Cammy asking Bison to buy her toys and him shaking his head is too cute
More like she's trying to show Bison the joys of Christmas and he's just not in the right frame of mind.
Also poor anita is lost and donovan is freaking out. my favorite stage. Wish we had the concept art
@@LoneWolf-yu7qc Some of the concept art is in the museum part of the collection.
When in this video?

In case no one has pointed this out yet: When Dan's dad does the demon, the symbol that appears on his back is the kanji for "dad".

The amount of references and easter eggs in this game alone is exactly why it was not only fun to be a capcom fan in the 90s, but it felt rewarding. Like you were part of a niche Fandom, and the devs celebrated the history and love for their games as much as the players did.
If we do get another Marvel vs Capcom, the stages need to be fleshed out with references like this game
yeah 90s capcom was the best.. they really showed a lot of love for their works, even when they don't do all that well financiallu
@@ripplecutter233 Capcom was always at the peak of the gaming industry in one way or another until the early 2010's. It's impressive how many different genres Capcom dominated, they even helped with some Zelda games (the oracle games are some of my favorites from the franchise).
Also impressive that Capcom has created a lot of iconic game women even before Lara Croft was a thing.
@@RandalfElVikingo right? they literally created the strongest woman in the world with the strongest legs in the world.
GOOSE BOOSE IS A CAPCOM FAN???
Okay, here's some SGFMM explanation;
1) The lady mentioned in 0:40 isn't Rose. it's just the same lady who appears at Demitri's stage in Vampire Savior.
2) The food Sodom and Bishamon are sharing is called "Ozouni". a Rice cake soup that Japanese ppl eat at new years day.
3) The Shiba dog and the Buddha statue in 4:22 is reference to Bishamon's stage in every DS series.
4) The cameraman Max mentions in 4:38 is the same cameraman in Blanka's stage in SF2.
5) Actually the bird that Gen is trying to butcher is a stork, I have no explanation on why. the restaurant's name is "GenHanten" btw, Hanten is a traditional way of saying Chinese cuisine in Japan and Korea. meaning this is Gen's Chinese Restaurant.
6) Jon Talbain is munching on a huge roasted pig.
7) It is commonly known that Ryu doesn't have much cosplay combos since he doesn't have much money so he can't afford to buy costumes.
8) as for 10:58 , there is a game called "Suika-wari" commonly played by Japanese at the beach. 1 person gets blindfolded with a bat and other ppl guide him/her where the watermelon is so the blinded player can bash it so everyone can eat it.
9) Fried rice and Ramen is considered as Chinese food in Japan(although technically it's Japanese), That's why Hsienko is serving and delivering those foods as attack. The steel carrying case is popular among Chinese restaurants when delivering such menus.
10) Felicia's combo in 15:38 are Japanese horror monsters. 1st is Bakeneko, a cat-human being. 2nd is Karakasa, a monster disguised as an umbrella. 3rd is Konjac-bou. a monster disguised as a konjac, a jelly type snack popular in Japan.
11) Felicia's combo in 15:50 are, 1st is same as above, 2nd is a Kappa(a mixture of bird, turtle and a frog), 3rd.....is King Kong I guess?
12) The dinosaur in 16:23 is indeed Rimgal from Star Gladiator. He's actually Jun's father resurrected through a body of a T-rex.
22) Ibuki's throw in 22:02 is a Japanese Myth that the feudal Japan landlords sexually harassed women by stripping their Kimono belt in such way.
23) Ibuki's super in 23:16 is a parody of Goemon Ishikawa from Lupin 3rd. she says "I've cut an uninteresting stuff again." a popular line said by the swordsman.
24) Akuma's cosplay combo in 24:14 isn't Leo from Red Earth. it's actually Fighter class from D&D Shadow over Mystara.
25) Akuma's combo finish in 24:27 is a reference to a comedy genre called Manzai. it's like a standup comedy where the comedian tells a joke on a stage in such manner. it seems Akuma has made a terrible joke that made the listener into stone.
26) Akuma has 2 Raging Demon in this game. one is 63214+S, other is the traditional way of P, P, forward, K, S. I have nothing else to say about the latter but it's a must watch.
27) if you finish the opponent with Dan's dead father super, the best finishing effect of whole Capcom FG history will be shown, Enjoy!
Just a couple of corrections and additions:
5) It's probably a crane seeing as Gen uses the Crane Style, as well as Mantis Style.
