Taking the time to address all the little things that most people won't take the time to do makes the world of difference. My engine bay is as clean as the exterior and it just makes you feel better lol . Great video as usual Nick 👍
Here is a little mechanic's trick that will help hold your plenum gaskets in place while you are trying to get them reinstalled. If you take some wheel bearing grease and coat the gasket in a small layer of grease it will help hold it in place while you put them back in place.
Looking really good Nick. For those Riff Raff plenums I'd pull those gaskets and smear a super light coating of RTV in the groove then put the gaskets back in. The RTV should hold them in place for later removal and installs. For fittings, bolts or nuts in a hard to get to place with one hands, put a piece of masking tap on one side inside of a socket or deep socket then put the fitting in the socket. The tape puts just enough tension to hold it in place, then add a small 3" extension to help guide it in place. Simple but effective, It's an old mechanics trick my dad taught me years ago, I still use it today when needed. Love what your doing with the truck. Keep up the super work bud. Best Wishes and Blessings. Keith Noneya
@@kennyirish5021 Why? It a SUPER light coating to hold them on so they don't fall off when servicing the covers. Also there is a groove to hold them in place from sliding. There would be so little RTV in there that it couldn't effect anything. I could see your point if someone used a regular coat of RTV it could squeeze out and get into the system, but i'm not talking about that, just a super light or film coat just to hold them in place for later. It doesn't seem to me that would cause any harm, it could only help. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
Not to take the love away from nick’s page, however o-rings require a grease to do there best to make a seal and in turn the o-ring will adhere to the mating surfaces for the absolutely best seal possible period
@@kennyirish5021 For a one time use I agree. Only grease when it gets hot flows out, the RTV Won't so you only have to do it once. Been there done that both ways. Them steel braided lines are sweet i just installed red coated steel braided lines for all my flex lines on my brakes on my 2000 4runner defenitly gave a way better pedal feel @FixItNick
Looking so much better Nick, and with the upgrades it should perform better and be more reliable.... We hope 😉..... Don't worry about being nearly 40 it's when you get over 50 you need to worry 😉😂😂
Ya. Im 52 and I hate leaning over the truck to work on. I gotta do turbo. Not really. But wife is gonna know it needs one. Lol cuz its an e99 and factory it comes with a ww1. And I make 34.5 psi boost. At 3050rpm. So I'm gonna look into kc300x stg 2.
Got an OBS 7.3 that I've given similar treatment to. Something just satisfying about having the top end of the engine all refreshed and clean like that. Looks good.
Finally found the valley floor, been pulling out handfulls of oily sand... I don't think I will paint it but I would like to get all the dirt and most of the oil out...
You make it look easy and all so clean. Tkx for all the tips and tricks. Q, Going to power wash mine, anything in particular I need to cover like raping electrical connections, yep I will cover the alt.
Got a suggestion for you I just purchased a Over the hood creeper man they the best for working on trucks I wish I can post a picture but I got mine from Amazon for $150 it’s well worth it way easier to work on anything user your hood of a truck.
Great job, tip for keeping gaskets in place for installing, apply a small amount of grease or assembly lube. You really have me wanting to replace some pf my fuel system, problem is it's a PAIN IN THE ASS when you have big fingers. Also you are in great shape, wait till the 50's hit, that's when stuff starts falling apart.
@@matthewgomez1180 its not really worth the hassle. No really benefit from doing banjo or the enlarged ccv returns unless your doing 600+ hp. The FRX Return from riffraff is a nice upgrade for cheap.
Great video!! Great Content!! Great Minutes! All around Great!! You really made the Valley of doom Great again!!! Fresh and so Clean!! I enjoyed this video so much I had to support the channel and got me my Built not Bought V neck T- Shirt. Keep up the great work!! Looking forward to the next video, Big Girl, her highness loves the spot light, lol👍😉👌💪🏼💪🏼👏👏🥇🏆💯k.
What a sweet valley that is. Why did you replace the stock plenums with the riffraff? What other cleaners did you use beside carb cleaner? Carb cleaner starts getting expensive.
I used the Gunk Heavy duty cleaner and then a can of brake cleaner, I put links in description. Non Chlorinated brake cleaner works better because it doesn’t dry out as fast as regular brake cleaner, gives you a chance to whipe off good
Yo nice job man well your elbows are in shape ..;) Sorry on my last comment didn't realize that it was painted IH gray... Was on my phone and I'm 17 years older than you, Hah So nice man.
Love your truck buddy. Would you be interested in doing a dash swap for me? 2003 7.3 to a 2010. Pretty much like yours. I would send you my truck via hotshot
Anybody know about the “Short circuit valve” located on the front of the driver side engine block? I think mine is leaking. Can I just tighten it ? Help
Don't you need teflon tape on the NPT thread side of the fitting ? And to all you young whippersnappers, don't complain, you get used to the aches and pains, plus you start making funny "old man" noises. I qualify for Medicare in February.

Ah turbo “wheel” just push it in and out and up and down, if no play it’s good 👍
