@@Step_0newell your a nasty person for being so untrusting. You really watch Arlo and come away think he’d lie to us, let alone lying for money. You obviously haven’t listened long to the guy
@@Step_0neor he could just actually enjoy it
@@Step_0ne I’m sure that’s what you would do
Arlo love your content even though your dad was a muppet and your mom was from sesame street
@@Step_0ne I’m sure that’s what you tell yourself
Shredder's Revenge somehow took everything that made Turtles In Time great and made it even better. I was floored and I can't wait to play this DLC.
With this DLC, it’s a massive love letter to the whole franchise. Having callbacks to almost 40 years worth of TMNT media.
Hopefully there will be more opportunities for further DLC expansions.
Namely... involving the 2003 continuity into the mix. _It has potential for a second huge update._
Turtles in Time was a decent game but the mechanics definitely needed a bit of extra, stuff, to it. Maybe a button for dashing, maybe a button for grab instead of half circle rotate the d-pad standing right next the guy or what ever it was. Shredder's Revenge takes that asetic and then gives it some well needed mechanical complexity. It's not like super complex or anything but it gives the player that little bit of extra agency in how they interact with the game.
Disagree. This game doesn't play as well as Turtles in Time. The sliding after the run animation, the control running diagonal isn't as tight etc. There are issues gameplay wise hardcore beat em up players don't like about Shredders Revenge. Great game but not 100% better than Turtles in Time.
I disagree 100%!
Below are reasons why I think Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time is still better than Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge:
(1)The 2D sprite design of the characters still stands the test of time.
(2)The music, sound clips, and sound effects played a huge roll in bring out the personality of the game.
(3)It was long enough to not wear out it’s welcome.
(4)The game play was easy, simple, and fun!
(5)MODE 7 effects!!! Nice to see at the time.
(6)The game reflects the version of the cartoons I feel is the best or one of the best; The 80’s cartoon.3
There may be a bit of bias, but I think most of my points stand.
With Shredder’s Revenge, I feel like the chosen art style isn’t as memorable and it isn’t unique. It’s so similar to other modern side-scroller best ‘em up titles. The music, while good, wasn’t great with the exception of select tracks. And, the stage levels, some at least, were rather dull and boring.
I hope TMNT: TIT gets a remaster that allows the game to be played in wide-screen 16:9 format that doesn’t appear to be stretched.
I'm not kidding when I say this is my most anticipated DLC of the year!
And its only $8!
Rayman the Phantom Show?
You just sold me on this
@@Smokey1419 The DLC, that is. The base game was $30, but I'm almost certain it will go on sale to promote the DLC.
@@PlushEverythingisStanky I haven't gotten around to buying Mario + Rabbids 2. I still need to finish the first game. (I got stuck on that one sniper level.)
Same here. Can't wait to play Usagi and Karai.
My father used to play Turtles in time with me when I was a kid. We never managed to finish it :c
You're not familiar with Usagi Yojimbo? Dude, you've got to read Stan Sakai's comic books. He started around the same time as Eastman and Laird's Turtles, but still publishes new material to this day. It's about a wandering Ronin in feudal Japan. Everyone is an anthropomorphic animal, but it's not a book for kids. There's violence, drama, and surprisingly high stakes. And the artwork is breathtaking. Sakai has won a ton of Eisner Awards over the decades, and deserved every single one of them.
Had no idea this was releasing, definitely gonna be playing it.
I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
Arlo has aged himself with this video, he must of been a 80’s or 90’s kid. Nothing wrong with that, I’m 41 myself and love TMNT, and USAGI
I'm shell shocked that you are reviewing this - It's the only other game besides Pokémon and Zelda that I've absolutely loved to play handheld
4:36 um, is that...WARIO?!
I did not know Shredder's Revenge has DLC [or is getting it], another excuse to go back to the game, maybe for some more multiplayer.
does the DLC add more to the campaign or is it just new characters and survival mode?
BOOYAHKASHA
This is a surprising video

I will never understand why we've made all these computing/graphical advances and people still make/want pixel graphics; the mind boggles
Because it's significantly more timeless compared to 3d graphics, and is a lot more cheap compared to 3d. Plus it just overall looks good lol.
First! 😁
Usagi Yojimbo is a very long running comic by Stan Sakai. Very charming, lots of fun, set in historic Japan. I believe Usagi and the Turtles have had crossovers in the comics before. Also if you ever find yourself at a comic convention where Sakai has a booth, stop by and say hi - he's very friendly and always a good chat.
Correction -- both properties crossed over primarily in animated shows.
Oh, and the 2003 era-based videogame _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus._
Of course the turtles and usagi have also, and at this very moment in time even ARE doing this, crossed over in their comics as well.
