Next time try to use Leo's super at close range before the fists spread out. Even if blocked the chip damage is insane. Or at least that's how I remember it from about 20 years ago. 😁
Fun fact Blockbuster Video had a competition back in the mid 90's. The games included TMNT tournament fighters, Clay fighters and NBA Jam

I actually entered this when I was in 6th grade and won for my hometown in Massachusetts.
The winners got to go to the next round and play 1v1 against another local winner in NBA Jam. I lost in this round so I don’t know what happened next, but it was a fun experience!
The one I entered had TMNT Tournament Fighters, NBA Jam, and Donkey Kong Country. I didn't make it past the first round as I had a poor showing in TMNT Fighters that day.

Kind of surreal seeing tournament fighters have an online mode like this. Especially, being someone who was there for when this game originally released on the SNES. Games really have come a long way, man. 😊
Still have my SNES still works too. Calssic Cart and Donkeykong country. Street fighter 2 turbo. Im 24 too so i didnt grow up with it. But my babysitter way back had one so i got to grow up with playing a goated system.

Max rage quitting faster than lowtiergod
The way the Super Meter works in Tournament Fighters feels like the AGGRESSOR from Mortal Kombat Trilogy. You gain meter by hitting your opponent, and you gain even more meter if the opponent is blocking all your attacks.
It is so wild seeing this game played legitimately, after I only ever played it on emulator and against myself and friends. We were just kids messing around, no clue what we were doing, so these wild strats and cheesy infinites, seeing just how unbalanced the game really is...
.... If I had known earlier I would have been INVINCIBLE back then!
I used to play it myself as a kid. Is still pretty wild to see it played though...
My brother just got this game for the switch, and it rushes nostalgia for both of us!

I was hoping Max would end up fighting an Armaggon in this video and immediately realize the funny shark's a cheap piece of shiet.

Oh lord, the memories!! I remember playing this for hours and hours with my brothers. Abusing the hell out of Shredder's Aura Crusher, Chromedome's Chrome Spark and long limbs, and Wingnut's Moon Buster.
Some of the supers can do some pretty nutty things too. Like Wingnut's Mad Spectre. Placed just right, it can outright kill a full health bar. If even the slightest bit of damage is on before, Leo's super will kill if you get enough hits before dizzy. Chromedome's super at point blank range will kill if any damage is on.
Yeah, do Mad Spectre right above a fool so both directions hit them and they're deader than Shredder without a head… er.

Too be fair, Tournament Fighters can be a super cheap as all HELL fighting game lol One thing I remember on the original SNES version the AI is CHEAP AS ALL HELL!

Beating him in story mode was really hard, I remember that I had to use Raphael and spam His horn drill attack in order to make cheap damage and then win.
Damn it everytime when i play as Shredder from now on, and i use his "dash uppercut", i will always hear RAW HOOKER.
Now you know how I felt when I was younger and someone said it.
Armagon is the king of cheap, hes banned in most tournements because of that corner setup
He also seemingly has no recovery on his DP. So if that set up is air tight that means it is an infinite, right?

I actually remember first seeing this game on the SNES way back in first grade at this rec center across the street from my elementary school. Don't think I ever got to actually play it. Apparently, there are characters in this game with safe, invincible dp's which is hilarious. It still blows my mind that there aren't a dozen TMNT fighting games.
You should check out how ridiculous (and tournament banned) the hidden boss characters are, Rat King and Karai.

Man I love these games so much. This was my childhood!! Easily some of my favorite content to watch when it’s time for the turtles. So happy they are back!!
I remember playing this game on Super Nintendo. The super moves works differently than other fighting games. Here is how:
1- The more you attack your opponent, the more you get close to full super.
2- By "attack" either you succeeded to hit your opponent or your opponent blocks your attacks, you'll get the full super buy just hitting your opponent.
3- Your super can go reversely. If you're not hitting your opponent for a while, you'll see your super is getting lower.

Also, the lower your health is, the faster it increases.

why there hasn't been an updated Tournament Fighters,
i'm not sure, they could easily make it 2v2 , with about 25-30 characters ,
plus some Guest DLC characters that were part of some comic book crossovers .

