Hi Ms. Lori, Since you are not a big fan of black eyed peas, you may want to try homemade black eyed pea hummus. The only ingredient you may not have on hand is tahini (sesame seed paste). The recipe is...2 cans black eyed peas, 1/3 cup tahini,1tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp paprika, 2 cloves peeled garlic, 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice. Process all ingredients until smooth. Garnish with chives and serve with pita bread or crackers. A new fun appetizer.
Thank you so much for this recipe for canning ranch beans! This is exactly what I’ve been looking to do with a lot of my pinto beans! We use them a lot and I’m dang tired of paying crazy prices for suboptimal food. You’re a gem, Ms. Lori and i appreciate you so!!
I can "Chili Beans" on a regular basis, but I am going to can some of these to see if there is much of a difference. A little bacon doesn't hurt now does it? And I like the (being picky) smoked Hungarian Sweet paprika. I use Jalapenos but you convinced me to try some green chili. Maybe a Hatch Chile would do it right.

Thank you for staying true to yourselves, to your upbringing, and most importantly to the Lord. Bless you both!
I am so thankful for your bean canning recipes. I purchased a brand new never used 22qt Barton pressure canner for $30 from a lady being moved to an assisted living facility. Last year I was given 12 or 13 pounds of dry pinto beans. I think I know what I’m going to be doing this weekend.
Love canning my dried beans and peas. I even can jars of my soup mix. Baby limas, corn, carrots, green beans, okra, green peas, onion, diced potatoes. I layer them in quart jars and it makes homemade soup when I add my canned tomatoes and beef or deer.😊
Hi, I am new to your channel. I just started gardening 5 yrs ago and living on a limited budget. My Grandma taught me the basic canning method for pickling and so I figure I can continue to learn other ways through channel's such as yours. I like knowing where my food comes from and what's in it. 😊✌️
Miss Lorie, I've never canned my own beans, although I made myself my own batch of baked beans and they were FABULOUS I've canned a lot of other foods including different meats in glass jars. I too have a beautiful collection of different types of beans. I'm going to set up my canned dried beans tonight, and process them tomorrow since my sweetheart is sleeping and he's real sensitive to kitchen food smells. He tells me, "I don't know what you were cooking last night, but I could smell it and it smelled really good. " I don't want to disturb his sleep Thank you for sharing your recipes
WOW I have learn so much from your videos. I can't thank you enough. Since I have retired, this has meant so much for me to have someone that shares so much of her how to do. Thank you my dear. Linda
I purchased my Presto 23 quart pressure scanner in 1974 when I was 19 years old. I've replaced my rubber gasket and rubber blowout valve about 3 times. The pressure gauge is still accurate after all these years but I take very good care of it. I keep it in a temperature controlled house. I do not oil my rubber gasket as I believe that contributes to the break down of it. It has been a workhorse. I just used it last month. This is how I can my dry beans and peas also. Thank you for teaching others how to can.
Just tried a jar of these beans I canned using your recipe. We loved them. Need to kick them up a little bit more for my grandkids. Now I need to can quarts to fix for the family meals!
I love my Presto cooker. I had a Mirro for years and loved it also. I wore it out. Never had any problem with either brand. I bought me a steam canner this year for jellies but haven’t used it yet. I just used my water bath like normal. I watched your video when you first made it about canning dried beans and have never looked back. I had always just canned my fresh stuff. I even did about 100 jars of various kinds and made baskets to give away as Christmas gifts this year. Thank you for all you do!
I hope you start using your steam canner soon. You’ll be delighted how easy it is to use compared to the water bath canner! The only thing is to make sure you have enough water in the bottom if you do several batches.
@@cynthiafisher9907 thank you so much for responding. I am looking forward to it but had already made my jams and jellies when I ordered it this year. I tend to only make them in the summer but use my pressure canner all year. It’s good to hear from someone who uses one and likes it.

I just canned up 14 pints of your Ranch Beans recipe and they are delicious! We love Ranch Beans but the cans from the store are outrageously expensive. At first I thought all the spices might be too much but they were perfect! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. I’m sure these are going to become a staple in my pantry.
