I have never had the ability to burp, its a rare condition called Retrograde Cricopharyngeus Dysfunction. Many of the doctors I've seen don't understand this condition, some even chuckle and reply something like "have you tried something fizzy", or one doctor even said "no, that's impossible, you wouldn't function without burping". I just wanted to comment to raise awareness to this very rare condition. I suffer from many GI issues, and have been misdiagnosed with GERD, IBS, Dyspepsia, etc., as the symptoms very closely relate. I hope I can get this fixed soon... its been 22 years

Mee to..I when ever something I get the feeling to burp but it doesn't come......it comes in smaller burps.....instead of one large one like others.....and sometimes I also get liquid while I burp
I also have r-cpd. To be honest though, I don't think the condition is that rare, just unknown! As more awareness is brought about the condition, more and more people finally find a diagnostic for something they thought they'd just have to live with.
I have the exact opposite I can control my burp like literally and can even burp while saying letters A to Z. Just wonder if this is normal

Hi I get trapped wind really bad to but point of chest pains I have a camera put down my throat and they couldn't find anything what can I do to ease the pain I burp a lot everyday and it's EXTREMELY loud even with my mouth closed
I got bloating all the times, and incomplete bowel movement for more than 10 years. I got worse bloat every time I eat, so the problem start from eating.

If your diaphragm is tight from intercoastal muscle strain and soreness due to a subluxated rib, can that cause painful burping?

I have frequent burping (up to 70 times/day), but my doctors say that in my case it’s gastric burping. Apparently because of the slow motility of the stomach and chronic aerophagia. I’m also really bloated and my belly is visibly distended.
I hope there will be a video about motility problems, especially decreased motility and food being stuck in the stomach, because it’s something that I have to deal with every day.

I have acid reflux and the off the counter medications have helped but I noticed that I developed the need to burp around the same time as I noticed acid reflux so o thought my burping was related to my acid reflux. However, you did not mention that burping can also be associated to acid reflux. In addition, I’ve noticed I am constipated when I have acid reflux and did not take my acid reflux medication. I've same symptoms, it's not just burping, it's acidic burping.. when you take laxative (anjeer, flexseed) it empty my stomach well and no burping... But we can't take laxative all the time.. I'm not able to concentrate in studies since I've got this gerd problem.
Absolutely in my case! I think it's LOW STOMACH ACID... opposite of GERD. To be honest,l trust FEW doctors! I take care of it first naturally. There are so many generous experts on nutrition, who do not get RICH from keeping us sick right here on RUclips!

I can sleep due to headache.

Try a elimination diet possible some food are in the way

@gutdr - I have the 2nd kind and can burp for sometimes one solid hour or more. I had an endoscopy that showed I had an inflamed esophagus, Couldn't an inflamed esophagus be the cause of the burping?

I am very troubled with the amount of gas the develops at the end of the day. Past 2 years I am suffering from bloating, though I exercise, drink water a lot, and have tried cutting down on sugar and carbs. After excretion, it remains fine for about 2-3 hours. But once I have taken a meal, 2-4 hours after the meal, my intestines get bloated and it is painful also. What to do to cure it?
I use to get nauseated almost everyday and felt bloated. Burping helped a lot, but ginger is really good for GI problems. I'm praying for you! Hope you feel better, may GOD Bless you!

What does it mean when your burps have a sulfur rotten egg smell and sounds different from normal burps and is combustible or flammable I can tell one I'm burping if it is a normal burp because the burps that smell and I can light them on fire sounds completely different then a normal burp a normal birth to me would be after taking a sip of something carbonated that would be a normal burp the difference between the burps is the sound and the smell and I can light my burp on fire with a lighter. What the hell is happening to me?

I burp mainly at night from 3am to 5am. It causes bad arrhythmia. I have acid reflux, no helicobacter pillory. All Gi related lab tests normal. PPI drugs make things much worse. Have tried all types of medicines for GERD treatment as well as antidepressants. Nothing helps. its been ~3 - 4 years.
