@@nut913you unhooked your battery cables while changing the camshaft right? What your feeling is probably the fact that the TCM has already been reset from the terminals being off, and resetting your KAM (keep alive memory). But, no worries because driving the car will slowly but surely improve shifting. Thanks again for watching!
Great video. I'm having the exact same issues you described. Check engine light and traction control light on. I have been driving the car by manually shifting it to get it to go down the road. It's getting fixed this week. Thx for the help.
Hi just came across you video. This is exactly what I am dealing with on my daughter's Dodge Caravan. She had a broken rocker on the same bank. I replaced them all with new lifters along with the intake cam which had a badly damaged lobe. Prior to this work there were no codes. Now assembled I get two P0344 codes. The second states for pending. Both showed up after putting everything back together. Motor sounds great but no get up and go or top end. Thanks for posting this. I hate to tear it down again but it sure sounds like this could be the issue. I do not recall getting anything magnetic near the cam but did use magnetic dishes to hold parts.
Unfortunately, it does sound like that could be your issue. You can try pulling the cam positioning sensor from the left bank and switching it to the right. If you still get the same code, there’s really only two possibilities. Either the wiring is bad, or the cam itself will need changed. Thanks for watching the video.
I'm having this same problem after replacing the rocker arms on 2015 jeep grand cherokee 3.6 put all new ones in now it's throwing p0344 and when I pull it into drive it goes in 3rd gear and won't come out which is limp.mode from.what iv learned could this be a timing chain issue or a cam just like you replaced
I am having the same issue. I went back in and replaced the exhaust cam and both phasers on bank one, but it didn’t help. Were you able to fix the problem?
I have p0345 did all the rockers and lash adjusters and 1 intake cam because it ate a lobe. I also found the oil galley bolts loose in the side of the head. Tighten those and before i would get cam position codes on both heads intermittently. Now that its not releasing metal onto the magnetic tone wheels im only getting the bank 2 p0345. But its still intermittent. It will only set during idle or coming off idle. Im thinking it may need a cam phaser or a wiring issue any input would be appreciated
Great video. I have exactly same issues with my 3.6L pentastar chrysler. I replaced valve covers and oil cooler and i have a knock sounds like its from exhaust cam. All my rockers and lifters are good. Cant seem to fix issue. Will a new cam fix the tap also?
@@rubengonzales3794 if you’re getting a knocking sound and your lifters and rockers are good then it’s probably coming from the bottom end… but, if you want to try to fix it and are prepared to put a new cam in there. Go ahead and just replace the rockers and lifters as well on that side because they aren’t that expensive and that would eliminate any possibility of it being the top end.
Replaced bank 2 intake camshaft, lifters, rockers, cam phaser and oil actuator. After clearing codes and driving a bit I get code P0349 (camshaft position sensor circuit intermittent) Bank 2 Sensor 1. Is sensor 1 the exhaust or intake on Bank 2? I have been in this engine several times and have not got this completely fixed yet!
This might be a stupid question because I didn’t see you put it in there, but did you change the camshaft sensor itself? If you did, did you change the plug connector question? Intermittent. Sounds like you’ve got a wiring issue. I would trace all the wires and see if you’ve got anything grounding out.
im having problem with my dodge dart, my check engine and esc light is on and showing p0344 code but i change my camshaft sensor already but nothing happens
I have a bunch of codes coming up after I replaced my rocker arms and lifters. Cam position sensors on both banks, engine sounds great now but no power to down shift going up a hill. Traction control light and engine lights, I did use a magnet to remove the rockers and lifters and I think I remember it getting stuck to that wheel on the back. I hope I didn't ruin all my cams since each cam is showing error codes. The magnet is a very strong magnet as well, Neodymium magnet. Any help would be appreciated
Unfortunately, I think you ruined your cams. That’s exactly what happened with me as well, and I didn’t even use a high-powered magnet. But, before anything make sure your timing is perfectly in time…. If it’s off, even one it will throw all those codes as well and put it in limp mode
So I bought a 2015 wrangler, 120k miles, when I bought it had code for catalytic converter (i dont knowbwhat code it was, the mechanic took care of that), after they were changed with aftwe market ebay cats, P0344 came up for bank 1 camshaft positioning sensor, it was changed and then came back on, now the code p0344 comes on and off, when there's no code it drives perfect, and when the check engine light is on, sometimes it's hard to accelerate..... any advice?
But your saying the Jeep Never had the p0344 code or any drivability issues before the cats were swapped ever? And that the problem started immediately once the cats were swapped, as in the same day? Please be very precise. As it’s very important to me diagnosing your issue
@The Howards Garage not since I bought it. Maybe the dealer deleted the p0344 code and then it came back on once the cats were swapped. Also just 2 days ago when I plugged in the computer the p4056 code came on, not sure if it's related, but still didn't fix the p0344 code yet, gonna take it to the shop this week, the mechanic checked what to do and some kind of clip for the sensor came up on his system so he's gonna try that and look for loose wiring and harnesses
@@joshuaengel7119 yeah the clip he’s talking about for the sensor is just putting a new cam sensor wiring plug on it, which usually won’t fix the issue. But, who knows….. maybe you’ll get lucky. How long have you had the jeep? When did you buy it from the dealer?
Had same issue, replaced all sensors then saw this video and replaced both camshafts on that side. Didnt fix the issue. Still having same p0344 code pop up.

8:43 i would do the phaser first. Put a wrench on the camshafts and see if they can move independently from the phaser without much force. Do not try to turn the engine over that way, just looking for play. Im willing to bet that is your issue
I have a 2010 ram 1500 5.7 with a po344 code I replaced the camshaft sensor and drove it about 15 to 20 miles down the highway at 75 and lights did not come back on whenever I slow down and let the truck slow itself down the check engine light and traction control light came back on I have reset unhooked battery all kinds of things truck is running great oil pressure is good you know it's all seems to be fine but it keeps throwing the code back
No sir I figured it out last night it was 3 quarts low on oil changed it and it's fine but I don't have any oil on ground and the is a small leak on top side front of oil pan but not that bad I appreciate your time and reply very much
Unfortunately it’s a very common issue with all vehicles that have the 3.6 v6 pentastar motor in them. Personally, I will never own one again. But, I do still work on them. And it’s a shame because the caravans, town and countries, Jeeps, and muscle cars they put them in are very nice vehicles. But, the motors are just too problematic and expensive to keep on the road.
