I love teaching people how to paint!
I created The Idaho Painter as an alternative to big box DIY video shows that have actors who only act like they can paint but really can barely act. My mission is to teach everyone across the globe how to paint from the non-experienced to the long time professional. No experience is necessary. My channel is for the home improvement person, DIY painter, handyman professional, home and garden enthusiast, and even the professional painter. Lets play football or rugby now.

Great advice!
In our case we want to paint the board and batten on our house. Would you recommend spraying top to bottom (single story) to go with the natural lines from the trim so we don't get strips from going left to right ?
DUDE! You turn a dreaded job into an exciting challenge. Thank you!
Very good videos mate and very well explained 👍👍👍 thank you 🙏🏻

thanks for the video. I was wondering do you still spray horizontal if your siding grid runs vertical?
very informative and thorough explanations. Great job brother.
Leonel Castro you still haven't finished my house
cool.
Thanks for giving me self-reliance. It's like you have bestowed a universe of freedom. You're just a painter with a RUclips channel and look how many lives you've impacted. Amazing.
Wow, thank you!
Have you used your hvlp sprayer to refinish tubs, countertops, etc? Thanks!
Chris, great video. Thanks for all your advices to all DIYers. And one more thing the link is not working. Thanks
Just like that!! Was said 123 times !!lol great Job
I’m liking that spray shield, it looks like you can just stick a clean piece of cardboard in when the old one gets all gummy and wet..
Yes, works great!
13:28 wow amazing
I recently bought an airless spray painter, brand new, what can i use instead the lubricant that the maker make because i cant find it here, thanks
does the material you use depend on what the siding is made of? does super paint work for all types of siding?
do you have video of second story exterior paint?
Thanks for the vid.. Do you recommend a specific paint to use on siding(I'd like to go a few shades darker but not much and I'm looking for something that won't heat up if they make it) siding was put on in '94.. Thanks
Aura satin
what do you do with the spits that occur on your start/stop points on the house?
I did notice you spray from side to is there a difference if I spray up and down instead of side by side ,
Will there be a problem?
Hi Chris. Thank you for all the videos. What is the best spraying system for the outside of the house (eaves) and wrought iron fence - HVLP vs Airless vs what? I also do woodworking so would want to be able to use for finishes.
Airless for the house and it can also do the iron but you would want a very tiny tip for that iron so your not wasting much. But the preferred sprayer for the iron would be a help with gravity feed, but really that would only be used on the final protective clear coat. But all ca n be done easily with a airless sprayer just use a small tip.
Cristian. man. good broder
Thanks
Do you have to spray 2 times or
Only one time doing correctly and overlapping 50% is enough?
Can you spray gutters with same paint?
I need to learn how to figure out, the price for the labor for exterior paint
do you tint your primer?
Do your exterior paint jobs usually require one or two coats?
Hi what will be the consumption difference between roller and airless application
Will you do two coats on this wall?
Which tip for high rise building exterior painting
what primer do you use for exterior
A 515 tip is overkill for spraying siding. A size 15 orifice will put out way more paint than you need. A 311 tip would be better imo. You'll use a lot less paint and have less heavy spots. You can easily put it on just as thick and have better control of the volume of paint you are putting out.
Also, how is that wall not going to show flashing with all these separate sections done on separate parts of the siding? Surely with a white paint you are going to have some flashing.
I typically keep a wet edge when spraying siding, and always try to paint from one section into the other in order to prevent this and have a more consistent finish.
Question. Chris, are you painting the window trim w/the house siding color THEN coming back and painting the trim boards the trim color after spraying or if the trim boards are going to be a like SG trim color, do you mask off the window trim boards before spraying? Thank you!!
Thank you. So no SG paint for any window trim? Is that by design, or weather, or something else. Your direction makes a lot of sense, I think I found I have some not so good painting habits. Thank you.putting all of us on the right painting path.
..
