But the food I watch out for are fatty and fried foods, carbonated drinks, acidic foods and caffeine. One of the best ways to do this is cook more than you eat out. There was a period there when I was dealing with some personal things and was not as diligent. I didn't avoid or cut back as before and paid the price. Your body will tell you. To heal Gastiritis u should follow these: Good sleep Exercise Light food Stop overeating Stick to alkaline diet Limit stress Don’t eat when sun is set Go to bed early at night that really helped me get better Eat more fruits like apples vegetables like zucchini, carrots. If you eat broccoli it might cause ibs if you have gastritis, so just stick to the veggies that are easy on your stomach. Everything intense will delay the healing process especially exercise. I’ve had chronic Gastritis after having Gallbladder removed. I was sent to Stanford Hospital to have a scope test looking at the inside of my stomach. The doctor asked if I wanted to see the inside it looked like raw meat. The doctor called it Alkaline Gastritis.
Thank you doc for this well presented animation helping me understand gastritis better. Was exposed to toxic chemicals for a year then took 8 aspirin per day during the cv pandemic.. Didn't understand it then. Was experiencing anxiety and depression symptoms and every food I was sensitive to. 2.5 years later and multiple infections reducing this protective layer I had a scope done this year revealing gastritis. Went on nsaids and antibiotics. Helped clear up inflammation and bacteria. Could eat most things again but 2 months later it was back.. The chronic fatigue was draining until I decided to do SPM (highly concentrated fish oil) from metagenics to clear the inflammation as well as 2 cups a day of liquorice root tea and symptoms have reduced by 70%..wow it really feels good to have my life back and not feel stressed and dehydrated all the time.. If you suffer from gastritis or ulcer you can try the following natural remedy: you have to use yellow or red potato and it has to be yellow inside, not white. Juice one medium potato on an empty stomach before breakfast (I would do this even 3 times a day before each bigger meal, but no overeating please)
Do this treatment for 10-14 days for gastritis or 2-3 weeks for ulcer, do a pause for few weeks and you can start again if needed. Usually people are fine on a first try if they follow everything. Also follow the diet, no fresh veggies, everything cooked and warm, no cold or hot dishes, no alcohol, no caffeine.

Dear Dr. your short vlogs are of very importance and effective. I have been facing stomach problem for the 30 days. Even after taking medicines like Lansaprazole & Ipride for three week I am not coming back on trek. It is all about bloating, excessive burps and a little pressure or pain just right down the center of chest where stomach starts. Kindly help me out of this issue! It result in very unpleasant and uncomfortable feelings.
I recently had a very bad stress induced gastritis. I’m not sure if that’s it. Covid test negative. Not the flu. It’s the same M.O… severe stomach and back spasms for 18 hours. I’ve had this happen once a year only for the last 6 years. I’ve had horrible dry heaving and constantly running to the bathroom with watery diarrhea. 18 hours of the spasms and vomiting… finally subsided. Been an entire week of this trying to recover. The 5th day diarrhea finally slowed. Urgent care wouldn’t be able to do anything. I could have gone to emergency. But they are so backed up. Ive always had IBS -D. I just road it out. It usually would only take a full day to recover. But this time, it took a whole week. I’m exhausted. Finally able to eat a little, force fluids… gently, because coffee has damaged my stomach lining. I eat horribly. I have always been a sensitive person and stressed. I wish I knew what this was . Please private message me as I won’t see anyone’s comments or suggestions. Patty Waska Thank you

All that drug does is reduce your acid production. So whatever damage you have in your stomach isn't getting burned by acid. But it does nothing to heal the gastritis or the damage that's there. You need to do that healing through your diet and supplements.

