal range to the very limit of his capacity. Mr 110 %
I absolutely love your faces when you hear him sing the really high notes...John Farnham is just the best singer - we love him here down under.
6:12 "How can I go home and not get blown away" - and how can you listen to Farnsey singing that and not get *blown away* ! was a jaw-dropper for Suzi!
John did tour overseas for our troops who were involved in a conflict in Timor....He did a number of concerts for the troops...When he sang this there wasn't a dry eye to be seen....so bloody emotional...All that any solider going to war is thinking is ... "How can I go home and not get blown away" Appreciate your 'reaction' and the words you shared about this song. Sending you love from Australia
I went to East Timor in 2008 to Camp Phoenix, the Australian. Amp. They were still talking about the performance. Lots of other females, along side myself, were very appreciative.
@@jaymills6091 There are a few video's around when John went to Timor I think there is one with Kylie Minogue too...I'll have try to find them and post it here for you. 💖 I found this one which moved me greatly. 1999. John sings 'You'll Never Walk Alone' at the end of a speech from the then, Colonel Cosgrove. Enjoy 💗
@@justlinsu appreciate that.
@@justlinsu is love to see them, too, if you can find them.
Whenever John sings it just gets ya right in the feels. So much emotion. He is a legend. The GOAT
John never gives anything less than 110%. The emotion and the story telling just flow like honey from his soul.
I don't think anyone's ever sung with such power and control with (what looks like) so little effort. Look at how far back he needs to hold the microphone when he goes all in!
John was 53 here - his voice is incredible. He's 72 now and still sings in the same key for most of his tracks, he does give himself a break and sing descending inflections sometimes but knowing him he could still hit them if he wanted to.
100% yes. I've been researching this (as I wouldn't know by ear) but he's belting E5 in this song. Tenor high E. 😱
From what I've read, his recorded full range is A2 through G5.
Geeze I didn't realise he wasn't that old. Mind you im nearly 60. And I saw John the first time before I had my son who is 31 now. Forget We are all getting on.
You need the version of John and Jimmy singing this song together, absolutely sensational 💕💕
100% 🇦🇺♥️
I’m getting teary and goosebumps just listening to John. Wish you a speedy recovery John you absolute Aussie legend 🇦🇺🦘
Love her reaction from 5:40 onwards, i swear i could see some tears.........I love their reactions.....John is a true blue Aussie legend and his voice is a massive part of our culture, watching this brings a lump to my throat knowing what Farnsy would be going through right now, thoughts and prayers for the great man for a full recovery.
I love watching Americans react to this video. Having first hearing him in the 60"s, I am not surprised by his performance. I am still in awe and totally entranced, but not surprised.
His supporting vocalists are singers in their own right. His band are amazing, he holds his audience in the palm of his hand. Glad you enjoyed!
No shortage of Aussie talent. I remember John Farnham from 1971 and he's a true icon here. Lovely bloke too, the spitting image of one of my brothers and some cousins!
Even after all these years here in Aus listening to John, I got goosebumps same time as you. Can you imagine a live concert? They are brilliant. And he’s even sung opera, with comedy added, .
his range and style is WoW. Yes you’d swear he’d been to war, the passion he puts into the song, yes your spot on what u said Re war veterans.
Your faces said it all! What a voice he has - and in his 50s at that time. What a treasure - thank you for showing his talent to your audience.
John Farnham, what can I say? He's "The Voice" the pride of Australia. We love you John. If you enjoy listening to Steve Williams on the harmonica, listen to John Farnham Chain Reaction live.
I listen to heavy music and death metal mostly, but great music is great music, regardless of genre. I love that you are open to every kind of music. ❤ All these songs about war and veterans make me tear up too. 😢
Whilst everyone along with John were absolutely fantastic, can I pay a big 👏 to the awesome guitar performance of Brett Garsed, that classic riff at the end of this was so cool! 👍
One of Australia's national treasures!
He’s not Australian.. he’s English!
John is a great great live singer. Everybody has to be top notch to get on the stage with John Farnham, and they are.
We Love John , Feels he has always been in my life , what a talent and a great human being LEGEND !
John has been diagnosed with oral cancer and underwent an 11 hour surgery last week, he in ICU recovering after the surgery to remove a tumour and part of his jaw and reconstruction surgery. He is our Australian icon who is so loved, all of Australia is praying for him to have a quick recovery ❤️🩹
Most brilliant Aussie voice every! Technically perfect
John is a masterful singer, probably the greatest Australia has to offer.
IMHO, he's also one of the greatest from anywhere!
