    When I wake up in the morning my stomach is flat but as soon as I eat anything…I look like I’m 4-5 months pregnant. It’s terrible 😞

      Same with me

    • @terohann
      @terohann 3 года назад +446

      Here’s how to get rid of it:
      Start intermittent fasting to have 12-15 hour’s period each day of not eating. Or as a better alternative, start an eating rhythm where you eat 5 times per day and nothing in between (except water). The supper would be 2 hours before going to bed. Adjust these meals to your needs, by default they'd be rather small in size. Avoid large portions. Do either of these two to reduce your daily food intake. The eating rhythm may reduce your blood pressure also.
      Add fiber to your diet.
      Reduce white flour and sugar to the minimum you can bear.
      Reduce other FODMAPs in your diet as much as you can. Check if oat is part of your problem.
      Another source of problems may be carob tree that is used as a thickener in many foods, especially vegetarian products.
      Check if there are sugar alcohols in your diet by looking for the following ingredients in everything you consume, including medicine and dietary supplements: maltitol, xylitol, isomalt, sorbitol and mannitol.
      Have more water, green tea or any other low-energy drink.
      Spend less time sitting and more on your feet.
      Have more sleep, start by adding 1 hour every night.
      I’m challenging you to try this for a month.

      I think I have the same issue explained in the video, except I cannot get rid of the air naturally, so I have to førcę it out on purpose though my mouth for several minutes, which is very awkward and embarrassing - it wasn’t like this before, but I think they started including stuff in foods and drinks that cause this on purpose, and cabbage can make it even more pijnful, like, my stomach hurts so bad after I eat cabbage and the pijn pills aren’t working for this type of pijn, so I don’t know what to do, but I am so sįck of this situation, and it makes me not want to eat anything, or I end up just eating cereal bars and cereal with Alpro yogurts, and sometimes when there is pijn I have to drink half a liter of Alpro vanilla soy milk to to not feel the pijn anymore, but after a few hours it starts again, so it’s like a vįcíous cycle for me!

    Great animation! Looking forward to seeing many more animated videos! I hope you do a fasting video to show what happens inside and how the liver is emptied etc! Would love to see an in depth video of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGES). I was shocked to learn that those crispy things we enjoy such as bread crust or crispy skin or charred veggies/protein, create a toxic chemical that binds to receptors to stop vacation influx which creates a massive inflammatory response and oxidative stress which damages our mitochondria and creates a vicious cycle of aging and disease, and worse, apparently it's never broken down and gets stuck behind piling up. Is this accurate? Is it really never broken down and piles up? Wouldn't fasting flush and clean everything out? Or simply using cooking methods to ensure low 'ages' whilst fasting to clean it all out? Keeping the gut healthy is the key to longevity! Keep up the awesome videos you have got another subscriber! :)

    I could use your help with a major issue that's bothering me! I've had some significant bowel issues that are problematic for the VA hospitals in Chicago to nail down. This has been affecting me for years now and it's so painful and debilitating that it's ruining my life. I have a surgical history that started with 1 small issue that has spiraled out of control now.
    The initial problem was a small, "unseen" abdominal wall hernia that was causing bowel issues. They couldn't find the hernia on any radiological or physical exams, but all of the normal tell tale signs of a partial bowel obstruction were there, ie no bowel sounds, extreme pain, nausea, reduced ability to pass gas or go to the bathroom, a "mild ileus" was found right where I felt the hernia on imaging, continous reports of "non specific bowel has pattern," many radiology reports of "Minimal stool in colon; 'small intestine inflated to MAX NORMAL SIZE 2.9cm in some locations," etc. But after 5 months I convinced the drs that I did have a hernia, and they did open surgery, found a hernia "exactly where you said it was," but for some reason the surgeons "did not believe small hernias can cause bowel issues," instead of doing normal due diligence, they didn't explore anything further, just "pushed the *trapped* hernia back down, sewn up the fascia, poorly put mesh down, and closed everything up.
    So fast forward some years and 5 surgeries later, I finally got video of my small intestines after my last surgery. It shows most of my "proximal small bowel is inflated...; while the terminal ileum and a small segment going backwards is flat and deflated." That was written by the surgeon at the VA after seeing the video. However, there's a wall of scar tissue (in the same area of the original hernia) that impedes the camera from seeing/tracking the inflated intestines going down, and the deflated intestines going backwards. In other words "the transition (where the inflated meets the deflated) for the small intestines cannot be seen." But secretly in my medical records where I can't get access to because it's the VA, he had a conversation with the chief of staff of the hospital and he explained to her "you can't see what's happening with the small intestines, so you can't see the cause of this abnormal transition, and I'm not sure what the problem is so I don't know how to fix it, so I can't recommend any treatment or further action at this time."
    Long story short, they see significant bowel issues but because of tricky wordplay, no further treatment is necessary at this time. This sounds batshit crazy but it's all 100% true. It seems every doctor is unwilling or afraid to go against the first doctor. I've seen specialists who say this is a major issue, that original doctor needs to diagnose this so that you can get help. Go back to the original doctor; but he is extremely unwilling and careful not to change his original diagnosis of "nothing wrong, hernia not the cause of any issues, bowel problems are all in his head." Even though after the hernia was initially repaired, the bowel issues went away, every psychological issue went away, my vitals and everything went back to normal (for the 10 days that that repair lasted), and everything came back when repair failed and hernia came back, he called it a "coincidence" which is still his reasoning to this day. A coincidence.