Processing our second batch. Had my 10 yr. Old granddaughter help to learn. My electric pressure cooker only does 4 pints at a time, but hey it’s something.

Miss Lori, I tried hatch chilies in my black eyed peas with salt and garlic powder. Absolutely delicious. I have 10 pints of them and your ranch style beans with hatch chilies in them. Your proportions of seasonings are spot on!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I started with washed dry beans at room temperature, just as you did. My husband and I almost finished 2 pints for dinner tonight. Delish! Thanks again!!!
Miss Lori, I've got to tell you,I usually made pretty good chili, but I added these chili beans (ur recipe) to the chili. It knocked it up to the best chili ever!!! Wonderful recipe. Now I have to do more !!!!Thank you, thank you!
I just put up chili yesterday. And your way looks so much easier. The only difference is I had meat with mine. And I had soaked my beans before I did soak them overnight they weren't cooked all the way through because I wanted to finish cooking when I put them in the pressure canner. I didn't want to them explode in there. But I saw you had your jar half filled with water. And what I was looking for was the flavor of the whole Chile being done the whole product being done and canned. And the end result as well before canning it not for it to be too thick and it siphon out so when I fill the jars I had to make sure that there was still enough water in there but not enough to ruin the flavor or the thickness it was a job to make sure it was alright good grief! But I used the same spices that you did as well all I would have to do is just add meat on top of your dry beans I suppose would work and the spices along with it and the water and that would do the whole thing. I had a paper with all these questions for you but this video came up and I thought okay good, this is this is part of those questions and the beans were one of them! And the other question was I've got the water bath pot and the racking that came with that be used to put my jars on the bottom of my pressure canner and then use the the pressure canner rack for the top level? Well it was a great video and I really do appreciate you doing it because I did learn a lot in this one I love watching your videos I really do!
I love my home canned beans so much! This year I plan on putting in way more green beans in my garden as my family has eaten up every last jar I canned last summer! My youngest son told me "Mom these are so much better tasting than grocery store canned beans." Great compliment!❤ Today I'm doing chili with my home canned pinto and black beans! 🍲
I absolutely love your channel. I’m 67 years old and I’ve learned stuff off of your channel that I never even could’ve imagined. There definitely is a cultural difference between the good home cooked food that you guys grew up with, versus over here in Southern California. And I like to cook everything from scratch. But that’s not the way I was raised. My mother tried with some success to cook strictly from scratch but it’s just a different type of cuisine over here. Anyway thank you. This video absolutely was fascinating.
Miss Lori, I just can't seem to stop canning these beans! Doing qts, pts only for friends. Thank you so much for this recipe. Hope you & Mr Brown have an awesome New Year! You two are a Blessing!!
I am new to canning and am 59 years old. You are an amazing teacher. I love ALL your videos. I bought a new canner and I am binge watching your teachings. Thanks so much. You remind me of my grandmother.
Thank you for this video. I canned my first dry peas and did the presoak. The bottom quarter of the peas were mushy. I'll can them without presoaking next time; tomorrow.
After I discovered your channel I have been watching and liking even the earlier videos. I sure hope you get credit for that. I just love watching your videos and living in a homestead world for just a little while. Your videos make me feel good.😁
This is the best way to get all those flavors infused into the beans. My Mama and Grandma always made the best pots of beans but even with handfuls of spices they both put in, the flavor was more in the sauce than in the beans.
Thank you so much for this video. I had a pressure canner that I was canning home grown chicken and chicken stock in, but my stove was a piece of ____! And it rounded the bottom of my canner. Dang it man! So now I have a new pressure canner and I have loads of organic beans in my pantry and getting ready to can them up. Love your channel, thank you!
Miss Lori, I did a lot of pressure canning this weekend and had enough time to try your Ranch Style beans the way that you do them. They turned out wonderful and my husband really liked them. I believe these will be a staple in our food storage from now on. Thank you so much for making this video.
I have three 1 lb. bags of pintos and a whole lot of black eyes sitting on my counter to can. Your video came up just as I was wondering how to flavor them up as this will be my first time canning beans. Must be magic! Thanks for thinking of me - LOL.