11) The kappa is specifically Sha Wujing from Journey to the West, who uses a weapon often depicted with a crescent moon blade. The last costume is Gamof from Star Gladiator, who has a similar throw.
24) No, Max was right in that this is meant to be Leo from Red Earth. He has the same head/skull belt and the metal bands on his wrists, and you can even briefly see the lion ears in a couple frames.
25) This is actually a reference to Tōyama no Kin-san, a period drama character. He was a samurai who lived among commoners, but had a sakura tattoo on his arm. He would often come across criminals who would be shocked when he pronounced judgement on them by showing them his tattoo and revealing his position.
another correction, Felicia's 1st combo move is not a bakeneko but of a traditional Japanese woman youkai (without a specific name, just how female ghosts look like in japanese folklore), while after the kappa it was supposed to be a reference to Gamof from Star Gladiator (the kappa is actually a reference to that too, a character named Kappah from the same game series)
as for the "Konjac-bou" thingy I would argue it looks more like Nurikabe (wall yokai)
next, adding on to what the person above me said about 25), it should be a reference to Toyama no Kin-san (the drama) or Toyama Kagemoto (the actual person in japanese history the drama is based on), but putting that aside calling it 'manzai' is simply wrong as the comedy genre you are thinking of should be 'rakugo', where the performer sits on a cushion and tell stories on stage
The Felicia stuff that Max stopped recognizing was her turning into other famous Japanese yokai. They aren't Capcom references, but they're cultural (and fit with Darkstalkers being about monsters preying on humans)
I recognized a kasa-obake (umbrella ghost), a kappa and a nurikabe (wall ghost)
@@StrewthStoatPirate The Kappa-like monster is actually a hidden character in Star Gladiator known as Kappa Nosuke
This is because Felicia herself is a youkai, a bakeneko
@@ZXNovaBoom I don't think Felicia's a bakeneko because she canonically started out more human, but traits of hers being _inspired by_ bakeneko makes some sense (at the very least to supplement her existing abilities, though the shapeshifting could make for a very interesting addition to her kit in a new Darkstalkers)
@@jaredhebert942 Yes, good point. Bakeneko are cats who gained enough power (usually via a combo of age and being close to sources of power) to ascend. The process splits their tail in two partway down and grants them shape-shifting abilities.
They're also apparently horny little bastards, hunting via sex appeal quite often.
This is a gem of a game literally, even the animation on the chibi characters and background are very good
I see what you did there
"this can only exist in the 90s"
That's so depressing dude
I really wish we got shit like this more often
I KNOW RIGHT?!
Twitter only makes it even harder to relive those days. And I wasn’t around for the 90s.
i miss the 90s and 2000s so much man it is bogus
On the other hand, we are having a sort of 90s renaissance, so I wouldn't immediately lose all hope just yet.
There was a period where everyone was into cute stuff. Big head modes, VF Kids, and this. When not everything has to be a flagship AAA-blockbuster, you can do stuff like this.
The sign Ryu and Dan attack you with is from the Son Son Mart stage of Street Fighter Alpha. It's in the very center of the stage behind the crosswalk post.
Don't know what those two dudes do to you in Sakura's super, but you fly back with hearts.
This game is cute and adorable, The sprites are so cute to look at, This game is a treasure. Them as Chibi characters is something we never thought we see. This game is so much fun to sprites, characters, animation and just overall love they put into this. It really sucks that this game doesn't get enough love or attention. Chun, Morrigan and Felicia have such cute models. This game is super charming. I love all the references they have of characters from past games just chilling out and having fun. What more could you ask for
dan and felicia are the cutest
@@animal1nstinct394 All of them are adorable
IKR?! I am sad that there's so few Cute and Chibi Fighting Games. There's so much to love and no other game is quite like it!!
@@TheAyanamiRei I feel like the only reason why Gem Fighter Mini Max was made is because sometimes arcade ports on PlayStation didn't always run great, which is a problem for games that have complex button inputs. So to make up for that, Gem Fighter has a MUCH easier learning curve that most fighters, replacing complexity with charm. However now that the PS 2 has ended, games like Gem Fighter are no longer necessary, because arcades are much easier to port now.
@@orangeslash1667 Well I mean, you COULD make the game more Complex, while keeping the elements that made it great. Like Cute Japanese Artsyle that would be WAY more popular now. Costume Changes. Etc.
Hell they could throw up as an Indie Game!