      Wow, the medical system is so messed up. One wrong diagnosis and even when it's proven wrong, subsequent doctors still back him up. They think patients have no clue what's happening. But you do. I guess all you can do is keep trying to find a good doctor who will fix all of this.

    Gut Dr. - I need your help!!!
    I have had stomach pain for 2 years now and I am still not able to find a solution. My symptoms are bloating and gas throughout the day but get very bad at night while laying down. I feel that I cannot sleep until I have let all the gas out out, which usually takes a couple of hours. I have tried almost everything, changing my diet and several dr visits. I have seen my GI doctor who has done an endoscopy and colonoscopy and could not find any issues. Also if I over eat, I get very sick and throw up. I was hoping you came across someone with my similar symptoms and could point me in the right direction.
    Thank you,

    Your video was unclear. I'm left confused about the hows and whys and fixes. Needs to be more clear. Fodmaps were left unresolved and no practical advice given.
    1. Eat more plain yoghurt and non fat Greek Yoghurt.
    2. Raw cabbage juice and aloe vera juice are very soothing to the gut.
    3. Many foods are not digested due to lack of digestive enzymes. Take some with every meal.
    4. Yeast in the gut lining is one major cause of bloating that was not addressed.
    5. Abdominal crunches, digging holes in garden with a pickaxe and any abs workouts will move stools.
    6. Things that move stools fast: black rice, beets, celery and other veggie juices, leafy greens, raw salads, tomato juice, cabbage, coconut water (hydration), squashes.
    7. Supplements to move bowels: magnesium 400 mg at night, potassium 99 mg 3 - 4 x day, Vitamin C powder 1/2 tsp in water,
    8. Things that constipate: meat, starchy foods like potatoes, rice, pasta, wheat, bread, iron supplements and high iron foods like bananas.
    9. Hydration is about keeping minerals in balance with water in your body. Take a vitamin-mineral mix at noon, and an extra minerals only tablet at 4 pm. This will hydrate you better.
    10. Enemas - Look up Coffee Retention Enema to clean out your gall bladder and gut lining. Do sea salt enemas to clear out solids. Try enemas to soothe your inflamed bowels so they work better. The solution is a simple one.
    11. Lecithin 1200 mg 2-3 x day with food. Breaks up any solid fat in body including cholesterol, and excretes it out. Any form will do - Soy, Sunflower, Egg Yolk. If 1200 mg is too strong, use 600 mg. Moves your bowels too.

    • @GutDr
      @GutDr  3 года назад +5

      A very good question. You’ll remember from my bloating animation that I referred to FODMAPS as a type of carbohydrate that isn’t absorbed well in the small bowel. What that means is they can increase the amount of gas in the bowel through being easily fermented by bacteria in the colon. It stands to reason then that a diet which is low in FODMAPS is going to be helpful for gaseous bloating and research has actually found that to be the case. There is plenty of information that you can find online about a low FODMAPS diet and I plan to do a video on it at some stage next year.

    • @GutDr
      @GutDr  3 года назад +5

      Thanks Pudatoo for your kind comment. As to your question - certainly fatty liver can result in symptoms which can include vague right upper quadrant pain. This is thought to occur in approximately a third of patients. It’s not impossible for left sided abdominal pain to be due to fatty liver but this usually occurs when there the liver has enlarged to quite a significant degree (hepatomegaly). An enlarged spleen (splenomegaly) can be a result of end-stage liver disease when there is very significant scarring of the liver (also known as cirrhosis). However it can also be found in patients without liver cirrhosis. In one Egyptian study just over 10% of patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver had an enlarged spleen with no apparent cause found - so they attributed it to the fatty liver.
      Now I don’t know your specific medical details but if you do have a large liver and spleen then this could certainly result in the feeling of bloating and even shortness of breath at rest if these organs are extremely large although this is quite uncommon. It’s more likely that true shortness of breath at rest is due to other reasons than to a massive liver and spleen causing compression of other nearby structures. I would certainly have your shortness of breath at rest investigated by your local doctor because you don’t want conditions like coronary artery disease (as unlikely as it might be but it is linked to fatty liver and metabolic syndrome) missed.

    I had gall bladder removal a few yrs back and been having digestive issues ever since, bloating is just one of them. My stomach is so extended now and I believe I have scar tissue from this surgery. I have a doc's appointment coming up, hopefully this can get cleared up. Thanks for the video.

    Im just gonna say it when your not able to fart at all but then release a big one and suddenly feel deflated is a joy. It happened last year and so bad the moment i farted and felt better i pasted out! I was still a little sore but so happy.

    Great video! I have severe bloating in the upper stomach. I’m always bloated, and constipated. I got diagnosed with Sibo a couple years ago and have tried xifaxan 3 times and didn’t work. Please help?

    doctor, amazing video. really helped me understand the issue that i may be facing.
    a question- could the visceral hyper sensitivity cause headaches due to the distention? i've been diagnosed with IBS and given meds for the same, but i wanted to clarify the headache part of the equation.