I spent an afternoon with him many years ago and can tell you he's a really nice guy too.
New to to your channel. You guys are so humble. The joy on your faces reacting to Aussie legends, is heart warming as a fellow Aussie.
I was at this concert it was brilliant.
Suzie's reaction at 6:18 is one of the most genuine things I've seen on RUclips. Just beautiful.
Our very own John Farnham singing When The War Is Over is the best version ever. It’s even better when you are sitting in that audience to listen to him live. I was blessed to see him 10 time’s live! He’s simply the best & The Voice! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ this reaction. There’s lots more to come from Mr. John Farnham.
Damn
Hands down the best male vocalist… Ever
John Farnham is The Voice
John has sung this song so many times and I think this was the best version. So much passion.
Interesting facts.
The back up singer Danielle Gaha's mother, was one of the dancers on Johns First hit single. She was pregnant with Danielle at the time.
His regular back up singer Lisa Edwards was absent from this tour as she had just had a baby herself..
You teared me up with your interpretation of the veterans experience. Bless you
This is my favorite version of this beautiful, classic cold chisel song. John just puts so much emotion in to it.
we are all praying for John as he recovers from his operation due to cancer.
I was in the audience for this concert. Seeing it in person was amazing. Unforgettable
He truly IS great. His greatness as an all-round entertainer is incomparable. When in the audience he connects with us - as though we are, each one of us, chatting with him at a small gathering. He is endearingly irreverent and humbly INCREDIBLE. He brings laughter with (really good!!) jokes, banter with the band, stories and anecdotes - he almost magically creates an intimate and warm atmosphere in even the largest arenas. Then there are the powerfully authentic performances from every member of the band. A John Farnham concert is an experience, a gift to one's soul. Honestly, he gives so much of himself it's breathtaking. And the songs so often have powerfully moving and uplifting themes which he conveys with heartbreaking candour through his unmatchable, beautiful voice, and immeasurable soulfulness. THIS is his greatness. I'm so grateful to have experienced it live. I'm so happy that there are these recordings of him doing his magic for the World to see and hear. Thank you both for sharing this, and thank you Mr John Farnham.
John going gospel in his songs is the best feeling ever.
And yet again, John give a shoutout for his band members.
This song gets to me every time I hear it. 💕
yep, me too
Absolutely beautiful song...John Farnham is amazing, seen him 3 times live. Great reaction, I love it when you watch people overseas fall in love with this man. And his band is a tight knit group of amazing performers. 💕🇦🇺
Johnny loves his fans and loves to belt it!
Only thing I can say is: one of the greatest singers ever. Love him.
Great song performed by a great man!
Goosebumps. Just love your faces thankyou
Thank you so much for gifting these awesome video's clips. I grew up with this phenomenal music, and you forget just how many amazing talented vocalists we have in Australia. Generations of talent, that have given us songs that will live in our hearts and history forever. I am so proud to be Australian. ❤
Love the sincerity of your reaction. Isn't this just the best performance ever? Live? Beyond heartfelt. Superb. So glad you guys have seen this. You can see that John totally believes this song and gives his soul to it. Gives me chills. John honours the lyrics.
Thanks so much for your recreation his our best singer in Australia and many others too.
This is a Cold Chisel classic and John hits it out of the park.
Can you believe this singer has never ever had a singing or coaching lesson,he is a natural talent and world class at that, just brilliant. Aussie Lyn his biggest fan.
Thanks for doing this one. I've missed for Farnsey reactions.
I have seen this and listened to this a hundred times... And it still hits my soul like it's the first time! That is some performance. 🥰
His backing band was more talented than the top 10 spotify songs of today combined.
I can’t believe you haven’t done John Farnham singing Help (oks Beatles tune) with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra!
Fixed that. 😀
lady wolf hunter,. the visual rollercoaster of emotion from your facial expressions really brought it home for me.
Great reaction and one of the greatest singers ever 👏
Roy Orbison, Tom Jones and John Farnham. Four octave singing voices.
And at 73 or 74 years of age he can still belt it out like this… granted might need a nana nap afterwards ….. John is the ultimate and every song he sings he sings with convictions straight from his core….
We haven’t heard John sing since Covid, we have no idea what he sounds like now. I often wonder if he’s sang a note since the grief of loosing his best friend and manager not long ago.
@@bernadettelanders7306 He sang with Olivia a few months ago.
@@grievesy83 when and where? I could be wrong I thought last time they sang together was about 2020.
@@bernadettelanders7306 I think you're right and I'm mistaken - I must have misunderstood the news report.