We are absolutely blessed we came across your channel 🙏🏻 ❤, Mrs Lori n Mr Brown thank you for sharing all these amazing recipes, my children and grandchildren absolutely love that we are now passing down these wonderful recipes and knowledge to them God bless , and thank you for taking the time to teach us .. from the island of Puerto Rico we send yall so much love
My grandma always said if it cold use cold water. If it's hot use hot water so makes since room temperature use room temp. Just as long as it's all the same
My husband is a Texan boy. He introduced me to Ranch Style Beans 15 years ago and I'm hooked! I did a really involved version recipe involving soaking and blending up dried Ancho chilis, fresh onions, etc., but these look great. I'll give it a try! Thanks so much.
I love beans but I wasn't looking forward to this video. I decided to watch it because my husband is watching his TV shows and I was really intrigued by your method of canning beans. I've never seen any canning done this way. I'll be checking out your canning videos. Thank you so much for showing me a different way to can.
Dear Mrs. Lorie, I canned these back in January or February and told my little sister and she canned some too. She said they were wonderful and good enough for a main dish. I canned quarts of pintos with all the spices and put the green chilis. Well last night I finally opened a jar!!!! They are so delicious I can’t believe the delicious taste without any meat or fat! Just wanted you to know!
I really am greatful for your teaching. This way works wonders. I do it but I use 1 tsp salt with 1 tsp powdered Fiesta ranch . For my black beans I add 1 tsp Dry onions with 1 tsp Taco powder seasoning. This cuts time and very easy to make. Watching 11/30/22 from Beautiful Southern Iowa ❤️ Bless you and Danny
Honey you had me at corn bread and pork chop. My granny made pintos and we ALWAYS had pork chops and a pan of corn bread. Best meal ever. Forgot the fresh chopped onion on top.
Okay I have to tell you. I tried this recipe and growing up in Texas, this as close to the ranch style bean flavor I have ever had and I know exactly what is in em. I will definitely do this again. Thank you Mrs Lori and Mr Brown for sharing your time and love of cooking with us!
I made 6 pints yesterday and am anxious to try them. I bought a bunch of dried beans when the world started falling apart and felt it would be beneficial to have the beans ready to eat. Hoping everyone is happy and healthy.
I wold love you to make a canning recipe cookbook. I have forgotten some of the recipes that my Grandmother and Mother had. Love your soft spoken voice.. Thank you!
I absolutely love to can, especially dry beans. It just so happens that today I will be canning dry beans, but since watching this video I am going to turn them into ranch style beans. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video with us.
That’s a good looking mess of beans! You’re a hard worker! Miss Lori, have you ever eaten yellow eyed peas? I love them! They have a buttery flavor to them. Blessings to you and Mr. Brown.
Thank you! I have used you canning bean and I love it. I hadn't canned anything since I helped my mother as a girl. I have been getting back to my roots and simple life last couple years and you have gifted my relearning in many places. God Bless.
I used Miss Lori's recipe to do over 60 pints of beans! t was so easy ans I ate one jar that didn't seal and it was delicious!!! Thank you Miss Lori!!! I love you!!!
Ms Lori Thank you for taking the time for showing us all how to do this. It must take you at least twice as long ,not to mention all that goes into it .
I am canning beans right now, I had two quarts of chicken bone broth and wanted to fill the canner. So, I remembered you had a video on canning dry beans without soaking them first. So now I have 2 quarts of broth and 5 quarts of beans in my presto canner. Thanks to teaching us how to do it. btw: We have that faucet in our kitchen and a deep farm sink too. My hubby insisted on getting them when we built the house, and I am glad I gave in to him.
I'm with you in the green chilis instead of jalapenos! Looks like a real good mess of beans. 😊 You looked so nice, and that's a cute apron! Looked like new glasses, too.😉 Have a blessed week, Ms Lori! God bless you guys!💖🙏💮
6 pints of Ranch Style in the canner as I speak. I did my Black eyed peas yesterday. Thank you for sharing your recipes and advice. Happy New Year to you and Mr. Brown.
