i love how the bosses flash red when they are low in health. True classic arcade experience

they should've left the life bar out. I don't remember the bosses having life bars
True that. What would of made it more classic is if they would not show their life bar at all to keep us guessing. When they blink red, then we'll know they're low in hp.
@@dartanionff11 I don't know about the arcade version, but the Turtles in Time SNES version had health indicators for bosses.
just missing that epic sound when you attack the bosses. that was a satisfying sound in the turtles in time games.
The only, and I mean ONLY thing that could make this more perfect is if we still had James Avery here to voice Shredder.
They should have just did voice cuts from the show.

@@claymora2519 Sure, but it's just about perfect for me as is. I'd love to be able to play as Usagi (though he would likely require his own license), but that's about it. (plus gameplay wise, the 7 characters we have already represent every possible combination of the 3 stats, so any additions will essentially be glorified skins)

I think it's fair to say that dotemu has become the king of retro style beat em up games. They're pretty dope, man.
I became a fan after streets of rage 4. Anything this company is doing I immediately want to try and play. Been playing this all day. Gotta save a day for friends to come over and just go ham in the co-op.

This game immediately went to #4 of all time favorite games. It feels like the Turtle arcade games I used to play as a kid, but with more modern controls.

The Foot Clan soldiers are just straight up hilarious, I almost feel bad beating them up because they look like they are having so much fun on all the stages, specially the mall and the tv studio, I love them 🤣

Dotemu is so awesome. They're really on a roll. They put so much love and care into these games. Streets of Rage 4, now this. I need them to make an X-Men game next! With the iconic Jim Lee era X-Men roster! Since the X-Men animated series is coming back and are mutants coming to the MCU finally, it's the perfect time.😭❤️

@@bigboi5545 Disney has been pushing X-Men a lot lately, and it's all been the Jim Lee era X-Men because they're the most iconic, marketable, and they pop! Prof X literally came on screen into Multiverse of Madness to the X-Men theme song, lol. They know what we like. Disney is open to whoever makes good games and has a good track record, Dotemu has that. I wish people would think positive and not kill the vibe, lol.

This game has so much character and personality. Love the little details in these beat ‘em ups where looking at animations and backgrounds is just as fun as playing the game. That’s why I love games like Scott Pilgrim and Castle Crashers
It's a different style, but I recommend to you the Dishwasher games. The first one isn't really accessible anymore if you don't have an Xbox 360, but the second game has been ported to PC. Those games are basically 2D Beat Em Up + DMC with weapon switch combos and cancels.

One of my favorite games of all time is Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and this game gives me that same feeling of hype just off the look alone. Can’t wait to drag all my friends into a 6 player run

It’s surprising they made April playable in this, it’s fun to see this version of April kick some ass. In the cartoon she was a fun character but got kidnapped all the time, something even the show pointed out.

Played this earlier this morning with my son. He loves it, just like his dad does.
I didn't even know about this until yesterday but it's easily the game I'm most excited to play. Reminds me of when I used to go to the arcade with my brothers as a kid. This game makes me want to buy a windbreaker jacket.
That seems much better than waiting 2 years for them to announce release date like I was. This was more anticipated for me than any AAA game

You know what I'd rather see instead of an X-Men beat em' up? A Koei style musou hack and slash with a huge ass cast of characters.

It's so good... It literally transported me back to the 90s. Playing 6 players is like everything you could ever wish for in a tmnt beat em up. It's so fun and replayable. The music has no right being this good. Please buy this game, if you like amazing and fun games please support this developer. I am so happy rn. 9.5/10
I've been playing the hell out of this game since this morning. As someone who loves retro games & the turtles, it's a huge treat to play. I got Raph, Donnie, & April up to their full level

@@arkhamxreaper I used CE to level up to max in one chapter. I just created an "injection copy" of the experience number & multiplied it by 9 and bam!! For some reason 10x crashes the game 🤔

I hope so too and I really think it will because it’s exactly what everyone wanted when we saw the first trailer for it. It hits that nostalgia we all love but also adds new stuff. Also man if you have Xbox I believe it’s on gamepass

Played through arcade mode with one of my buddies today, and its clear the team who made this was writing a genuine love letter to 90s beat 'em up games. The levels and soundtracks have some really deep cuts from other games besides TMNT like several big pieces from the X-Men side-scroller. Well worth the money, and I think they did a great job with this one.