Most people know of Usagi from his crossovers with the turtles in the animated cartoons.
The main game was already amazing, but this dlc really looks like it'llmake it feel fresh again. Both the new characters are favorites of mine, and while I don't usually bother with survival modes, this one looks like it wil be a lot of fun. I especially can't wait to play as the bosses.
Very much agreed.
Oh look, Randy from Christmas Story is here in the comments again!
"Meatloaf
Meatloaf
Double beatloaf
I HATE MEATLOAF!"
The guy really does sound like that. I wonder what kind of life this individual lives. Angry at the world if his spiel about a video game is any indication.
This game is boring as hell. Same thing over and over.
I was hoping for a metroidvania beatemup but nope just another beatemup capitalizing on turtles.
I love the fact that Karai's stance is the same, and she has the move-set from the TMNT: Tournament Fighters.
Yes she does and it's awesome
Because I that game, she was, if I may, INSANELY OVERPOWERED!!
Neat.
Shredder's Revenge is my favorite game ever made, so I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Super excited for the DLC.
You have low standards
Fun fact: Usagi isn't even a Ninja Turtles character, but in fact a guest character from their own series of comics that crosses over with the Ninja Turtles both in comics and several of the cartoons with relative frequency. Some people don't even realize Usagi has his own comics. Pretty cool get from this team.
I like the changes they made over the patches from the last year to the base game. It's nice to be able to customize it to my liking depending on my mood, being able to toggle so many options is a nice feature.
Giving the game its deserved attention
And it only took some ad money
@@Ihatevideogames334
_Numbskull._ You're gonna be grounded if your parents catch you typing this idiocy.
This is how to do a modernized classic. Build off the foundation of what came before and make something new out of it to not feel stuck in the past.
Rise and Mutant Mayhem have really brought me back into TMNT as a grownup, hope they get some rep soon in this game or some other. Platinum have been getting mixed stuff lately but still would love them to make a game based on either recent version of the TMNT
I hope they go back to the Tmnt 2003 style one day
The dlc should add rise skins from what I remember at least seeing the red marks on Leonardo
As much as I enjoyed 2003, 2012 was the one that had so much love and care and actually felt like it was the great balance of dark and fun moments.
@@isaigutierrez1617 never watched 2012, maybe im gonna give it a try because i hear more saying this butttttttt i really dislike the artstyle.. i dislike al the artsyles they went with after 2003😅
@DragonForceV12 I never loved the art style, but the turtles faces are soooo expressive, and the animation and movement is so lively that it really makes up for it. In my opinion it's the perfect turtles show
Glad you love this. I personally never lost my interest in the 80's turtles, and i really love this game. Hearing sich high praise from you when its not 100% your type of game is a testement to this game and also your flexibility as a reviewer.
Was having a rotten day, but seeing a review about one of my favorite franchise/game by one of my favorite 'Tubers made it a bit brighter. Thanks!
I'm actually kinda glad Arlo did this one, i had totally forgotten this DLC was coming out and the base game was amazing, and Usagi is a personal favourite character whenever he showed up in the TNMT cartoons.
Arlo rlly do be playing every game giving every review but pickmin 4 😭 can’t wait for that video, hope ur recovery is going well and wish the best for you arlo!!
Thank you Shredders Revenge dlc ! Does it launch at midnight or 12pm today?
Unrelated but I don't like how the TMNT have gradually shifted from late teens to prepubescent
Far away from where they were in the 80s
@@chiquita683 exactly
It took a while, but I’m glad the you reviewed TMNT Shredders Revenge. It’s amazing!!!
This was probably my favorite game when it came out. Plays smoother than butter, and hits the nostalgia in all the right ways.
My brother & I just last week finally received our PS5 & Switch TMNT: Shredder's Revenge collector's editions from Limited Run Games (goes perfectly with our Cowabunga Collection collector's editions) and we been having a blast playing this radical love letter to the classic TMNT arcade games that we grew up with.
Dotemu is a godsend for retro gaming fans to put out both Streets of Rage 4 & TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, makes me hope that they do Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Final Fight or Comix Zone next.
Young adult altered shinobi terrapin hype!
I didn't find the game to be too good. I loved the originals back in the day, but the gameplay just isn't much fun anymore.
I absolutely ADORE how Usagi Yojimbo has been such a mainstay in TMNT content since the early days-- and he's not even really a TMNT character.
If anybody out there is curious about what is up with this character, read the Usagi Yojimbo comics by Stan Sakai. Just start anywhere, don't worry about where to begin. The art looks cartoony and maybe kind of simple at first glance but trust me, the series is not kid stuff.