I just discovered Ranch style beans. I bought them in the grocery store and they were pretty pricey. We found we really liked them mixed with our taco meat. I've been looking for a recipe to make them so thanks in advance! I'm sure this recipe will be so much better that store bought. Can't wait to give them a try. To be real truthful we don't eat a lot of beans. We have baked beans as a side dish and beans in our chili but that's about it.
I can my beans without soaking them, too. They turn out so good! I usually don't put spices in mine other than salt, but I'm going to give it a try this way.
What a wonderful video! I made chille today an added all those spices in a large cast iron skillet and added the beans. fried potatoes and homemade cornbread. I will try it with the black eyed peas looks so yummy.
I'm new to canning and preserving, still in the learning process. Thank you for this instruction on how to can beans! I will try this! Blessings and greetings from central Florida!
Hi Ms. Lori, Since you are not a big fan of black eyed peas, you may want to try homemade black eyed pea hummus. The only ingredient you may not have on hand is tahini (sesame seed paste). I am new to canning and am 59 years old. You are an amazing teacher. I love ALL your videos. I bought a new canner and I am binge watching your teachings. Thanks so much. You remind me of my grandmother.
Thank you
Thank you for this video. I canned my first dry peas and did the presoak. The bottom quarter of the peas were mushy. I'll can them without presoaking next time; tomorrow.
I wondered why everything had to be hot for canning. It always made sense that you could keep everything at room temperature❤️
That was so awesome. Thanks again for taking time to Teach us . God-bless you all and Keepsafe.
Look at that nice addition to the pantry. Happy belated birthday!
After I discovered your channel I have been watching and liking even the earlier videos. I sure hope you get credit for that. I just love watching your videos and living in a homestead world for just a little while. Your videos make me feel good.😁
Thank you so much
Home canned beans makes the best pot of Chilli you’ll ever eat! Plus it’s so easy.
This is the best way to get all those flavors infused into the beans. My Mama and Grandma always made the best pots of beans but even with handfuls of spices they both put in, the flavor was more in the sauce than in the beans.
Love this!! Thank you so much for the recipe…😊 It always seems to relax me when I watch your videos…❤️
I love all of you're videos and will watch and LIKE each one of them. Blessings to you and Mr. Brown.
Mr Brown looks so comfy on his chair, drinking his coffee ☕️. What a blessing. Thank you Ms Lori for sharing it with us. 🙏🏼🥰
Thank you for your tried and true wisdom! I have never canned a dry bean. I am going to now!
Hey Ms. Lori. Another great video! Your beans really look good. You and Mr. Brown have a great week. 😊🤗
Thank you. I make my own chili beans, like your ranch but with 1/3 cup tomato SAUCE in them. God Bless and stay safe.
I so appreciated learning your step by step dry bean canning method.
Oh Thank you so much!
We are Blessed by your kindness!
You never steer us wrong. Great looking beans. Great looking hair.
I do so wish there was a ❤ button. I really like this one and I love how you and your husband still play 😊
Love this. I have the same problem with my ONE POT canner, only for pints. lol.
Happy birthday Ms Lori!! You are loved!
Thank you!
So good!
Ms. Lori, I love fixing ranch-style beans, hugs n love, and many blessings to you two.
Awesome! I’ve currently got 12 quarts in the pressure canner! I can’t wait to try it
Those beans look so good. I love canning dry beans. So easy to do. I want to try the ranch beans. Hope you had a great birthday.🧁🌹
Thank you so much for sharing. Can't wait to try. ❤️🌹🙏 take care xo
I wold love you to make a canning recipe cookbook. I have forgotten some of the recipes that my Grandmother and Mother had. Love your soft spoken voice.. Thank you!
That’s a great tip with the green chilies! I can’t handle jalapeños but I love green chilies.
Brown.
Where do you get those?
Great job!
Thank you
6 pints of Ranch Style in the canner as I speak. I did my Black eyed peas yesterday. Thank you for sharing your recipes and advice. Happy New Year to you and Mr. Brown.
Your welcome, Glad you enjoy!
Yumminess
Thank you miss Lori. I am working on building up my pantry. I think it will have a lot of your recipes in it. Have a good day.
I'm new to canning and preserving, still in the learning process. Thank you for this instruction on how to can beans! I will try this! Blessings and greetings from central Florida!
