Super video - great camera work. BTW if you are replacing one handle, buy all 4. They all have the same bake time on them and it is only a matter of time before you need another. I bought all 4 about 2 years ago and just replaced 3rd handle. It is so nice to just have to go to the "Matrix handles" box instead of having to order and wait for delivery. Whole process took me less than 30 minutes.
*LISTEN UP* and I'll save y'all a ton of time! You don't have to remove the door panel at all. Skip to 3:35 and thank me later. Loosening the torx bolt inside the door panel is not necessary. Once you get the lock mechanism out (may need some gentle prying with a flat head screwdriver) you grab what ever is left of your old door handle and pull it toward the back of the car, it'll then come right out. Put the new one back in the same way the old one came out, and you're good to go! Took me less than 10 minutes.
Thank You very much!!! Door handles should not just fall apart, but when junk materials designed to fall apart after a number of years does fall apart people like yourself are a God send!!! Thank you for posting! Have a good day!!!

thanks for this friend! didnt want to pay anybody else to install handles for me when I already have the part and can do it myself. Very helpful, thanks again.
Thank you so much for this video walkthrough! It was perfect for my 05 Pontiac Vibe. I she-hulked both front handles and had to replace them. This made the process very easy to do.
hah same here - I think the handles only last about 16-17 years before they get brittle, depending on where you live. I was in California and then moved to Georgia so all the sunlight, dry heat, and humid heat + age was more than they could bear :[
@@aylmer666 you're absolutely right! Would you believe that both my rear door handles snapped less than a month ago? I hope all the new door handles last longer. XD
Lmao I hulked my last 2 door handles in the last month. Been having to crawl in through the trunk as the other 2 were broken off several years ago lol finally getting around to replacing them
For the Pontiac Vibe(not sure about the corolla) front door handles you DO NOT need to remove the door panel, this is 2 minutes job.. Go to 3:31 in the video, the screw in the side of the door is a torx screw, you can use a hex key if you dont have a torx key. All you do is loosen that all the way until the key lock assembly pulls out, this will allow the handle to pull out. In the video they mention another screw needs to be loosened on the inside, this is also NOT necessary, just the torx screw that allows the lock assembly to pull out. Put the handle on first, fit it in and push i to the left to lock it in, replace the key lock and put the keylock cap back on, it should snap on. Note: The is a small gasket that lays under the key lock and partial under the hand, make sure its lined up right so the keylock slides in and the cap can snap on. Thats it, I did one the other day, simple. The rear door handles do not have that access hole in the side of the door
Thank you so much for this video! It was perfect. (I'm also thankful that the front handles were much easier than the rear which I had to replace a couple years ago.)

Your video is great and I followed it exactly but my handle is not working. When I pull on the handle there is no resistance and the door does not open. Any help is appreciated.
If the door does accidentally closes before you are done you can open it. Hard to describe, but you can reach inside the door by the latch and push up a part. I used a light and small mirror to visualize the space and then was able to reach in without a problem.
You dont need to take the door apart to replace the door handle. just do the part at 3:35 remove door lock then pop out whats remain of door handle and replace with new door handle. put the lock back in screw it down then test the new door handle few time to see is it works. the place the grommet back. no need for the hassle of taking the door apart.
