I think my favorite thing about this company is repurposing the luggage for kids in foster care. We had so many foster children come to our house with just a grocery bag or trash bag and that’s all. It’s such a demoralizing experience. While a suitcase may not seem like a big deal to most people, it can be such a huge thing for a child in foster care!
As a former foster kid this hits home. Thank you!
@@yourrealjourney379 my family did foster care for almost 10 years and made sure that when any kid left our home, no matter how long they stayed, they left with a car full of things and their own bags that were actual bags and not trash bags.
Really? I’m a foster parent and our agency doesn’t allow children to have their belongings in trash bags anymore.
@@amykane9938 maybe it’s different per agency, but that was also like 8 years ago or more lol, we haven’t done care in a long time.
@@amykane9938 that makes me so happy to hear though! They deserve more than a trash bag!
I appreciate resisting the urge to open that box for TWO years, that dedication is unmatched 🙌
For real!! God bless you in the name of Jesus Christ, who is the name above all names & the only way to Heaven❤
It it was me I would have at least opened the box to see what was on top. 😊
I would have put it aside and lost it in those two years.
I couldn’t have done it!
When you have packages sent all the time, it loses its appeal unfortunately. I have a habit of not opening packages and missing the return window. 🫠
4:00 What I don't love about this, is that I know airlines often DON'T try very hard to reunite people with their luggage. They say that they do, but they don't. My husband's was lost at one point, when he left town for work as a federal officer. He called for three days, with a description of the bag, with his name written on it in huge letters, and they said they couldn't find it. He said it contained sensitive contents, so he would have to launch and investigation, and they reiterated there was nothing they could do.
So he sends one of his co-workers to pay a visit to the airport. He uses some of his contacts to get in there to look for the bag, and he found it immediately.
As per usual, airlines are the worst, and all I could think of when you were reading that description was the people who no doubt tried very hard to get their suitcase back, and did not get any meaningful assistance at all.
Yeah im kind of surprised theres not more comments about this tbh. I love that they donate the “unclaimed” bags but ive also heard LOTS of stories about how airlines just dont care at all to help people who have lost their luggage. Very unfortunate for people who lose their stuff but I suppose if it were me id rather it be donated than be thrown away /:
This is unfortunately very true. Not just for luggage though. When I was 14 or so, I accidentally left my nearly brand new iPod Touch in the back of the seat in front of me. I realised within minutes of getting off the plane. We turned around and went right back and spoke to one of the staff members there. It was a gift from my older sister which she had purchased using one of her first paychecks so it was super special. The staff member advised us that there was nothing she could do and to contact lost and found. Guess what never showed up in lost and found.
Singapore Airlines. I expected way better.
My little sister was so upset she cried for hours (she was 12 at the time).
@@jasmines3554I got SO lucky with this. I was flying to a Greek island with my bf and friend. I put my phone down on the seat to sort my bag out and forgot it. When we started queuing up for passport control I was panicking and using my bfs phone to call it / put it into lost mode. Long story short I managed to get it back via the Greek airport 😭
Some of these items are stolen or taken by other passengers as well.
@@jasmines3554 man that sucksss they truly dgaf...id be devastated
As someone who lived in foster homes when they were younger, the fact that they give suitcases to kids in foster care is amazing. I used to carry all of my clothes in a book bag that had a big tear in it and the zipper wouldn't close properly so having a nice suitcase like that would have been a blessing.
Also, I have those same earbuds. they are amazing! There is also an app that you download where you can customize your hearing experience, and if you cover up one earbud (or long press) on it, you can make them block out noise or hear ambient noises around you.
Wow I didn't know that about the earbuds. Recently one of mine is duller..softer. maybe I accidentally long pressed it. I thought I broke it n was going to get another set
Former airline employee here- best advice is to always print our your flight itinerary (also helps to have hotel info) with your name and contact info and place it so it’s the FIrST thing that is seen when someone opens your suitcase. Yes all the trackers are good but this is an old school method my colleagues found the most helpful esp if straps broke off
This should have more upvotes!
@@brittanyg6796 thanks! It’s really so simple, takes two seconds, and can save a lot of hassle!