My gut is inflamed from having 4 C-T scans this summer and chemo now. This explains that constant mucous drainage. I also have solids that turn into constipation at the same time. It feels like torture running to the bathroom all day and into the night for days on end and to have to strain to get a little bit of solid out. I started eating more salt (I always have low sodium and chloride levels on my twice a month lab tests) and the salt and helps stem the diarrhea, and have been consuming 6 or more dandelion root capsules a day to build up bile which helps to prevent constipation. It’s hell to have to deal with it when laxatives hardly work, what I needed was more bile and and bitter veggies. Have poor appetite when it flairs up and started using dandelion instead of foods. Getting some of the foods now when I feel better. I am not sure why salt helps stop the diarrhea and mucous flow but it works and nutrients are getting absorbed much better now as a result. I have a lot of energy and actually danced a little jig when I played a music CD this afternoon.

Dr.Gut, thank you for putting out such informative information in details and explaining thoroughly. I was recently diagnosed with chronic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia, can you elaborate more on this diagnosis and is this definitely a precursor for cancer? Also, can a plant and fruit diet reversed this condition?
Intestinal metaplasia is a fairly common condition that is picked up at gastroscopy. It’s particularly common in people who have Helicobacter pylori infection, in smokers and also first degree relatives of people that have stomach cancer. Although intestinal metaplasia is recognised as a pre-cancerous condition I always like to say that having a pre-cancerous condition is not pre-destiny. It may put you at a higher risk for developing gastric cancer but it certainly doesn’t mean that it will happen. One of the best ways to help prevent gastric cancer is to regular gastroscopy surveillance. Depending upon your risk factors e.g. smoking confers a high risk - a gastroscopy may be undertaken every year or every few years. In terms of preventing intestinal metaplasia there is a role for ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) and that’s something you can get in abundance in fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s thought that ascorbic acid works to “mop up” oxygen free radicals and therefore might be helpful in reducing the progression of intestinal metaplasia to stomach cancer. Once you have intestinal metaplasia though there is no firm evidence that it causes reversal of the intestinal metaplasia. Nonetheless consuming ample fruits and vegetables with a rich source of Vitamin C and fibre is of course good for your general health. Hope this helps
Hi I hope you are doing better. Please give us an update. I'm going through similar issues and could use some support.. I can't believe how much this has effect my mental health
Thank you, doctor. What should be the standard process when diagnosing gastritis? Should doctors also look into the cause? I was diagnosed this week in Mexico and have terrible burning pain. The doctor prescribed meds but not antibiotics and did not test for H Pylori or request a gastroscopy/colonoscopy. Is this something that should be done in the early stages? Thank you.
Great video Dr Ho. Is science working on a specific antibiotic to eradicate h pylori only, and not kill all the microbiome? Or does something already exist? Are you aware of any research in this area? Seems like it would eliminate a root problem! Any thoughts Dr Ho. Thankyou.
Thanks Mr Rat. You raise a really great question and in fact this is the “holy grail” of treatment when it comes to microbiota modulation. The human gut microbiota is incredibly diverse and complex and it can be very difficult to know just how changes in one particular bacteria can affect human health. Fortunately we know enough about Helicobacter pylori to realise the potential complications that chronic infection can lead to. However again because of the complexity and diversity of the human gut microbiota it can be very difficult to direct targeted therapy. In other words creating a very specific treatment that targets Helicobacter pylori whilst sparing other important commensal bacteria is extremely challenging and not one that can be achieved through our current cocktails of antibiotics. Fortunately there is some good research in the area of flavodoxins which are small proteins that are widely present in bacteria. Helicobacter has a specific flavodoxin and research currently conducted explores antimicrobials that target this flavodoxin and spares the gut microbiota as much as possible. For more information on therapies targeting the Helicobacter flavodoxin you can check out this paper: www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiUw7rhhJzwAhUSSX0KHRFMADEQFjAKegQIFRAD&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mdpi.com%2F1422-0067%2F21%2F5%2F1881%2Fpdf&usg=AOvVaw2CbhSuqOJJrJ0vYgBjS21E