How much is it for Switch DLC 🙏🏽I'm watching the TMNT cartoon now first ever episodes 🤘🏾
Usagi is the star of Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo comic book, a samurai epic taking place in a world of animal people. Because the Sakai and Eastman & Laird were close, a few crossovers happened in their comics before Usagi appeared in the 1987 TMNT cartoon. Usagi was also a semi-recurring character for the 2003 toon, and also popped up in the 2012 show.
Karai is a high-ranking Foot ninja from Japan who took over the New York Foot following the Shredder's demise. She never showed up in the 1987 toon, but was included in the 2003 toon, as well as the 2007 movie and 2012 show. She was also included in some versions of the Tournament Fighters.
Definitely buying it!
Awesome review! 👍🏻 I already love the full game on my Switch so I can’t wait to get this DLC! ✊🏻
Read the Usagi Yojimbo comics Arlo, they are amazing
If you're not a fan of TMNT, you'll still enjoy this game
If you're a fan of TMNT, you'll enjoy this game even more
GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WALLS I'VE BEEN DOING NOTHING BUT WATCHING TURTLE VIDEOS THIS PAST WEEK! INCLUDING BATMAN VS TMNT!
Batman vs tmnt is a classic
@@JotaroKakyoinRequiem13 instant imo! Shredder vs Batman for 3 minutes was one of the best fight scenes I've seen in years
WHY USING DAMN CAPS ALL THE TIME? IT'S NOT LIKE YOU CAN SCREAM AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS IN THE COMMENT SECTION, OR ANYTHING!
@@alexfischer7876 BECAUSE I CAN
They really ripped off Streets of Rage 4 with the "Rogue-lite" survival mode.
Shredders Revenge was the game of the summer for me last year. I don't really have time for games this year anymore(still trying to clear Pikmin 4) but I will definitely buy this DLC just to support the developers because their passion for turtles is genuine and they gave us a quality product last year. I will play this eventually I just do not know when
Someone needs to save the turtles from Nickelodeon so we can have cool games, movies and cartoons again
Tribute Games should make a X-Men game.
2:30 Arlo eating a pizza that's been run over by 2 subway trains 🤢
All of you guys in the comments need to play Streets of Rage 4.
My favorite game of last year! Been looking forward to this DLC for months
Turtles arcade and the NES port was my little brother and my go-to co-op game when we were kids. We even got our mom to play it with us.
So when Shedder's Revenge (and The Cowabunga Collection) dropped you bet we pre-ordered and then just blitzed through the campaign on a nostalgia high. Excellent game and I'm really looking forward to this DLC.
Why this update isn't in mobile version?
When I heard about the DLC I was intrigued, then they showed Usagi and I got excited. I was a little, very small, saddened that Ninjara was back dropping only (was my hope for the other playable), but did show that this team dug DEEP. Looking forward to getting back into it with the DLC.
I'm not even sure they own the rights to Ninjara- I BELIEVE I heard once on the ibternet long ago, so grain of salt and all, that the artist who created her got the copyright to her and made a solo series? So that might make her tricky to navigate around.
@@goranisacson2502 I do remember seeing them stand alone in a comic way way way back when, so very possible. Still, she's there in the BG and I can be happy of at least that. I still would have enjoyed knocking heads with her, but what can ya do? XD
YES. This game was sooooo good. So excited for the DLC
I bought this game while I was so sick with Covid I didn't even feel like getting out of bed.
It made me feel like a kid again. AND THE DLC IS ONLY $8! Like, who does that anymore!?
@@mitwhitgaming7722Bro same, it was so fun it made me forget I was sick at all
Shredder's revenge was a masterpiece but the DLC is a money grab. No new levels, 2 characters and just copying a mode that Streets of Rage 4 had in the base game. I hope they work on a sequel but won't buy this DLC
@@chiquita683 But endless mode. I'm the kind of gamer who is still playing Halo: Reach Firefight because those kinds of gamemodes are _endlessly_ repayable for me.
@@mitwhitgaming7722Its a low effort Rogue like game. You just get stuck in a room and random characters pop in. Not as interesting as the new levels they promised in the Spring when the DLC was first announced. Maybe there is a second game in production and the levels moved there
0:13 Turtles are amphibians not reptiles
I liked it but I love Streets of Rage 4 more
I'm glad Arlo is talking about a TMNT game! 🐢👍
I grew up with the 80s cartoon but I'm so glad I watched the 2012 series many years later, definitely my favourite take on the turtles
I completely forgot this DLC was coming!! I truly loved the base game when it came out, just so much fun
I know nothing about this series but I absolutely love the design of that character that looks like a TMNT-ified Bowser
It's really good!! A instant hood classic
Butternut Squash? Yes Please!
They need to go back and spend more time on Donatello. His slide attack, side special and dodge follow-up all use the exact same animation.