I just commented something like this! My mom bought some luggage from Unclaimed baggage a few years back, and when we got home we found what we think was the owner's info in one of the pockets! So now we put our information where it can be seen easily, as soon as you open the bag. Doesn't seem like airlines care to look after the luggage tag falls off.
I do this when traveling out of the country but it's great for anywhere!
This🙌 I was also told to take a picture of the inside of your suit case of your items
A minute of appreciation for Mia's hair please. Still not used to short hair and GOSH is that styled perfectly!
hard agree!! I LOVE Mia's short hair🥰
It really does look adorable !!!
love this style
Mia always looks adorable but really loving this style on her. She is too darn cute
Yes for real but I also liked it when she cut it herself and it was just a straight long bob. It was so chic and cvnt lol ❤
I look at it this way: Balenciaga did not receive any money from you, for this bag. So I feel like if you were to purchase something from them, this (or any second hand store) is the way to go!
But why even represent them? 🤮
@@jackiebunting4000she didn't?
Seeing unclaimed baggage in videos still blows my mind because I grew up right behind it! I went to highschool with the woman who did the virtual baggage experience!! What is the world 😳 I live on the west coast now and somehow that little shop I used to go to all the time as a kid and teen is now showing up in my sub box from so many creators!
That’s cool! 😀
Same!! I’m from scottsboro 😁
In the US often kids are left using garbage bags when moving in and out of foster care, It was so sweet to hear about them giving back to the community
This blows my mind that the amount of money that a foster parent gets for the child and yet they are moved like hobos. I can understand when they are taken from the toxic home initially and they are trying to get out of there w/ some stuff...but from foster to foster should be looked into when the foster parent is not spending money on the childs needs.
@@angelarthrasheragreed! I’m pretty sure I heard a story where a woman called her foster kids her “little paychecks” 😢💔
Yes I like that idea too!
Same with Canada...you get a garbage bag or nothing
I remember watching a documentary on children going to foster care and I cried when I saw their belongings put into trash bags. It's traumatic enough in the first place, I imagined them feeling like everything they owned was being treated like garbage. 😢
I like this concept. Honestly if I ever lost my luggage I would prefer it to go to an organization like this than into a land fill.
Personally, I would prefer to get my stuff back.
I'd rather get my stuff back instead of stolen and sold to youtubers :/
Same
This comment is not about Mia, but these airlines…This lost luggage selling business made by airlines is giving me thief vibes. Maybe 20-30 years ago it was the only option, but now, when practically the whole world uses internet, they could have found a way for people to find their luggage. Maybe some app with photos of bags or something like that. Everybody I know, who ever lost their luggage, wanted them back. I know a girl, who cried for almost 2 weeks about her lost personal items. It may look nice, that some items are given as a charity, but really this was not approved by owner of the luggage. I would better give dollars for charity and not my bag
Yeah like send everyone a message who was on that flight to see if they lost luggage and then the flyer just has to tell them a description. I'm sure there could be something they could come up with that would be time efficient and not difficult.
I mean how does luggage get lost, it gets put on a plane and then taken off...
@@dizzyzizzy8075 yeah i agree. I think luggage can be lost if it just doesn't get on the plane or with lay-overs especially. But if it's a direct flight, then they just ave to look through the luggage still at the airport?
Agreeeeeeeeee
I hate that RUclipsrs like safiya and Mia are basically promoting these people, it's so icky. Like airlines love just stealing luggage and claiming it's lost even when it's federally protected; there was a comment about a federal officer trying to get his bag back because there were sensitive documents in there and he had to call other people to finally find the bag. Like it's just so messed up and I'm not sure this is the most ethical thing to promote when just like you said we have all this technology to find the owners of these bags.
girl the fact that it took TWO YEARS is crazy, but seeing your energy and honesty for every product made the wait completely worth everything
Not me hoping the whole time if someone who watches this video ends up recognizing something they lost. How amazing would that be?
Same! I always feel so bad for the people who lost their things but hope that videos can help them get their back
I asked that as well.
like "hey!, that's my Balenciaga! how do I get it back?!"
