    My opinion is to approach extended fasting as you would if you were in training for a sport. The body should be trained to function on ketos and not glucose. That's the hardest part as you can really feel sick as you go through withdrawal. Give yourself months to adjust So now you are ready..Enjoy the 'high' you will feel. Stay focused. Good luck.

      What is the recipe

    • @sheila7814
      @sheila7814 Год назад +3

      @@marquita3058 I use 2 1/4 cups of hard wheat [sometimes I change this up by the ratio, but I like: 1 1/4 c hard red, 1/2 c spelt, 1/2 c hard white; when I want it even nuttier tasting, I use more spelt and less hard white]. Grind into flour. Add 1 tsp salt, mix well. In a separate bowl, take 1 tb active yeast, add 1/4 c room temp water (warm, not hot) and a tsp or less of sugar to activate the yeast. Set aside while you get the rest ready. Once it is bubbly, it is ready to add to the mixture. In a separate bowl, take 1/2 c warm (not hot) water and mix in 1/4 c cooking oil, 1 egg, and 1/4 c honey if you prefer sweeter. [I use minimal sugar because we don’t use much in our house]. Mix this liquid mixture and then add it to the flour. Add the yeast mixture. Mix all well and knead about 10 min. If it feels dry, you can add more water until you get a nice soft dough. Cover in a lightly oiled bowl and let rise until double in height. Roll on to a lightly floured board and lightly shape into a loaf. Pull sides toward middle and ends toward middle, pinch. Place in a loaf pan and bake at 350-375 until nice and brown…. In my oven that is about 35 minutes. Makes a nice loaf that lasts about 6 days if we eat a slice a day. We love it!

    He acknowledges that dairy is an issue and is also cautious around raw milk, he should research what pasteurisation does to the milk. People with a ‘dairy intolerance’ can tolerate raw milk due to the good bacteria which cancels out the bad bacteria. The good bacteria gets killed off during pasteurisation.

    • @elisemiller13
      @elisemiller13 11 месяцев назад

      @lw5871 I suspect he knows. He didn't recommend pasturerized, the question was about Raw and he cautioned you know your source to avoid problems. He also recommended sheep or goat milk for a reason ,and not too often. Just because a food is "tolerated" doesn't mean it's necessarily good for you.

    Dr. Hyman looks older since I been watching him. But I am sure he is in good health and that is important. But a lot of these health guru’s look old and I think it’s because they are way way too thin. My mom was 93 and she was on the heavier side and she was beautiful. When she walked in a room she lit it up! I do not think being skinny is going to make you look young at all. These goatee’s they wear makes them look worse. I do not want to look like they sucked the life out of me. But I love watching Dr. Hyman. He has excellent information!

    The only things I would say about anything when it comes to what you eat, it food allergy testing. You could be eating something that is inflammatory to you and you don’t even know it. Just because broccoli is good it may not be good for you. Allergies come and go is well, so annually testing is beneficial. Inflammation is the cause of ALL disease

    I like you Mark can loose weight easily. I am thin 5’8, 135 lbs and feel good at 69. I have always had a higher cholesterol reading. New doctors who see my test results and have no idea of how active I am tell me I am going to have a heart attack with blood pressure of 100/68 and a pulse rate of 70. I exercise 3 miles up and down the hills of Austin 3-4 times a week along with yoga and light weight training.
    They suggested I stay away from flax or coconut oil, which I add to my veggie smoothie after fasting for 16 hours. If I do not add some type of fat, I feel hungry. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 🥰

My doc insisted on statins which I resisted although Aggatson score is elevated I feel soooo much better than my previous high carb diet. High fat is the way to go. Ps I drink 1 tbs of olive oil and fish oil daily.

    These centurions usually have a strong social structure, clean air, great water, wine from the best grapes, healthy daily movement of the body ETC. The data from these people have nothing from those of us that are aging in a city with no family members around , survive on a small budget, and live in a city such as San Diego.

    There is another monitor...we are conditioned to ignore it. For example...ask yourself how you guessed the correct foods before she named them. The monitor is your body. ...Be still. The clues; your nose slightly runs when you eat it, you cough after eating it, your joints hurt after eating it. Your s5omach growls...your tonsils collect it and your throat feels rough or you cough when you try to sing. You have been avoiding it for some reason or the other. You crave it.
    All ( generally, in perspective and context) has been given to us. We have a hard time believing what the group has taught us. The group are the recipients of funds or power. Un altered . Nature is ok. The ugly, bug ridden dull, less sweet fruit was ours. We changed it but cannot adapt to it. 😢 Evolution cannot keep up with what we have done to food.
    If you have to hear it from a Dr. Then here........ 1:45:45

    I find it hard to respect a “medical professional” that constantly bashes and makes fun of the specific diet someone chooses to eat. Maybe veganism isn’t for you. That’s fine. However, I do have a problem with false information this guest speaker is spewing. How about providing some scientific evidence with that bashing.
    My mother is an 87 year old vegan of over 65 years. She is independent, works the family cleaning business and takes one pill.
    I grew up vegan from the age of 5. I’m 5’7”, have all my teeth, etc. I never had a weight or health issue until I changed my diet to include processed foods, dairy products and sugar. My mother is healthier than I am.