The music is on-fucking-point, too. Even the track for browsing achievements is perfect.
Then there's that fight at the end where you're like "They know. They know how awesome this is supposed to be."
Have the TMNT beat 'em up at the arcade, and love playing that one, so I'm happy to see a new one.
Pre-ordered this game the moment it was available along with Neon White, started playing it before work this morning and have been playing it non stop since. I’m on level 14 already and it’s remained amazing with equal quality in every level. Can’t wait to unlock Casey soon.

I love how they improve on classic beatemups with a deeper move list. I binged a lot of classics and I noticed they were pretty bland after a while on what you could do. I'm thankful Streets of Rage 4 & TMNT bring that part of the game into the modern age
I love that they actually made April badass. In some incarnations of TMNT, the turtles teach her or she learns some martial arts, so it makes sense.
Also this soundtrack *SLAPS!*
In the original comics, and in almost all shows except for the 80s one, Splinter trains April and she becomes a kunoichi, yes.

This is the best TMNT game since Turtles In Time.
TMNT have a poor track record when it comes to quality games. TURTLES IN TIME is over 30 years old, so that should tell you how long it's been since we had a solid TMNT video game.
@@shinbakihanma2749 Maybe *recent ones* but not past ones hence why I said TIT and others before it, though there have been a few decent ones in between. Konami has a great track record in their prime actually of great TMNT games...thus why this game was inspired by those games the creators even admitted this.
@@MKF30 The Turtles beat em ups from the late 80s early 90s were the only solid TMNT games that Konami ever developed. Anything else was mediocre at best, and awful at worst. Konami has a pretty shitty track record of TMNT games after that era.
@@shinbakihanma2749 They really didn't make many TMNT though after late 80s and 90s. By that point they were disappearing and other developers were making TMNT games which were average at best if not bad though there may be a few good ones here and there. Overall though in their prime they made solid games. Theres just something about those late 80s and early to mid 90s games that were great. Of course if you're a gen zer and missed those games not sure you'd feel the same but I grew up in the 80s and 90s so they have a lot of meaningful memories for me.
@@MKF30 Actually, you're sorely incorrect. KONAMI made ALOT of TMNT games. Not only did they have the rights to develop the early TMNT games from the 80s and 90s on various platforms, but they developed a bunch of mediocre TMNT games during the early to mid 2000s based on the 2003 series.
Seeing the animated intro after launching the game for the first time is such a beautiful thing.
Okay, really small thing, but I love the little macaws that are in stage 4! They're so cute! And the Blue-and-Gold macaw has a bit of green on the front of their head too! A good amount of people forget that.

I loved and still love Ninja Turtles even at 36. For a lot of my friends it was Star Wars or Star Trek. But, for me it was Ninja Turtles. TMNT was my Star Wars so much that I still read the comics or watch the shows whenever I can.
Wow man this is just awesome, makes me feel like a kid again watching this. Just got to the part of the video where Max mentioned how dope it would be to play as shredder honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up getting some type of dlc that gives us a mode where we can play as him. I think everyone would love that. I don’t mind paying extra money for dlc if it’s awesome dlc

Game looks cool, I don't think people appreciate how good the OG opening to TMNT was, its a work of art! Prob. a big reason the show took off IMO.
I think it was made by a japanese company which is why it has a different look from the rest of the show.
As a Turtles fan, this is going to be such a highlight for 2022 until the Cowabunga Collection is released.
The classic series was way after my time (grew up with the 2003 series), but this looks too good to pass up. The beat ‘em up style looks addicting as hell. It’s great to see retro styles games coming back in this generation and how appropriate it is that’s it’s the Turtles.
These guys create the amount of love and charm that we miss from fighting games intros from back in the day like Street fighter alpha 3 and such...
i like how april slams the foot soldiers back and forth- then takes out her camera and takes a picture of them before they explode. That's a cute personal touch of detail dotemu have put in for her.
April is the best TMNT character next to Michelangelo.