But it might just be too late at that point ☹️
Loved the part where she is impressed about how the ear buds stop working or pause when you touch them like how innocent and cute and excited she looks discovering it😭
It totally reminded me of when my Son bought me earbuds a few years ago. I kept turning them off by mistake or would just turn one off accidentally. I didn't think I'd ever get used to them. I'm an old lady but I've now adapted to them 😂
Lol same! That was great 🤣
I was impressed too, i have never used ear buds so i don't know how thry work😅
I used to work in Huntsville, AL, which is just down the road from where Unclaimed Baggage is. Their e-commerce items are likely a selected fraction of what comes in. Good but visibly worn stuff goes into the main store, and the unsellable items (underwear, perscriptions, broken, very worn) have to be recycled or trashed.
My roommate currently works for Goodwill, and they have similar process: e-commerce for the best, in-store for usable items, and recycle/trash for the rest. E-commerce takes extra work - photography, payment processing, packing and shipping. So it only makes sense for higher-value items.
man that's disappointing though, because if i'm shopping online it's because i can't find what i need locally. like, i don't care if they're "visibly worn," i just need some pants for my kids for a couple bucks. but my local goodwill doesn't have his size and all the stuff online is $10-15. what else am i supposed to do to clothe my kid without a lot of money?
All the flying I’ve done, (grew up a military kid with extended family at LEAST 1000 miles away, often in a whole other country), it’s amazing I’ve never had lost luggage, though the military shipping company did lose an entire crate of my family’s household goods once when we moved overseas.
My mom only had lost luggage once, and it did arrive on a later flight so they called her and an airline employee even delivered it to her house, awesome service.
Anyway, if I did lose luggage and it couldn’t find me for whatever reason, the thought of my items being enjoyed by someone else is much more palatable than thinking about my stuff in a landfill!
Can I just say as a plus size fan it is really nice to see a giveaway that isn’t clothing or size based. I know you try your hardest to get a variety of sizes, but the giveaway being a bag really makes it more universal. Love it!!
Except that crossbody wont work on an obese person.
@@Lemonade_Stand_fold the strap in half and wear it on the shoulder, something a lot of people already do with those bags!
I appreciate that too!
@@Lemonade_Stand_ Well, then loose some weight and don't expect other people to cater to your personal issues.
Probably wouldnt work on your big ass @@Lemonade_Stand_
“Sometimes listening to music is a vulnerable moment!” I’ve never heard that feeling put into words and it’s perfect😂 I used to live 20 minutes away from Unclaimed Baggage so I went there several times. Such a cool place!!
Yes! I have trouble listening to my music with others for this reason. I appreciate people who always want the aux so I don't have to feel so exposed.
It feels kinda weird that they’re using these unclaimed items to gain profits and most of the items are still very expensive compared to the original price. I think it would be better if the prices were significantly lower or if they just donated everything to shelters or foster homes
They did mention they have to purchase the luggage and there are operating costs to a company
@@brittany8364 Simply being a business doesn’t make it more ethical, necessary, nor wanted
Just one second, I think it's very much the airlines job, but also putting your name and info inside and on your bag is so important for stuff like this!
It's really nice to see them giving these items a new life! With overconsumption these days, too much ends up in the landfills 😢
I think everyone agrees when I say that we appreciate that even after two years you still didn’t give up on the video and always being so transparent with us 💕
I loooove your energy lately Mia
I really learned so much from this video. Thanks for posting it Mia!!
Omg thank you so much for bringing up what Balenciaga did! ❤❤❤❤❤ Everyone kinda moved on a week later and went back to supporting them, thank you for not brushing it aside! ❤😻😻😻
THIS!!
Honestly! People need to stop ignoring evil from companies especially when its a place you can avoid shopping at, its not like groceries
Mia has been a virtual big sister for me since the pandemic, her set-up is so calming and her level of empathy is something I strive towards. such a breath of fresh air after dealing with work and people all day :) much love
Thank you for sharing with your viewers. Love your videos, especially the ones with your mom 💕🌈
This is so cool! Love the idea of video and it was really interesting! I love your video and have been here since the begging so continue your good work ❤❤
The fact that this company gives back to those kids in foster care is so heart warming! The idea of keeping these from the landfill, thus helping with the sustainability of these items by finding new homes, is soooo smart!