I remember as a kid, I wanted to see a Marvel vs Capcom version of this so badly. I loved this game when I was a kid.
it would definitely sell in this age tbh
We need new chibi fighting games with 3 buttons! Hell if I knew how to make games I would have done it myself with some couple other dudes
@@djsiddiki3430 theres some cps2 rom hackers out there but i dont know how far people have gotten, umk3 has had a scene that added some secret characters/ stages
@@navienta Those CPS2 hackers are good but nobody cared enough to hack Gem Fighter
@@djsiddiki3430 Actually there are some cute indie games. There's Nitroplus Blasterz: Heroines Infinite Duel, Waku Waku 7, and Them's Fighting Herds.
It’s physically impossible for Max to talk about this game without mentioning how charming it is (and indeed, it’s charming as hell).
It’s physically impossible for max to talk about this game without talking about this game
@@wildsnack2080 and it’s physically impossible for Max to talk about this game without opening his mouth and making sounds like a fast talking Jeff Goldblum.
Hol up!!!
At 22:25 She cuts you ,and says "matta tsumarain koto.."
That's a refference too Goemon Ishikawa the 13th, of Lupin the 3rd fame. Just in case anyone wondered what otaku stuff Capcom was into in the 90's.
Man i miss this kind of Capcom so much i can tell they had a LOT of fun makeing this treat of a Child-Entry fighter i wonder if they were inspired by Virtua Fighter Kids or not?
Sorry not trying to be a dick but I've never seen someone spell making "makeing" lmfao
POCKET FIGHTER is one of the most passionate fighting games, ever made. I remember playing the hell out of it back in the 1990s. It was from the era where Capcom experimented and created gold. It's a classic gem of a fighter.
Hsien-ko was my main. Max missed her umbrella super that basically was a self battery and raising your skills to the max.
Thank you I'm like that's my favorite super and it wasn't here
He did it on stream but for whatever reason it’s not in the video.
When I played this game for the first time back in 1998 I was so hooked on the whole presentation, charm and love put into this game. To this day It is still the most charming game I've ever played. Period.
With Sakura and her smashing the watermelon is a japanese summer tradition where you would go to the beach, blindfold someone and let him try to smack a watermelon with a stick/bat. Felicia has straight up japanese Yokai (Spririts,ghosts) costumes. Ibuki's reference where she cosplays a guy and spins the girl is an old "game" that was played in edo-japan's brothels.
Thank you I was about to type this.
24:20
He judges to Dan.
He transforms “Kin-san of Toh-yama”.
Kin-san is old japanese fictitious judge.
The drama that themes him is popular in japan.
When his judgement,
he shows his tattoo to prisoner.
This game is very important to me since I first learned how to do motion inputs on it. I probably wouldn't be as into fighting games as I am now thanks to it.
15:35
She transforms to japanese monsters(they are called “Yo -kai”).
First is maybe “Rokuro-kubi(she has long neck)”,
I can't checking properly cause it's not has much featuring.
second is “Kara-kasa(it's umbrella monster)”,
finally “Nuri-kabe(it's wall monster)”.
Capcom paid so much attention to detail back in the day. The talent and dedication was through the roof.
Max at some point you should go through the Running Battle stage on the PS1 version of the game, that one is PACKED with references
14:57 That's not _any_ monkey. That's Data from Megaman Legends! She even says "Data!" while charging. Holy shit I can't believe I never noticed that before.
From what I've seen, Max only played the Classic and X series?
I remember playing this in my late 50s. Boy them were the days.
Damn. I hope you live a longer and fulfilling life. If not, I hope it was fulfilling at the very least.
16:36 She's got a can can super? Haha, that's hilarious- and once again, adorable. 😊
This game warms my heart. Capcom lore hits me right in the feels .
All of the chibi cuteness... And Ryu has THE MOST BADASS VOICE HE EVER HAD, INCLUDING HIS CURRENT VERSION.
I played this gem on my ps1 and there is a mode called Running Battle, is like a survival mode and is full of capcom references, you can try it max, u wont be dissapointed
The chibiness is wonderful. Ibuki's samurai and geisha auto combo is a hoot!
The game definitely is charming. I could see them bringing this art style back if they did something like a Nintendo vs. Capcom. Morrigan using frying pans reminded me of Peach doing the same in Smash. The transformations would work really well with characters like Kirby and Link morphing into their different forms and reincarnations.
What's crazy about this game is despite how cute and adorable it is, the insane amount of work for the sprites. These sprites are on par with Darkstalkers with the amount of morphing and creativity. It was a game no one asked for or expected but beloved. Shame they never made a sequel, imagine with DMC or RE characters.