I’ve learned a lot from your channel. Currently spraying my house. Do you always spray a second coat? And when you do spray a second coat do you spray the same direction as the first coat? Or do you spray side to side on the first coat and then top to bottom on the second coat? I’m done with the first coat and I’m worried about continuing to see my spray lines after the second coat.
We do not always spray a second coat
Hey Chris, when would I rollback a job? You have videos on that?
There are many different things that factor into that, no video yet
if the start and stop points are so important Chris why don't you use the extension pole u used in you're high cealings vids?
hey Like your videos! what do you think about graco 57025 magnum airless paint sprayer? i want to paint my front door and garage door with it, thanks,
That sprayer will work for that
The 515 is for regular latex paint. Check the paint can for instructions for thicker paint
Like👍
Thanks for ghis tip i have been searchinv for it cos i want to sgart a DIY for my 2 storey house nut i had no i dea where to start cos i wanted to do a spray lainting not brushes😂
Can you please be so kind and list the equipme t and materials i will meed for this project, I'm in South Africa
What is backrolling?
You should get a go pro hook it to your gun so people can see what kind of movement and the finer details.
Please make a video of spraying a 2 story house with no good stop/start points.
Hey Chris. Thanks for the video. Do u get a lot of spits when u let go of the trigger? If so, then what do u do about trying not to get spits on the siding when using an extension?
That's my only problem I have with the extension. I can't get it to stop spitting.
Thanks brother. Solid verse too. Matt.5:16
What kind of paint are you using w a lifetime warranty?
An extension causes spitting though. Wish someone had a solution for that other than starting and stopping away from the work area.
What kind pf gloves are those
Chris are you still using rac x for siding or the Titan HEA? I used a 515 HEA but had not a even sheen and don’t know why maybe was the paint so dryer out that I need three coats to get a even sheen ? I don’t have lap marks just not 100 % even sheen or is that everywhere the same and im to picky ?
Try a 517 HEA tip instead.
Paint Life TV ok I’ll try that today, why 517 ? Apply more paint to get the even finish ?
Hi Chris. I have badly glossed interior doors and just wanted to know how you would remove the gloss so I can paint them
+Chris Berry brilliant! Does it remove the gloss completely? And how do I apply. Sorry for being a pain thanks
great work ..
how long does exterior spray paint last for wood siding?
Depends
Can someone please explain why he said I get all my back rolling done first? I don't understand I thought by definition "back" rolling meant doing it after or behind spraying? Thanks
The purpose of backrolling is to get the paint into crevices and cracks that normally wouldn’t be able to with a sprayer. So it really doesn’t matter if you do it before or after the spraying. The reason behind doing it before spraying is so that it doesn’t leave any texture and it looks flawless and more uniform.
Could you make a video to show how to paint exterior brick walls of a house with the paint sprayer? thanks
thank you!
This was 4 years ago but a little flick as he stops the gun and changing the direction will help remove lines but this is primer it’s better not being so stiff with it
One coat of paint when spraying a house, or two?
You said," you already primed and back rolled," so Is the primer BROWN in color?
bgswtdaddyliscious Thats exactly what i thought! Lol
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you
how much extra paint does this style use as compared to a brushing style, less or more?
More
So how would you recommend to shoot a house that has very long walls? Like 90 or so?
Sprayer extensions, ladders
Do I need to put on a primer coat first before I paint the house?
Not if it is already painted or pre-primed
I saw a Bible verse and immediately followed you even before you finished all your tips
what paint should I use in the bathroom to stop mold ?
I put that shit on everything
What’s best to use, water base or oil base for exterior siding on house?
Water
Here is a real tip for ALL painters..use shingles along the bottom..no cutting and a perfect edge.. also a 515 is a hose..use a 413 its faster and you can get great cuts with it. NY in the house! BOOM!
What if you dont have logical start and stop points
Why do you go from top to bottom I always do bottom to top ive found you get less light spots under the lap spraying this way..?
+Chris Berry that totally makes sense probably saves a little time not having to baby sit the line from dragging the wall. thanks Chris!
