    I would recommend arranging things like in the supermarkets. That is, putting the "on use" item in the front and the new ones behind in a row. Eunice is a visual person. Putting stuff in the back, even if they are in a clear bin, won't work as you expect it. She has to reduce the amount of stuff she has, not overall number of items but each type of cluster. For example, if she uses five laundry products, she has to keep only two or three so the organization will be easier and everything will be able to get displayed.

      I agree. Products should be lined up with the labels facing forward with the open product in front & unopened similar product behind it 😊.

    It would be helpful if they stopped buying in bulk. Bulk only works if you have a huge pantry or closet to store them. The apartment is very nice, but the excess of items is drowning the space. Thankfully you are helping your friend.

    You did really good with the space! It's an awkward layout with the recycling bins blocking the door, but your solution does seem to be the smarter one for the space! I would suggest putting all the devices documents inside a closed waterproof bin, just to protect them from possible water damage... i have had leaking sinks more often than not xD anyway, can't wait to see how the rest of the space unfolds!!

    Bulk buying works for people who live far from stores, who aren’t good at noticing when something is about to run out, and sometimes for money saving (not always). I like to have one backup for things that I can’t live without and where I don’t want to try out different brands (TP, sugar). For something like deodorant or peanut butter I don’t think we need backups. It’s easy to see when you only have a week’s worth left and put it on the shopping list. If I lived in a big city like you I wouldn’t stock up on much.

    One of the problems with deep cabinets is when you take out something in the back, you knock over things in the front. So after using it, people tend to shove that back item in the front which begins messing it up. She can use shoe boxes or Amazon boxes or make a box that acts as a container to put things in. Then you pull out the whole "drawer" and can get at everything easily...plus you are spending any money.

  • @dianegriffen2756

    I would put the tape back in the drawer you found it! That's a good spot for the paperwork, but I would absolutely put it into something that's waterproof!

  • @Nat073

    If those trash cans separate could you put them on the counter? Then it wouldn’t block the cabinet door and it’ll prevent clutter from building up on the counters.

    Could the recycling bins be hung on the wall above the counter beside the washer? I have little metal brackets that fit under the lip of my blueboxes and they work great in the garage. Gets things off the floor and yet would still be accessible.

  • @EmOrganizer
    @EmOrganizer 8 месяцев назад +1

    Nice seeing your decluttering process! I’m like you, I don’t want to have a lot of bulky bottles of detergent or hand soap in stock. I think I would have tried to move the recycling bins in front of the cupboard, right next to the kitchen. It’s a shame to ‘lose’ the shelving space in that cupbaord, but not having easy access to the sink would drive me crazy I think. And then putting the documentation and the stock of the cleaning supplies on those shelves (behind the bins). And only singular bottles of the things that are in use either under the sink or one or two bottles on top of the workspace. But it all depends on what works for the client. I agree that ‘out of sight’ might be a problem for many clients. Good job!

    How great to have a dedicated laundry room in an apartment! Is that common in S. Korea? I am planning to create one out of the front part of my bathroom. I can't believe how much stuff there was in that laundry room, especially the many plastic bottles;-)) Are there places in S. Korea where you can refill cleaning products so you don't create so much plastic waste? I get buying so many bottles at a time if you live in the country far away from shops, but not in the city. That being said, my mother used to buy 5 of everything despite having shops just around the corner;-))

      @@SpaceMakerMethod I live in Germany and many of the organic food stores and zero-waste stores have refillables for liquid cleaning products, and now the drugstore chains like DM and Rossmann as well as some supermarkets have those cleaning product tablets you dissolve in water and put in the bottles you already have. You can buy them online as well, along with reusable spray bottles (or squeeze bottles for toilet cleaner) if you don't have your own.

    • @0570dev
      @0570dev 8 месяцев назад +1

      Same. Also I think it makes way more sense to store the manuals on the shelf down at the right. That way the washing liquid can be stored under the sink. It's way easier to have an overall view of all products that are left in that cupboard. On the shelf at the right Eunice won't be able to see and reach for everything in there. She'll probably shove more things in there, as she tends to hoard. Just my opinion.

I did not buy things in bulk when we lived in an apartment because we didn't have the space.

    It was funny to watch you acknowledge the fact that if something is out of sight out of mind for her, but then pushing cleaning spray bottles aaaaall the way back where they can’t even be seen 😂 I think tape maybe could go to the office and cleaning bottles more in the front? Also I think it would be beneficial to use that wall space, as well as cabinet doors. I know you said no new organizers, but I feel it would help her find stuff easier, when it’s spread out. I’m the same way and as soon as I started using my bathroom wall space (upwards), I don’t have the same issue of forgetting anymore what I have. I’m too lazy to reach in the back and forget to even look there.

    • @wellhello1603

      Or at least maybe the cleaners and swiffers can sit on the countertop next to the sink. It’s not too much to look messy or take up a lot of space, but it’s the thing they would reach a lot and it’s easier to grab from the counter.

    Sorry if this is irrelevant by the end of the video lol, I'm at 12:24 and you're discussing possibly putting overstock into the cabinet behind the recycling, but Eunice will forget about it and buy more. At work, I have considered a system where I write on the containers with sharpie: "You have 3 more!", "You have 2 more!" etc, so every time one of us wonders about inventory, we know immediately if we have enough laundry pods or boxes of tissues. The person who checks inventory and asks our boss for more items is a frazzled woman who tends to run all over the place asking everyone if we have certain items, so I've put alot of thought into how to make it all foolproof and streamlined 🤪😂

    Hi Izzy's mom & friend 😁. April & Eunice.
    What about if items must be separated or if there are more than one & the shelf/drawer is deep, put a half sheet of note paper taped at the bottom of the shelf/drawer stating the count. For example,( in red marker) Downey 4, Percsil 3, etc.
    My family doesn't read the amazing, beautiful labels I love. So I gave up & hand wrote an inventory. And yes I still make labels for me.

    I was thinking how much space was saved simply by putting like with like - I do know items went elsewhere - but still - you managed to fit most of what was in the laundry back into the cupboards.
    A note - that I saw a doohickey which holds open a front loading washing machine door - just enough to let air in without having to open the door all the way so it looks messy.

      I never buy in bulk. Bulk is not always cheaper, and if I have to throw away old and unusuable stuff, it is even more expensive.
      With items like tape, detergents, dish soap, windshield cleaner etc. that last for over 1 month I have it "One in use, one in store." If the item in use is used up, I buy one new and take the stored item into use: one in use, one in store again.
      On the other side, I'm prepared with food for cats and hoomans, water, toilet paper etc. for at least 2 weeks like the government is recommending. They say 10 days, but 2 weeks are on the safer side. This year we had a few floodings in Germany, where shops were unaccessible or destroyed for days.