I'm surely quite late for this but, Felicia'sn second combo (the weird one), they're yokais (japanese folkloric creatures), a licking ghost, a walking umbrella, a wall yokai, a kappa (the bird one); I dunno if the grabbing baboon is a yokai too.
It would be awesome if CAPCOM dicided to do a remake with new characters (I'd love to see what would do Anakaris here).
Btw, fun fact: practically, it can be done a characters' chain (each character searchs for an especific character on their stories) if you start with Ibuki.
Ibuki -> Sakura
Sakura -> Ryu
Ryu -> Tessa
Tessa -> Hsien-Ko
Hsien-Ko -> Zangief
Zangief -> Felicia
Felicia -> Ken
Ken -> Morrigan
Morrigan -> Chun Li
Chun Li -> breaks the chain (searches for Felicia)
Dan -> Sakura
Akuma -> Hsien-Ko
Pocket Fighter was very fun. I'm whooping ass with smile while the characters are midgets. Definitely a hidden gem with great imagination and props to Capcom to add it to the collection.
Imagine how much they could do and reference if they made a Pocket Fighter Marvel vs Capcom.
20:58
Zangief got mad with the 📰 and flipped the table. 😂
I play this on my phone. It's so much fun. Most characters have some transformation related to their story. Felicia wants to be a showgirl. Hsien Ko is looking for a job and she gets one from Zangief and is paid in food, Chun Li is just working as a cop and Ibuki is pretty much a weeb who wants to visit Tokyo so she gets a bunch of traditional japanese stuff
Sakura does "Suikawari" with the watermelon. A summer game where you are blindfolded, spun around and then you have to try to split open a watermelon. It's kinda like hitting a pinata.
I missed this game so much, in Asia, it has always been called Pocket Fighter, and I prefer that name much better, it's catchy and cute. It was literally means a fighter that can fit into your pocket, because it's tinny, just like how Pokemon got named, full name as in Pocket Monsters.
jill and chun are my two favorite capcom characters, together as one makes this game immediately a 10/10
I would be a million times more excited about a sequel to Gem Fighter or Puzzle Fighter than I am for Street Fighter 6...
You could make the most wonderful Capcom-themed point and click adventure game with these backgrounds
He missed Hsien Ko on the wreath. She riding a sleigh with 2 pandas pulling. 3:15
if i remember correctly, every stage if not, most of it have multiple background change depend on the fighting character...
God, I wish Capcom would make another of these. Not just because it's cute and funny, but because it was pretty accessible as far as fighting games go. I'm terrible at most fighting games, and was still able to have a pretty good time with it growing up.
I wish Capcom would instead release the chibi games as Mario Party type games called "Gem Party",
where players can choose from modes like "Puzzle Fighter", "Pocket Fighter", "Pinball Fighter", "Pachinko Fighter", "Dance Fighter", etc.
Random fun fact: Like in Puzzle Fighter, Dan only gets red gems with his attacks.
So, to power up his other movements he has to take the gems from his opponents.
22:53 This is actually a bit funny, since later in Street Fighter X Tekken, she works with Rolento to get the Box of Pandora.
The akuma reference for the theater thing is a type of story told by only one person that interpret everyone while just in sitting position. I forgot the name...
Man I used to rent this game like every other week from Blockbuster along with X Men vs SF. Absolutely love this game man, it always puts me in a good mood.
Felicia transforms for the piledriver are first kappa from stargladiator and then Gamof Gohgry from star gladiator for the piledriver like he did in stargladiator
this was one of my favorite games as a kid. I just bought it for my daughter, on her PS3. I'm surprised she likes it more than some of the other classic games I got her.
This was one of my childhood names, Indefinetely didnnot knew how to fight or who all the characters besides the street fighter ones were, but this game just was so much fun for no reason for me and some friends
This is easily one of my favorite fighting games.
Please, do more Pocket Fight vídeos!!!! I really love this game!!
Oh I remember me and my neighbor used to play this when we were kids. They look so cute but the competitiveness is real between us lol
As someone who played alot of puzzle fighter as a kid, I always wondered what would this game look like if it played like ana actual street fighter game. Then capcom gave up pocket fighter. This was a street fighter game I played heavily and it never got boring especially played with other people
I see no comments talking about that Dan only gives you Red Gems when dealing damage (just like he does in Puzzle Fighters)
Felicia also turns into a bunch of yokai. The big gray slab is the nurikabe, a living wall creature. There's also a kappa and a tengu and an umbrella obake in there too!