That overworld episode selection screen reminds me a whole lot about the Scott Pilgrim VS The World game.

seeing an amazing tmnt game that plays well and hits all the nostalgia buttons is so dope. definitely brings me back to my childhood in the arcades, trying to get in as much time on the machines as I could with only a few dollars.

Final Fight is a possibility. I don't see why Capcom wouldn't let them do it. Simpson's on the other hand, that's from Konami, and I don't think that would happen.

This game looks like a more refined Scoot Pilgrim vs. the World. Then again, the Scoot PIlgrim game was also supposed to be a love letter to retro arcade beat em' ups, so I guess we've now come full circle. There's also just a certain charm that pixel art has over 3D models.

Yeah, this game is so much fun! However, one thing I learned recently is that Nickelodeon actually requested that April's "flying peach" ability be removed because they didn't feel it fit her character. It's a shame, but what can you do?

This is worth it. And playing online with other players is amazing. And it's smooth. Have yet to notice any lag whatsoever. Switch version.
I just love how the first thing Max does is go to the “How to Play” section. It’s so annoying watching RUclipsrs make videos playing a game, but they skip the tutorials. I just appreciate how Max puts in the time to make sure he knows the controls
So many RUclipsrs/streamers do that and it definitely is annoying cus then the whole play through you have to listen to them complain about how they don’t know the controls and don’t know how to do anything. Just take 1 min to look at the tutorial lol

Yeah I played like 6 levels with some friends yesterday, I remember beating the whole game when I played it in the arcade, what each character can do is really cool, the skills and moves are really cool, I see why they took a while, it was a lot of fun, and again, they added so much stuff and gameplay features, it also really looks nice they did really well imo
played this game the entire day, played with my best friend, with my brother and also with random people on parsec on 6-player mode. I have to say, it was the best experience I had in a game since SOR4 days, love this.

Just to clarify for those curious, this game does not feel at all like Streets of Rage 4. Feels good in its own right.

The story mode UI is just like the origjnal TMNT for the Nintendo. Dotemu did their homework and hit all the nostalgia bells. Driving in the Turtle Van is classic

I bought this game yesterday in my switch before to sleep just to wake up and play the game like if were Christmas and enjoy it with the SNES online controller, omg! I have no words to describe how awesome was that, and the hard difficulty makes the game 100 times better, just like the old times with Turtles in Time.
Never got into the Turtles outside watching and enjoying a few episodes of the 2003 version.
But this, and the Cowabunga Collection look VERY promising. Helps that I loved Streets of Rage 4

Reminds of that beautiful night in 2008 when I was a kid and I went over to my friend’s house for his birthday. His dad had a fairly good job, and the entertainment room had a projector, a pinball machine, and a couple arcade games. One of them had a bunch of beat-em-ups on the machine, and one of those was Turtles in Time. And as a young seven year old fully engrossed with TMNT at the time, I fell in love with that game. Fast forward 14 years and this game is coming out. God, I can’t wait to play this.

It has the same publisher as Streets of rage 4 but is not the same dev team, the team behind this is the same guys who work on the Scott Pilgrim game and the gba TMNT game based on the movie.
I love the health and revive mechanics for teammates, it makes it feel like a true teamwork game than six players just mindlessly attacking on their own

The devs did a great job delivering an awesome and nostalgic TMNT experience. Hope they get the chance to do something with other classic properties like Thundercats, MOTU, G.I. Joe, etc.

Donatello was my favorite as a kid cause I was learning the staff and was my favorite weapon.