On our very first overseas holiday we flew with Emirates. When returning to South Africa we flew from Schiphol airport and it was crazy busy when we had to book our suitcases in. We had them wrapped before we booked them in and with all the chaos the lady who helped us missed tagging one of our suitcases before it went down the conveyor belt. We were told not to worry they would sort it out. Landing back in Cape Town that suitcase were missing. Went to lost and found and we're able to give them the wrapping tags. It took a week but we got the suitcase back with everything intact. Shout out to Emirates.❤
I love Mia! She is so amazing!! Love how genuine and authentic she is in all of her videos 🫶🏼🫶🏼
I love these videos so much, thank you off putting time and effort into each one you make !
90 days isn't long enough before they sale your stuff. It is a nightmare to locate lost luggage or postal package in general for that matter. Extend the time please. You can't tell me someone didn't want that ring back. It meant something to someone.
the only problem i can see with this is incentivizing airlines for "losing" baggage. Im already fairly suspicious of why airlines lose things in the first place, but it turning into a business is even more sus
I love how you're always making conscious choices... you didn't have to explain anything, yet you did. 💜
You are such a sweet and genuine RUclipsr❤❤
I think that yellow looks great on you! Pastals are just *chefs kiss* on you in general. That shirt with those pants also really went together so well!
I will never understand how luggage doesn't get sent back to its owner once found... they literally put tags on your luggage so it surely has the persons details?
I think maybe they try to contact them by phone first cause maybe the owner has to pay for the shipping or verify their address and if they don't hear back
I’m sure a lot of them lose the tags, the ways bags are treated and shoved around I can see the tags getting ripped off. Which I think is why they often put a barcode sticker on separately now.
I put a tag on my big suitcase flying from europe to usa and THEY CUT THE TAG OFF thank god they didn’t lose it but like wtf???
People have to collect it. It isn’t sent back. Many people aren’t willing to travel back to the other end of the world for a suitcase
Some people rather get the money because they over value the loss.
I love these types of videos! Thank you Mia!
Odd. The switch 100% or smart watches could legit help track down the owner. That's kinda sus the airline would just not open and do a basic check for the luggage contents to track down the person. Also they put tags on all luggage so not sure how they get lost in the first place unless workers are removing the tags
It's wild to me people don't put their electronics and jewelry on their carry ons 😅
SAME !!! I'm too afraid of losing it.
Love your videos, they always bring me a good mood ❤
I love their purpose and their initiatives! The clothes look fabulous on you!
Mia, would you consider a few short hair tutorials? I have hair thats just about the same length as yours, and I'm DYING to get mine looking half as cute as yours 😍
thank you for the work you do!!! I found your videos a couple months ago and have watched countless hours:) youtube tries to recommend other channels "like this one" and I DON'T WANT THEM
NO OTHER CHANNELS
ONLY MIA MAPLES🙋🏻♀️
I second this, my hair is getting to a similar length and I have no idea what to do with it 😂🤷🙏
Came to say the same thing about the hair, mine is the same length but I struggle to make it look that cute, I need her help!!
I would love to see how she styles her curtain bangs!! So cuteeee
I feel sad for the people who lost these things but so happy that they’ll find a new home and not in a landfill!
i need that bag omgggg, but i love how this company helps kids in foster care. That's the sweetest thing, because a lot of companies don't care to do so and those kids are humans and have feelings just like everyone else and need to feel loved to.
I love your videos Mia!! I’ve watched you for years. I had surgery a few years ago and binged most of your videos (2020)
I really like this concept of videos where you open random things. I just wish it would've been a mystery of what's in the bag. It's always fun watching you and mama maples unbox random items.
I live about 20 minutes away from Unclaimed Baggage. It’s been there as long as I can remember and we always stop in there and browse. It’s crazy and cool that there’s been so many videos made about that place and it’s just a common place to us who live here lol. Also they have some really cool props from movies right when you enter. Like Hoggle from The Labyrinth, which used to be one of my favorite movies when I was little. Scottsboro is such a small little town so it’s really awesome to see it get some recognition 😊!