Are the nurikabe the inspiration behind the Twomps of Super Mario Bros. games?
@@Dracobyte They are! And the kappa inspired the koopas!
It's not just some regular kappa, it's Sha Wujing(In Japanese culture he is a kappa)
@@weihuatang171
bzzt as much as you like Chinese culture this one was actually a reference to Kappah Nosuke, a character from the game series "Star Gladiator" so no, it was not Sha Wujing like you said
@@kelvincha5492 Kappah Nosuke is one of many japanese SWJ. His weapon is unique and every chinese or japanese knows that.
IIRC, Akuma also has an alternate Raging Demon: Tap out the buttons a la Darkness Illusion to see brief flashes of some of the hits instead of them all being obscured. As a standard move, he also has the little hop-into-aerial-attacks move (Hyakki Shuu)(go D-DF-F-UF, then hit a button in midair, when close, or just nothing at all for various moves).
Hope I could get this to the top for visibility. The command is indeed Punch, Punch, Forward, Kick, Special.
I remember a video game magazine back in the day that had all the backgrounds of this game in print. I spent so much time staring at every detail in amazement.
This game has just the wildest love to the detail in even the walking animations (Tessa walking left is probably my favourite of those)
I love Pocket Fighters as a child. Mine was japanese but I wasn't a Capcom kid either so these references flew over my head. But as I grew older I started recognizing all these references.
same! i did get some myself but not all of them haha i have to say sites like fighters generation helped me to learn a lot about other capcom games. its a shame i never got a darkstalkers copy as a child
I never knew I needed to see tiny cammy with bison as a dad but here we are
26:20
The character that on Dan's dad's back is written in kanji.
It means “Dad(父/chichi)”😂
I love how that first reference is almost totally hidden unless you super jump
This and Puzzle Fighter is what is the selling point of this collection for me. Cyberbots was just icing on the cake.
The thrid batch of Felicia's transformations are yokais
Oddly enough, this was the game that introduced me to darkstalkers. All this time I thought MVC was just turning these chibi into normal sized people lmao
Pocket Fighter is cute by itself but what makes it even better are the various homages to Capcom franchises with fighter movesets and how characters will just turn into other Capcom characters while performing attacks
It's so charming. I think Chun Li straight up morphs into Mega Man and shoots with the Buster for one of her moves
It's Felicia (as seen in the thumbnail), but you're absolutely right. That gives the game so much charm.
That'd be Felicia (the catgirl from Darkstalkers) who gets the Mega Man costume and Mega Buster; but Chun-Li getting Jill & a bunch of weapons from Resident Evil is also respectable.
Years ago upon your recommendation from the Ken Legacy, I downloaded the Super Gem Fighter PSOne classic for the PS3 and had a blast. I’m so happy the game was included in the collection but a little sad it’s harder to find online matches for it compared to Streer Fighter II and Vampire Savior. I get it, but still a little frustrated.
Replaying this in the collection I forgot how high up it is on my list of favorite fighting games. Maybe right behind SF3. I love the core mechanics with the stripped down button scheme and item attacks, and the whole thing is a treat for anyone who grew up with Capcom.
OMGGG Me and My mom would play this game SOOOO MUCH. This, puzzle fighter, and Bust a Groove
One of the first fighting games I've played. Also one of the main reasons why I bought the collection. An absolute gem of a game.
Yeah, they all so adorable. Especially felicia, she's so small.
Akuma's grabbing move is a reference to Mito Koumon, a magistrate that goes incognito. Showing his tattoo of blossomed cherries is a form to prove his novelty (and for pursuing the evildoers). Hence the opponent being petrified.
Anji Mito is a walking reference to Koumon, since he's a high authority of the Colony going around the world as incognito getting info.
I appreciate this information. Always wondered the meaning but took it like the opponent was intimidated that Gouki had tattoos in this move. “This guy is so badass!” Kind of vibes, which fits him.
20:31 Zangief basically does the Evolution there.
This game has a lot of charm. I love it when Dan sings karaoke so badly his opponent is petrified
Never in my life playing video games did I know I wanted Capcom characters in a Chibi style! This has so much charm, personality and adorable that it’s so hard not to love!
4:05
It's not ramen.
It's “Mochi(japanese rice cake)”.
This game was made with so much love. It has so much reference with other Capcom fighting games
no one ever noticed oro sleeping on the ski lift lmao
Oh yeah. I remember dope fighting game backgrounds.