I could totally see a new TMNT fighting game with all of the Nickolodean version of the cartoon introducing so many cool characters back to the franchise. I would buy that in a heartbeat. The graphics and voice actors would need to be from that series but damn man it would be so cool. It’s time. The Turtles, Splinter, Casey, April, Karai, Jimbo, Punk frogs, Metalhead, Slash, Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, Baxter, Rat King, Dad Pound, Fish Face, Toka, Razaar, Leather head, wing nut, mondo gecko, the pulverized, Tragg, newtralizer, cockroach terminator, creep, pizza face, Armaggon, triceraton, and many more.

Max, just so you know... The super meter is completely offensive based. You build it by landing hits (blocked or not), you lose a bit of the meter if you take a hit. So basically, you build the super faster by not getting hit, and attacking your opponent as much as possible.
Im not playing the online garbage but im having a blast with my two boys playing together in the same living room
If only this original, old style Ninja Turtles fighting game was remade by Arc System Works. Such a dream, never to happen.

This is the game I was most looking forward to in this collection and it definitely lives up to the love I gave it when I first played the original SNES version.
I suck so bad at TF haha. I literally set the computer to 0 and still got my ass kicked on the 3rd fight (Wingut). That bastard blocked everything and seemed to know every move I was trying to make. Managed to button mash into the Cyclone move (a few times) that Leo does - Wingnut ducked under it everytime and crouch punched me out of the move. I can't even imagine how bad I was at the game when I was a kid. I had the SNES version, and it's the only one I've played out of the collection so far. I watched my brother get his ass kicked on the NES and Genesis version also, so I'm assuming it's going to be just as bad for me.
I miss the age of random dank Fighters of several fighting licenses. I miss toshinden 3 and others that dared to be different and throw their hat in.
While the collection is good, but i myself do have some personal nitpicks about it, at least as of right now,
until Digital Eclipse and Konami comes and fixes some of these things:
- No in-game reset option
- No option for that Game Boy DMG green screen for the GB games. (While i have nothing against the BW screen, it's still nice to have some options)
- Absolutely unbearable lag on both arcade games when trying to play them in the Online mode. (Tournament Fighters SNES and apparently also Hyperstone Heist are okay, what i've heard anyways).
Those are just some of the things i'm not particulary fond of in the collection as is.

It’s weird to watch max play a game I loved as kid and watching him try and figure it all out again. Not sure if he ever figures out it’s normals that build meter.
I only got to play the NES version where Shredder has this a throw where it looks like he's tickling the Turtles. Sometimes when I'm wrestling with my kids, I'd pull out that move.
Max is so powerful he is able to successfully use 6 buttons in a game that only has 4 buttons.
9:43 - I think your super move builds up faster when you're lower on health. Chrome Dome was gaining Super as fast as you were until his health dipped below half, then it started going up faster, and around a quarter, it started skyrocketing. And when Mikey got low on health, same thing.

If you've ever noticed for every version of tournament fighters, there's a different turtle on each cover. Leo's on the NES version, Don's on the SNES version, and Raph's on the Genesis version. Mikey is the only turtle that didn't get a cover. Imagine if they made a new tournament fighters game and put him on the front. That would be insane.

Even though the SNES version is better, the genesis version of TMNT Tournament Fighters has a special place in my heart. Can't wait to get this collection so I can play both versions! Especially online. They should definitely remake Tournament Fighters with rollback!

Then just switched to the Dome guy to finish my secret boss fight, and it was rough
There is another Donnie move that I found it was when he just doing Hip hop and it was a hard combo like I randomly tried any buttons

@@kenzie1989 Also, Leo, Mikey, April and Shredder are in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Also, all four turtles are in Brawlhalla from some crossover event before All-Star Brawl came out. I think they were character skins for preexisting characters in the game.

Tournament Fighters on SNES was definitely my favorite fighting game growing up. I remember beating story mode on the easiest setting though never tried it on the hardest setting. Definitely plan on getting the Cowabunga Collection later on. I haven't played a lot of these games in years and would be fun to revisit the turtles.