Still none of the girl turtles. :(
For the full feel of the classic beatem up, it feels best on the Switch just because of the fact that it’s a Nintendo console/handheld. Xbox/PC cross platform with one another so joining up is much better. Sony and Nintendo won’t cross play with Xbox and PC unfortunately so they’re both isolated 😞
Also, in Survival, if you die, wait for your group to beat the dimension and you’ll return.
I really need to come back to this game again. It was SUPER fun
Bebop and Rocksteady have ranged attacks, just hold the attack button.
Usagi and Casey Jones are awesome.
You pronounced DOTEMU wrong.. it's not emoo like the bird.. it's M U like emulator.
In my perfect world, there would be a new Arlo video to watch every day.
this game single handly got me back into Beat'em ups
This game is great and soooooo many other amazing beat em ups !!!!!
I got TMNT on pc
Mite have to buy for the Switch oled as well.
Btw , when u taunt , you get a special move ....
As u rank up, you unlock, move specials slots, and more moves....
And outfits, in new dlc.
And high five Raphael using Casey Jones , spoiler alert ⚠️ 📢
River city girls 2
Double dragon 🐉 the new one and Neon
Cobra kai
So many more!
The new dlc in tmnt reminds me of COD zombies , the good days !
It's fun af
I got this game when it released 100%d it and loved it
Thanks to the DLC I rediscovered my Love for this Game!
This game sure LOOKS COOL. It’s not exactly a genre I super… care to play, but this game looks so cool it’s one I would willingly play, if given the chance.
Best game and cartoon of ALL TIME.
TURTLES FIGHT WITH HONOR 🐢..........
I HATE SHREDDERS REVENGE I HATE EVERYTHING I HATE TMNT I HATE NINTENDO - there now that one guy doesn't have to post this
On top of everything else, they even have Casey Jones eating pizza WHILE WEARING HIS HOCKEY MASK lol 10:26
I'm surprised that they brought characters from the Archie comic era of TMNT as background characters.
Genetically irregular Juvenile Testudines who are skilled in the art of ninjutsu.
I love the base game so much I have it on multiple consoles. Also grew up in the 90s
So I didn't know that if you get killed and hang out if your boys survive and make it to the next crystal you resurrect with 33% percent health. It's a low amount of health but it is still pretty awesome because yo can recover. I wish that you could earn extra lives with points. It would make sushi actually make sense to get. Also 100 hit combo, 200 hit combo, and 300 hit combo should trigger something cool to motivate you to not get hit and make it to those really high combo counts. This DLC is super awesome but I think that it would make it way better and reward skilled players to continue through the combo and points system.
So badly wanna play this dlc when I hiy the switch version of the game. I beat the base game on xbox through game pass at launch.
I love it when you get sponsored reviews because I get to hear about games I would never learn about otherwise. Even if I decide it’s not for me it’s a really fun thing.
If you do wanna try some other Turtles media, I would recommend the 2012 animated series. It's really, REALLY good.
I had to drop some love for the thumbnail. Arlo, you’re the CUTEST!
The funny thing about turtles is that, I loved the movie. Loved loved loved. Still love. It is so much better than it has any, any, any right to be
Never liked any other turtle media. Didn't hate it, but just, never cared. The cartoon didn't phase me, the games were, fine, there was just nothing to keep me coming back. But that movie. I don't care who you are. Watch the movie
DLC sounds a lot like Mr. X's nightmare DLC for Streets of Rage 4. Makes sense tho due to DOT Emu having worked on that too.
Didn't mention all the new skins and colors and how to unlock those. Kind of a big missed opportunity.
I just wish the 80s tmnt weren't used everywhere these days, give some spotlight to 2003, 2012 & Rise
I'm glad the DLC has costumes that reference those other shows at least
You should try watching the Batman vs. Ninja Turtles movie. It’s so awesome. I don’t know where you can stream it from though. I had to rent it off of RUclips to see it. It’s rad, though.
I don’t blame you for not taking in the turtle media in my opinion the turtles ended in 2009 with turtles forever Nickelodeon in my opinion, though not as bad, just doesn’t seem to be hitting the mark
OMG Usagi. They added Usagi. Never in my life would I have thought that was going to happen.
I played this game, and I'm surprised at how good it is. All remakes should capture the spirit of the originals and improve upon it like this game does.
I'm convinced, dotemu killed it with streets of rage 4 and this looks just as good if not better thanks to the TMNT paint
Booyakasha
“Oh boy! A new Arlo video!”
*is actually just an Ad/Sponsor*
😢
I really enjoyed the game so far. Looking forward to getting the DLC soon.
I'm not really liking the artstyle, they've got more pixels to work with than the snes turtles games did but somehow this looks a lot worse. The turtles just look so lame.
I don't think you remember how the older games looked my guy. This looks great for modern standarts
