Great video. Note: there were 3 t-20 torx screws in mine too, I think that's all there are. Which really helps with my method here. In conjunction with watching this video to see what everything looks like and where it's located I was able to come up with a way to do this in about 15 minutes per ballast. Here's how to not fix it right, but it's much quicker (if you're just needing to replace the HID ballast)! I wanted to comment here on doing this job and it takes about 15 minutes if you want to do this little hack.
Remove the rubber cover over the hid headlight. (Notice I am not telling you to take off the front bumper!) Locate the ballast. 1. Use a SEDY 21-Piece Mini Ratchet Driver Set or similar and remove the 2 ballast screws that are accessible.
2. Grab the ballast on both sides and pull. It will break the 3rd ballast screw when you do this but it is in the back and not really needed. It will still seal the ballast when you screw the other 2 screws back in. Replace with the new ballast you have. Replace the rubber cover. Done! Working great for me.
I thought changing the headlight on my wifes'14 Outback was a chore.. comparatively a piece of cake WOW!!
One of the best videos I've seen. Thanks sooo much!
Thanks! Glad you like it. It was certainly interesting to make
EXACTLY what I needed to see and excellent descriptions of how it all works. Thank you!
Glad it's helpful for you!
Same here! Autozone peeps couldn’t tell me if I had a ballast or not and watched a ton of videos that didn’t help until I found yours! Super huge help, can’t thank you enough!
Now if I can find out why my van engine sounds like a sewing machine!
Thanks I hit a deer broke lens mounts and headlight was working than 2 days later it didn’t hope this is the problem with the ballast great video!
Thank you for this video.
thanks for the introduction !😅bought wrong H11 halogen lamp @ very beginning. When doing replacement , figure out its xenon HID bulb for 2010 chrysler T&C
I am about to dive into this on my 2008 town and country. I have water in my headlight as well. My auto shop said the would only change the whole assembly for 900 bucks used 1500 new. Lol.
Hoping the 2008 body and lights come apart the same as your newer van
Best of luck to ya. This was not a job that I enjoyed, but sure beats $1000
@@bengalvfan did it I'm tearing into a 2009
Do you have an Amazon link for the ballast?
lol this happend to my friends car ill need to show him this
Lol nice, feel free to pass it on
Did you have to code the ballast? I’ve changed it on my wifes car but the xenon wont turn on as daily lights or on auto mode, only when i physically turn the lights on
Not on ours, I just did the install and they worked like before
Hi. Can you provide the Amazon link for the Ballast. Thank you.

Whe working on Crystal take the number plate off and everything off behind it .
I changed my hid bulb on van but still doesn't work so I am thinking it might be the ballast.
Very likely. Better set aside an afternoon for this job
Was it the ballast? My bulb won’t work, even after swapping bulbs & now the fuse blows each time I activate the headlight
So to put the bumper back on you need two people
Could probably do it by yourself but it helps with a big awkward piece
and btw how the chevy goin?
Wish I could say it is. Hoping to get more time to work on it soon. Been making the work area more workable too