This video is such a win! Everything fits, looks nice, and works haha love you Mia❤
love your videos mia, i've been watching for years now :)
Anyone else binge watches mia for a living?
That girl got some talent! Also we need more mama maples, we haven't seen her in soooo long!
A Mia video is exactly what I needed in my life right now. I’ve been feeling so anxious and stressed lately and you always make it better ❤

Yes, me too 😂😂😂
LOVE that you reviewed this company! Ive seen friends boasting about buying from them here is Canada recently.
The clothes fit so nice onto Mia and I love how everything matched! The baby blue top contrasted with the pants, matching with the baby blue galaxy buds, the opal ring and the baby blue Nintendo switch 🤭💙
The yellow sweater and the pants looked great. I thought that color yellow is very flattering on you, Mia. Loved the video! Loved that they decorated luggage to give to foster children. This was a win/win scenario. ❤. (I swear I could hear Mama Maples laughing in the background when you figured out you could pause your earbuds.)
Unclaimed baggage videos are like unsolicited Christmas gifts you don't know why & what you're getting 😂❤❤
I adore every video. Thank you for making us smile. ❤
your videos make me feel at peace ❣
Goodness mia, you really do have a great algorithm of interesting videos, they are so different yet all i will watch without a second thought! You are an incredible youtuber dude it really does make my day when you post

I agree! Had to watch it twice! 💗
Mia you look beautiful in all colors 🥺 keep rocking what makes you happy.
Wow! Loved everything you got. I loved the free people sweater on you!
Love from Germany, been watching you for years, great video as always❤
I have always wanted to purchase from unclaimed baggage but I was so hesitant to in case it wasn't good company or scammy. This changes everything and I love that they are trying to help with sustainability and give back to communities! As someone who is about to work in the juvenile law field, foster kids are some of the most appreciative people out there and I love that they are helping out those kids in need. They will definitely appreciate having a safe and nice place to put all their clothes and items when moving place to place!
The fact that this has not only been in the making for 2 years, but you also keep spoiling us is so sweet!! Don’t worry about the brand, that bag is still cute and I‘m sure that a lot of people would love to wear it nevertheless (me included!) ❤️
Love youuuuuu!!! I love this type of video sorey it took so long to post!

I love your videos so much! Watching from London by the way
Colchester!
Love this so much! It’s crazy how much luggage gets lost!
love your video! Always makes my day
While I am glad that this stuff isn’t just being dumped in a landfill, it kind of doesn’t sit right with me on how high the prices are for a lot of these items. Can someone tell me if it’s because the original owners are getting at least a decent payout for what they lost or are these companies just making bank on items they get for next to nothing? Much appreciated to anyone who has more knowledge about this than I do!
When I lost my luggage, I was able to fill out a form detailing everything I had to buy during my trip to replace my things I had packed with images of all receipts for proof and I got the money a couple months later. Tbh it was a really tedious and annoying process. Thankfully tho I didn't lose my bag permanently, but I know if you do you can fill out a similar form listing every thing that was in your bag and their value and you will get that money. Still sad though, because some things have sentimental value and can't be rebought or replaced!
@@izabella.zalewski I just certainly hope these people who lose some of these pricy items are getting back a good portion of that money and that’s why some of this stuff is so expensive and not just these companies saying “Oh that’s (x) brand, we can charge out the wazoo for it because people will buy it.”
And you are right, some things money can’t replace and it is very sad. Gives me such anxiety thinking about losing my bag when traveling…not that I travel much but still. Thanks for sharing! They really should find a way to make lost bag process easier for people as many might just not bother because of inconvenience and that is awful.
OMG Mia the fact you waited SINCE 2022 🤯 That's why we love you 🥰🥰
I love it when Mia casually mention Safiya in her videos cause I also love her. Also rn, Mia and Safiya are the only international RUclipsrs I watch. 💗
I absolutely love your videos! You are so talented and so funny!
I had no idea they donated the luggage as well. The fact that they try to help out foster youth in need is also such a nice thing!
please remember you are allowed to keep things that you like !!!!! whether they are expensive or not, you deserve to be made happy by things (even if they're expensive)
