    I've been spray painting interior / exterior for 30+ years. Extension poles suck, don't use them. It builds up pressure in the extension pole and when you release the trigger, it spits.
    With extension poles, your wrist is no longer helping you to keep the Tip straight, witch means the Tip is only at the right distance and angle, less than 10 inches as you move left to right.
    You will struggle to apply a good pattern and overlapp. There's going to be high and low build on the paint and Stop / Start streaks, perhaps so bad you need to paint the whole house again.
    Graco fixes spitting with the CleanShot valve. It works great when you're spraying ceilings etc. But for work, like in this video. Use only the gun. Because it gives you much more control.
    And trust me, if you're not used to spraying, extension poles makes it 10 times harder. Its like holding a garden hose 3 feet down the hose AND turning the water pressure ON and OFF.
    Well of coerce, since the extension pole is metal, its not that bad. But every time you pull the trigger you will shoot a line of paint, that may run. WRIST CONTROL is crucial and more so for DIY.
    You need to FEEL and SEE to be able spray with precision. With the right pressure and Tip you can go around windows with a piece of carboard/metal shield and hardly need to mask anything.
    Most paint manufactures have Tip recommendations. For this paint its probably 515. You can go above that, like a 1221 but that = a bigger machine and a lots of experience to put it on evenly.
    For a DIY I'd recommend a small tip orifice. Maybe 412 - 510 - 512. Lower = more control. Yes will need to move your arm and body more, but trust me, even grandma will do a great job.

      Which brand and model spray gun(s) would you recommend for exterior house diy painting?

    • @nodeal7337
      @nodeal7337 4 месяца назад

      @@mozartamadeus1580 I only have Graco machines, supposed to be the best and I got several, one 390st is almost 30 years old I think. So Graco is a very good brand for sure.
      Titan is also well known and Wagner. One thing that sets Graco apart is the spray gun, hoses and tips. The good news is, you can use those on Titan and Wagner.
      For a house, like in the video. You have overlapping siding and a relative small surfaces, a wall, end to end. This means its very easy to spray and almost any machine will give u good result. The overlapping panel breaks up most, if not all errors in your pattern. But if it's a Big flat wall. Then you need a machine strong enough to use large tips = wide Fan.
      A small tip orifice with narrow spray fan will not be a good choice for that type of spraying. Its hard to get a good overlapping pattern. But there are tricks for weaker machines.
      I recommend buy a used quality machine, instead of a cheap new one. They are very easy to fix, DIY. There's several good RUclipsrs that show how to DIY.
      If it holds pressure, no leak. Your good to go. It might look like it has been dipped in paint, but that's a good argument to ask for a better price. I'll give you a tip or two how you can clean it up with ease and make it look brand new. Post a link to whatever machine you consider, and I'll have a look. I also need to know what type of house you got.

    We have a graco airless sprayer as well and i can tell you once you paint with it you will never want to go back to a brush or a roller. Not only will it look so much better its just way easier and faster. Yeah tapeing and covering everything sucks but once you get a process down its really not that bad. Oh and make sure you get the thinnest plastic you can. Dont make the mistake of buying 2 mill plastic sheeting as its way overkill and more expensive.

      @beverlyblanco3167 Год назад

    • @number1pappy
      @number1pappy Год назад +3

      @Beverly Blanco absolutely, yes you can! You just have to cover the floor and anything you don't want painted. I would just do a search on RUclips on how to use an airless sprayer on your interior. I'm pretty sure Jeff (renovision) has one. They sell plastic sheeting in the paint department of the big box stores. It's very thin and a lot less expensive than regular plastic sheeting. Now I will say this if all your painting is a small guest room you might want to paint it the traditional way as setting up the sprayer ,tapeing etc for such a small job isn't really were an airless sprayer shines. Large and multiple rooms are more appropriate for using a sprayer. In our renovation, after we were done with everything except paint, we taped off the walls and floors and sprayed the ceilings first. Then we did the trim and let it dry for a couple of days. Then we masked off the trim and painted the walls. I can tell you spraying the trim will give you an excellent finish. Having zero brush marks is awesome! Our home looks like a professional painted it now. There is a natural order that professionals use when building a home. If you follow those steps and use the same methods and tools ,you'll have a far more chance of having a project look like a pro did it as opposed to a DIYer did it.

    Did you use the paint straight out of the can or did you add water/other substance to it to thin it?

    So it will long term stick to vinyl without scuffing it first and adhesion promoter?

    • @joseph7105
      @joseph7105 Год назад +1

      Why would you scuff it? It is vinyl.

    • @IndependenceCityMotoring
      @IndependenceCityMotoring Год назад +2

      @@joseph7105 For mechanical adhesion. Vinyl/plastic is too slick for paint to strongly adhere.

      vinyl has been painted for many years. for example there are still companies that paint the vinyl extrusion for their windows instead of making it with a dye. last forever.

    • @IndependenceCityMotoring
      @IndependenceCityMotoring Год назад +2

      @@HomeRenoVisionDIY Yeah but to make it last, doesn't that require specific preparation like creating a textured surface (through scuffing/sanding), and adhesion promoter prior to paint?

    • @joseph7105
      @joseph7105 Год назад

      @IndependenceCityMotoring Perhaps you should be more specific with your question if you want a better answer? How old is thr vinyl you are trying to paint? You should definitely clean and degrease it first, like anytime you paint anything

    A quick question about after painting. How would you recommend cleaning the siding every year? For example I usually power wash my siding but wouldn’t the paint eventually wear off after so many washes?

    • @grzewnicki
      @grzewnicki Год назад +1

      Checkout soft wash videos on RUclips. You really don't want to pressure wash siding, Soft wash is so much easier, you can make a solution of chlorine/water/surfactant (you'll need to cut the pool chlorine to about 1% strength, Google soft wash ratio and you should find a chart with water to chlorine ratio to get it to 1%). Apply with a pump up sprayer rated for bleach, let it dwell fora bit, then rinse. You want to test the soft wash solution on a small area first to ensure you don't damage anything.

    Like to know is vinyl going to peel in about 5 years or less cause paint not soaking into vinyl . Back in the day clad boards one time smooth side was out paint peel easy . Then builder turn rough side out paint really lasted lot longer . Vinyl is final with paint peels . 1 of reason came out with vinyl . I did lot spraying back in my days . Shure product out there now have improved . How many years will paint last on vinyl ? That with good power wash clean siding is a must. Good job. Looks good. In my 70 and my house is vinyl I am watching you. I thinking like to do same to my house . I just hate to see peeling off ! Thanks for video .

    Never strained the paint, saw you spray an uncovered window, need to add floetrol for those pumps and avoid runs