This was the part of the collection I was most excited for.
3:42 "Yun and Yang are like playing 1080p Avalanche and shit" - Maximilian Dood.
Crazy that Max pointed that out. I never knew that was Yun and Yang until now
@@ADTribalChildSame here.
Felicia actually turns into a series of Monsters of Japanese Folklore known as the Yokai. Most Notably the Kappa, A turtle like creature with a bowl of water in its head, This yokai is also featured in many other forms of media, including Animal Crossing as a boat captain. She also turns into an umbrella-like Yokai called Kasa-Obake, an umbrella ghost. One sprite appears to be a Yuki Onna, the white robed girl with black hair. The brown haired sprite and the grey sandwich shaped thing I don't know the names of but I'm sure it's all somehow tied in together. Once you learn just a little Japanese Folklore it's amazing how often you see it show up in everything from Anime to Videogames to Card Games and all other sorts of media. Very cool they did this!
Mr Karate in Art Of Fighting is also a Tengu, another form of Yokai. I've got very limited knowledge of all this stuff but it's fascinating once you research it. Would be really cool growing up in Japan and hearing these different creepy stories of ghosts and monsters.
Dan's dad is a straight up tengu or oni as well, with red skin and long-ass nose.
The cultural references are why so many of the older Japanese games and other media went completely over the heads of Westerners back in the day, a real shame because there's so many gems.
Pocket fighter in 2022 makes my heart feel good.
At 24:26 I'm pretty sure Akuma turns into a Kabuki performer here. I think Akuma tells a pun in Japanese here (while I can't translate it completely myself, repetition of the phrase "いわせて" makes me think it's a pun or a play on words) and it's so corny it dumbfounds the opponent and stuns them. The supporting evidence I have is that the other move he has while in this outfit is him pulling out some kind of sign that looks like a house that makes me think it's, like, a sign with show times and the name of the performance he's putting on and stuff.
Gosh, this brought back so many memories. Whenever my FG friend would sleep over we'd rent this from Blockbusters.
I remember playing this way back. I love the references to some popular culture and what jobs each Street Fighter character would be if they were normal people. lol Also the references to the other Capcom franchises and games were pretty cool. I like how they transform and become characters from other games like Resident Evil, Red Earth and Star Gladiator. It's fun seeing everyone in cute chibi form and the stuff happening in the background is funny and hilarious. The attacks are also funny. Good and fun game that's definitely worth checking out for fighting game fans and Capcom fans. It's also very welcoming to newcomers for having cartoon humor.
You can move as the dragon after you transform max...
I remember playing this game on a disc that had allot of street fighter games on it as a child and this definitely reminded of how much I enjoyed it.
Akuma has another version of Raging Demon where you can see him attacking with his costume forms
Been playing this game since I bought the Japanese Saturn version on release. 25+ years later, and it's still entertaining and so cool to see all the love Capcom put in this game that they had to know wouldn't be a huge hit.
11:20 Not a soccer player, its a Japanese soft ball player outfit, and she's sliding, as a reference that she's trying to steal 1st after a hit.
Oh, and the flying pig you missed on the snow stage was from the game Son Son (an old NES game from Capcom, like really, really old, that almost nobody remembers now but it was the first successful game Capcom ever did). In fact, if you see some random character flying on a cloud in any stage at any given time, it is a reference to the game Son Son.
So I've heard you guys like chibi versions of characters fighting each other well here you go! I remembered when I 1st played this game in street fighter alpha anthology and was like this is really adorable. It was also the very 1st time I discovered the red Earth magician girl so thanks gem fighter!
Birdie crying behind the double doors of the bathroom is a callback to you fighting him in a bathroom in Alpha 2.
The original home port of Pocket Fighter had a special panoramic stage for its Survival Mode that had even more references.
This is a really solid collection, i heavily recommend it. Darkstalkers 1 is a little infuriating but the rest are really good
Rented this once back in the day what a fun time not to mention the cameos and reference including the one with dam pulling Mr karate as a hamer
Ragging demon has two animation. If you do the short cut version of half circle back + special, you get the normal blank screen, but if you actually do the punch, punch, forward, kick, then special, you get the animation of akuma attacking flashing.
I love 2 things I noticed.
1. Ibuki turning into Rolento for her knife throw special. Rolento then becomes her partner in SFxT
2. Akuma turns into Leo in one of his combos which as we know he becomes Lion Akuma in Sfv