@Benny M So... For one month, I gave up coffee, alcohol and other common irritants. I reduced meal size and spaced out all meals 3-4 hours apart. No snacking. Now, basically have no symptoms! The only issues now are when I drink any alcohol before eating, I'll have heart burn (ie irritated stomach lining) for about a day (so need to avoid that). I was diagnosed with this condition and adjusted my diet. I felt much better after changing my eating habits. That said, this video provided visual aid which managed to be informative yet disturbing. But I think it is good for people to know.
I had a good weight before the pandemic hits. Now I’m 153cm tall with a weigh of 77kg. I was super stressed, often ate unhealthy food then suddenly one day gastritis attack me. It was acute at first then the second time it gets more worst. I’m slowly changing my eating habits and diet, do you think I will survive gastritis? 😔
@@Enaysh143 Making good food choices is a step in the right direction. I think it is okay sometimes when you eat something "fun" but sparingly. Once in a while is okay but not habitually. That is when you run into problems. Look up foods to avoid if you suffer from gastritis. That should help.
@@Cruzan9 thanks for the reply! it’s been 1months+ now since I am feeling the symptoms. I’m currently consuming supplements and eating bland food… stay safe to you, take care!
What do you eat in your diet now, if I may ask. I’m going through the same thing.
@@captainbroward After diagnosis they called me and gave me a list of foods to avoid or cut back. I think some people react differently sometimes. Maybe what bothers me won't bother you as much. I hate the feeling so I started making changes again. Good luck. Go online and do some research on health sites you trust. It's a step in the right direction.
To heal Gastiritis u should follow these:
Good sleep
Exercise
Light food
Stop overeating
Stick to alkaline diet
Limit stress
Don’t eat when sun is set
Go to bed early at night that really helped me get better
Eat more fruits like apples vegetables like zucchini, carrots. If you eat broccoli it might cause ibs if you have gastritis, so just stick to the veggies that are easy on your stomach. Everything intense will delay the healing process especially exercise. So just keep things simple.

For more information on therapies targeting the Helicobacter flavodoxin you can check out this paper:

Doctor,I was diagnosed with mild gastritis (endoscopy)and a negative H polyri test.My GI strongly believes my gastritis is due to stress. Is it possible to reverse gastritis naturally without medication?
I am also dealing with gastritis due to stress because I don’t drink alcohol or take nsaids. It sucks I’ve been dealing it for like months now and i think it’s also causing my constant constipation.. My GI doctor pretty much just gave me antacids for it. Pretty much any food gives me stomach pain i hate my life :( #1 thing is to avoid STRESS. Stress will prevent the stomach lining from healing. Also, taking Vitamin D3, Good organic probiotics, and drinking aloe Vera juice daily will help with gastritis. I stopped eating dairy, fried foods, gluten foods, Most carbs, sodas, juices, acidic fruits. And been on a bland strict diet for months :(
@@marielamorera7503 hey thanks 😊
I truly believe it can. Mines started during an intense period of stress. I also have bad anxiety. Currently dealing with silent reflux atm.
Update 8 months later: I left my very stressful job and have not had pain in 4 months. Also eat smaller meals .Be happy
Are you taking any medication please don’t mind me asking ?
Thanks for the video. In terms of Infectious Casues is H Pylori exclusively the only Pathogen that causes Chronic Gastritis?

I superficial inflammation caused by erosive gastritis, i dont drink or smoke, i only drink water and eat boiled potatoes, plain rice with prawns and carrot and porridge, only bananas for snacks or wholemeal bread with honey, i still suffer almost everyday, i dont have any stomach pain it's just very warm, my mouth burns and has a awful bitter taste (usually slight taste of my last meal) I have too much saliva and my stomach is sometimes unsettled, I have a big big appetite dispite being very underweight. I'm on 2 esomeprazole a day a anti anxiety tablets for stress. I've been suffering for over 18 months, i no longer throw up regularly but still have dairy symptoms. How do i know I'm doing the right thing when i still have symptoms that fluctuate?
I worked with a guy in his 50’s who would come in every morning holding his stomach in pain. He told me he used to eat jars of jalapeños or hot peppers in general Daily.
Do you think he had this happening to him? I felt bad. The guy looked like he was in pain. He told me he blames the spicy peppers 🌶️
Nightshades (peppers of all kinds, white potatoes and tomatoes) are all triggers for me.
