My crazy story. 64 years old, don’t drink, don’t smoke, no recreational drugs. Last year got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Ductal Adenocarcinoma which ranks as one of the top two deadliest cancers a human can get. So a 9 1/2 hour surgery, 9 day hospital stay, followed up with 6 months of chemotherapy and I’m now after my first post chemotherapy treatments cancer free. Keep fighting for the cure.

You say you don' t drink, smoke, do drugs. But have you ever? Now, sure, you don't. But what about before, during youth?
If not its just another example of genes that can be activated for some reason or, - lets not forget this - one is over exposed to products that can cause cancer. Many just get out of the market, banned - YEARS after their use. (coincidence?). We also smoke second hand (a lot of packages per day) and we inhale car fumes.

I quit sodas more than 20 years ago, and my blood pressure was back to normal within 2 weeks. Gave up anything that has an ingredients list I can't pronounce. Dropped salt about the same time. Quit sugar 10 years ago - honey is my only sweetener. I'm now 75, haven't needed to see a doctor in years, and am disgustingly healthy with low blood pressure, good circulation and no worries. Only shop the outer edge of a supermarket, read every lable, and focus on non-GMO, organic, and home-grown food for a better life.

A very basic lifestyle but they knew everything they were eating. They canned tomatoes and ate apples from their trees. Too many people just expect everything now. I tried again and again and it’s not too difficult and stressful. Love Dr. Li’s educational approach as opposed to ‘ follow this diet or that diet religiously’
He lays out the nutrient positives to hundreds of plant foods, includes acceptance of quality grass fed pastured animal products and wild caught Pacific salmon and encourages choices among the plant based and acceptable animal/ fish options.
I am addicted to following his Master Class videos to find out ‘ what walnuts do, what beet juice does, what pastured eggs do’ etc etc. I love knowing beyond what is “ bad” and what plant based actually looks like. He simply advocates WFPB ( not vegan, paleo, keto etc) and shows how stunning plants are for our bodies.
I eat 90% plants, 10% animal products ( very few and very narrow choices, grass pastured eggs, a llttle milk in my coffee my mornings would be sad w/o whole milk froth, no sugar plain organic greek yogurt, a few servings of wild caught Pacific salmon)….absolutely No added sugar, but a little 80% dark dark chocolate
Loving the foods I am eating and also shook off benign heart arrhythmia and am maintaining 115 weight without even thinking about it
Thank You Dr. Li for the fascinating education on nutrition without pushing a specific diet that cuts out entire groups of food groups……you give us the best paints and leave the easel and imagination to the student

Exactly! I’m pretty sick of all the “RUclips doctors” pushing the keto diet relentlessly and “demonizing” fruits, when there isn’t any scientific evidence supporting that keto is the best diet for health and longevity. Just look at all the centenarians and supercentenarians in the Blue Zones. They don’t practice any keto and each Blue Zone has different diets of their own. So it’s pretty ridiculous and unscientific to push keto like it’s some silver bullet for the best health and longevity. I take everything with a grain of salt, unless there is irrefutable scientific evidence that supports any kind of health claims on keto p, vegan, or carnivore.

My mom even got our local church to put some plain grape juice in the communion trays, so "recovering alcoholics can have communion without being triggered to drink again." Just separate from the wine traditionally used. Even though that was only a Tbs or so. Make clear which is which so folks can quietly choose for themselves what to have.

I am a chef and more, educated in social sciences. I always belived in fastening, not over eating. Intermittent fastening, diciplined meals...I eat what I feel for, I never took any weight and have same body measures as when I was 17 years old. I almost never climbed a scale, dont measure my size. I do smoke, I drink alcohol but i never did any drugs. I cook all my food myself, never drink milk and avoid sugar. I am almost 60 yrs old, people believe I am in my late thirties or early forties. I eat everything I wish, sleep 8 hrs at least and I am considered to have a good energy and just a good go. I am not fanatic but: I refuse over- processed oils, soda's, light products. I am a Mediterranian diet supporter. And fasten two times ten days a year, mainly to cleanse my body and especially lungs, also in order to give my body a chance. I am born with cholesterol factor, and my cholesterol rockets without medication. We have it in my family. Yet, my doctor says my liver is soft as a babies, and my physical condition is that of 25- year old sportsmans. I bicyckle, not able to run any longer. I am happy and contented foodie.
I think this is so very genetic and in a way predestined to be the one I am and do. My goal is not to be youngish or not even young looking, I am more into being able to do things I like. Traveling, hiking, fishing, climbing, photography, painting. Especial thanks for one specific sentence: do what you enjoy !
Relax, enjoy life, think sometimes of your earthfile and consuption. And I always keep my grandfathers teaching in mind: one day a week, just do nothing, relax, enjoy life, take a cigarette, drink, have sex, take a nap. Look around and see all the good!