The boy done it good. In fact UNBELIEVABLE.
Wow, thank you so much guys, what an awesome story about the soldier it really makes this song even more poignant for me to really think about the background, it's not only a beautiful ballad to listen to but has a deep meaning behind it. Another thing is that the same goes for many people battling hard knocks in life, like wounded warriors and coming out the other side a changed person, never the same again, but with all those mixed emotions.
The reaction at 5:36 is the appropriate response to John Farnham showing you why his is The Voice. He usually gives you a little look that says "here it comes bitches" before he blows you away. In Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, he gives a little smile. Here there is a little look before he unleashes. His Black Dog sound check is out of this world. For me, this is the best version of When the War is Over by Cold Chisel.
I have been listening to John Farnham since the 60's when his first hit was SADIE (The Cleaning Lady), he also fronted Little River Band in the early 80's. His career sort of declined after that but when he released his album 'Whispering Jack' in the middle to late 80's his career took off again - it was a fantastic album which has the no 1 hit 'Your The Voice' (which you have already covered). Another point of interest is that his Manager at the time of the release of Whispering Jack was Glenn Wheatley who was a bass player in the late 60's & early 70's for a great Aussie Band called the Masters Apprentices. Wheatley mortgaged his home to finance the recording of Whispering Jack - what a bloke!!
Johns not been doing to well as of late, everyone wishes him well and a speedy recovery.
Top 3 singers ever. His range and power IS OUT OF THIS FUCKING WORLD
He was born in England. Came to Australia when he was very young. He calls himself an Aussie. So do we. A world class singer.
Thanks for the reaction guys!
They are all older here, and when you've followed them and him all your life, it makes me cry
😭 beautiful reaction to our beautiful man thank you
What a voice… 😮
The world miss out on John Farnham’s talent.
We could never work out why the rest of the world didn't love him the way we did.
because Simon Cowell and his bunch of groovy accountants and MTV have other plans.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 it was way before Simon's time...but maybe you're on the right track
USA charts are pigeonholed they didn’t no where to categorised John Farnham . After John left the Little River Band John was exhausted and homesick of touring America. Manager Glenn Wheatley said in interview; John told him please don’t make me successful in the USA when John’s solo career took off again in the late 80’s .
@@rickandersen2284 it was written mostly for artists these days with talent. I think you know where I am going with the comment.
Your right didn’t make any sense at all
Best concert I've ever seen was John's. Met him at our local airport and he is the most down to earth guy you could meet
Johns "Last Time' tour in melbourne was my first ever concert as a 16yr old. My sister and I were dancing and singing in the isles - John is incredible! He is unwell and underwent surgery on his throat recently :(
I think this performance is my all time favorite of his and to think he's in his 50s here and better than ever.
John Farnham is the consummate entertainer; whether it is rock or ballad, he can make you feel the song.
Love this being Australian & has man been to war this song means a lot.
God I love you two!!! You really know and appreciate talent regardless the Genre. Love and blessing from Michigan!!
No one can belt like this man can
Something not known by many is that John Farnham & Queen have been mates for many years dating back to when they met when John was a support act for them in their Australian & New Zealand leg of their 1978 World Tour. After Freddie died & when Brian May was re-forming Queen, John was the 1st singer they contacted to lead them. Although he recorded a few songs with them, he decided that he was a bit old to go touring around. They are all still mates now & it was actually John's manager Glenn Wheatley who suggested they contact Adam Lambert because he knew Adam & his management.
Wow love the look on your faces. Whenever I hear this version I love it. Then I hear Ian Moss & Barnsey with Cold Chisel & I love it too. Awesome song writing & both are different but bloody brilliant versions. Great reaction 💕
Love watching everyones John Farnham reactions and seeing your reactions to this song is great. His voice is so amazing.
Although... there are more of his live songs out there better than this, that really showcase his voice, but im sure you will get to them 😀
I look forward to them.
ERMERGERD! I love that this is 'old man' John Farnham! His voice legit got better and better! He will always be 'the voice'!
He is a BEAST in a good way❤. One of my favorite songs by him
What a beautiful commentary, you had me in tears. So good.
Your reflection on war veterans in relation to this song is spot on. This song is about the devastating impacts of war, and that no matter what, nobody is going to steal this heart away.
I have watched many reactions on this concert, so far you guys are at the top of the list, great job!
I've been waiting for you guys to do this one, one of my all time favourites.. John is just sublime 😍 👌 I still think this beats the cold chisel version hands down!!!
I agree with you 💯
Yeah I think John's version is a lot more emotional and way better.
