    And if Lister were to write his own version of the song...
    He’s weak and he's spineless, come what will
    His level of incompetence is quite unreal
    His anecdotes of grandeur are all but spiel
    He’s Smeghead, Smeghead, Smeghead Rimmer
    Of stress and strife, he is the bringer
    He'll wear your patience ever thinner
    He will put you through the wringer
    He’s Smeghead, Smeghead, Smeghead Rimmer
    He’s an even bigger square than Seymour Skinner
    He’ll make a frowner of a grinner
    He will never be a winner
    Master of the phoney camaraderie
    He’ll swiftly squash your prospects of joy and glee
    How come he’s such a smeghead? It’s a mystery
    He’s Smeghead, Smeghead, Smeghead Rimmer
    He's also a fantastic fibber
    His every remark makes my skin quiver
    How I hate to hear him blither

    The sad thing is, if you look deeper past it. He felt he was useless on the ship, that no one really liked him and that he was held back. All the times he tried to better himself he failed and to him that made him feel terrible. So he dreamed that he was impoirtant and smart and brave so he wouldnt feel so sad. Its actually saddening to see such things and even in light of this they still hate him... Poor rimmer

      It's always a pleasure to hear about our brothers across the ocean getting as much enjoyment as we from Red Dwarf, I am still of the mind that, generally speaking, the comedy and writing is a touch too "British" for a wider appreciation over there, but it makes it all the more special whenever I do meet/speak to someone such as yourself who cherishes it.
      As a brief aside, if you haven't read the novels yet, I highly recommend them, not only are they exceptionally funny, but (and this may not be particularly important to you, but it is to me lol) they're also (for the most part, there's a brief dip in quality in one of the books) exemplary science fiction books in of themselves. Something that they could have easily not have bothered with and they still would have been as popular.
      If the notion of reading them is a bit too daunting (they're quite large books), I have good news, Chris Barrie provided the narration for all the audiobook versions, and be it that his first interaction with the media world was as an impressionist, you can be rest assured that all the boys from the dwarf are suitably voiced.

He left as he was happy doing the Brittas Empire, but he started to hate that show and missed Red Dwarf & which of the two is still talked about today? I tried re-watching Brittas and it has not stood the test of time at all.

    • @ruthrene4497
      @ruthrene4497 9 лет назад

      Victoria Grace Well, that's true. Rimmer's sole purpose was to keep Lister sane. I guess that went for Kryten as well.

    • @franticstorm6074
      @franticstorm6074 9 лет назад +3

      Ruth Rene And Victoria Grace.
      Not quite correct. Both the Cat and kryten's appearance on Red Dwarf, was beyond Hollys control.The Cat was already on Red Dwarf albeit it took 3 million years to become what he is now. (holly had no control over him) (call it evolution if you will) (the Cat is A Cat) Kryten was found/rescued from the Nova 5, a crashed space ship, again Holly had no control over Kryten coming aboard Red Dwarf( not that holly would ever object anyway, It wasn't in the script) Rimmer's hologram however was generated by holly and as you correctly say, to keep Dave Lister sane. You should also remember that continuity is not one of Red Dwarf's strong points and why should it be? The best way to watch Red Dwarf is not to ask questions or try and make sense of it but merely watch what you see. Although it may help if you actually watched Red Dwarf from the beginning to part understand who is who and why. after that? who cares and what does it matter anyway?
